  • Whenever you feel comfortable doing so.
  • Black coffee for the win.
  • I'd feel like a lazy slob if I took a whole week off. I have a long to days ahead of me and probably won't get in much if anything at all (vacation packing/driving/flight) so I went hard in the gym today.
  • @ashleyadeline Yeah, no proof I'm following it. You're right, I'm just swallowing balls of lard. I researched the way of eating keto far before I chose the diet. And I have absolutely no vitamin or fiber deficiencies. Not to mention I'm not a layman when it comes to human biology and nutrition. But I'm glad you can examine…
  • Also, it's not easy at first, but it becomes easier. You must be dedicated and disciplined. And ketogenic diets are not a magical way to lose weight. You still must eat at a deficit. A HFLC keto diet tends to stave off hunger, which can help in avoiding extra carbs, but it is a way of eating, not a magic diet.

  • This is something that needs to be understood when starting this way of eating. A spike in glucose can, and will, knock your body out of ketosis. A ketogenic diet is also more than just a "low carb" diet. The carbs (source of glucose) have to be low enough for your body to switch from glycolysis to ketosis. This means…

  • Think of it as day one of your new life. If you want to lose it and keep it off, you have to change your life, not follow a timed plan.
  • Once a morning creates a better trend in data. While you may dread it at first, over time, if you're losing weight and doing things right, it's nice to see that downhill slope. Also, to get the most accurate weight, you should take it in the morning after you've gone to the bathroom naked. This will eliminate many…
  • Do not rush this. If you truly want to succeed, make this a life change. Dedicate yourself to it and get in it for the long haul. Why do you want to lose it so quickly? It's better, both mentally and physically, to lose it steadily. Not as fast as possible.
  • @RodaRose Fiber is not digestible, so you can subtract for net carbs.
  • If your body is in ketosis, then yes. You have to deprive the body of carbs to move from glycolysis to ketosis.
  • Net carbs is all you need to count. Fiber is not digestible, therefore it's not a concern on a low carb diet.
  • Paleo and keto are not weight loss diets, they're a way of eating. You still need to eat at a calorie deficit to lose weight. That being said, I've been on a keto diet for almost three months now and I've experienced some positive side effects. It is true that, when you cut carbs out of the equation, you'll have an initial…
  • There's also the newbie gains.
  • Never had ostrich or antelope yet. The rest are delicious, though.
  • I was eating 3,000 calories just to maintain weight. I'm in a cut now (plus going on a vacation) and eating about 2,500. I'd be starving on 1,900.
  • I do mostly weight training with some cardio mixed in, but mostly runs on Sunday. Day 1: chest, back, core Day 2: shoulders, arms, core Day 3: legs Day 4: chest, back, core Day 5: shoulders, arms, core Day 6: run to gym, legs Day 7: run
  • Keep your net carbs @ 50g or less.
  • Your body will consume the easiest forms of energy first. Breaking down muscle is not the easiest way to create energy.
  • I'm agreeing with you. Too many people on here seem to think keto/Paleo is some kind of miracle diet. I started eating keto for other reasons than weight loss.
  • I eat a keto diet. I know how it works. If you overeat on a keto diet, it's no different than overeating on a carb-rich diet.
  • I eat a ketogenic diet. You will have an initial water weight loss the first few days. After that, losing weight is the same on any other diet. CICO still applies. There are other benefits many experience, including myself, but it's not a miracle diet. That being said, I like to encourage people to change their way of…
  • As someone who eats a ketogenic diet, I wish people would stop making it (and its fashionable cousin the Paleo diet) look like some magic weight loss trick. It's not. And even if you're on a Paleo, keto diet, you still need to adhere to CICO to lose weight. 2,000 calories is 2,000 calories whether it's carbs or fat.
  • You'll find many people on here, like myself, who adhere to ketogenic diets that restrict sugar intake. Add me if you'd like.
  • Getting into ketosis will not help you lose weight any faster than a normal caloric deficit. There is an initial loss of retained water weight ( I dropped about 10-12 lbs the first three days ), but after that, you still need to adhere to CICO. You still need to eat at a deficit to lose weight.
  • @mallory71 If your goal is get your body into a state of ketosis, you're going to need to drop your carbs to under 70g net, 50g optimal.
  • Squats, lunges, & good mornings.
  • You need to have a proper rack of ribs, then.
  • The Map My Run has many options for mapping including run, walk, cycling, etc.
  • Under Armour has one called "Map My Run" which is pretty accurate.
