I've been scratching my brain to think of a new one, as I survived my half-marathon on Sunday and I wasn't looking further ahead than that! I think the next one will be 'do a pull up by Christmas' (it's actually been a goal for a long time but my progress has been slooooooow).

Did a half marathon yesterday (sandwiched between two nights at work) and can still walk today :)

Yes. Mine came with clear instructions, and it has to be seated under a ceiling joist. It was simple to put up and is designed to be portable, but it took two of us to do it due to the weight of it and needing to get it properly in place with a spirit level. It would be a pain in the butt to do it too often, I imagine.

I've had half a dozen lessons since July, I suck at everything full stop, but I can (as of yesterday) do a pole sit with both hands off the pole now. MAJOR difference since last lesson. There will be times when you surprise yourself, and it does get better!
-
Yep, I had my first ever lesson five weeks ago. Got hooked so fast I just got an x-pole so I can work out at home too.

Okaaaaaaaaay. Explain to me then how I lost all my excess weight whilst not giving a flying *kitten* about the timing of any of my meals, not paying attention to anything except calories, and having carbs every evening?

I was on depo for a number of years in my late 20s/early 30s (44 now). For me the side effects were anxiety/depression. It crept up on me over time, and since my lifelong tendency when feeling low has been to self-medicate with food (whether needed or not), I ceased to give a monkeys about things like portion control, so…

How jarring it is to look at photos from a decade ago that you haven't looked at since years before you started dropping weight, and wonder how the hell you did not realise how out of shape you were back then. I was way bigger than I thought I looked at the time. Denial, possibly - but it seriously did not register with me.

To run/jog 100 miles during August (I'm doing a VirtualRunner challenge)

Managing my iced coffee habit was one of the first things I tackled when I decided to take the weight off last year. I love sweet iced coffee (in contrast to my usual unsweetened black java), and I either work it in, or talk myself out of it. If I manage to get up early and run off a couple of hundred calories before work,…

It doesn't matter. Do what feels right for you. There is no 'most important meal' and our metabolisms are working 24/7 (kickstarting it with meal timing is not a thing). I eat when I get hungry, and when that is varies wildly depending on what I'm doing that day (and often, what my activity levels have been the day before).

The OP started this thread over three years ago - I don't think she's on MFP any more!

Thank you so much for posting this. Not being a crossfitter I wasn't familiar with her - looking at pics and stats she and I are the exact same height and a very similar body type (me being the 'way, way, way before' in the before and afters!). First time I've ever really envisaged what it might be possible to aim for with…

This is a little silly. Last month I decided to actually try out the pole fitness class I had been eyeing up for a few years but didn't have the courage to do 40+ lbs heavier. I have discovered that my core strength is WAY better than I thought it was, and after a few lessons I managed to do an invert on my third ever try.

How I used to think baggier clothes were flattering (read: bulk hiding) and now when I wear a baggy t-shirt I feel that I look bigger than I am, and want to swap it out for something more fitted.

Soda and lime looks like gin & tonic... really there's *no* reason to gain weight in this job - put some calories aside for a drink or two if you really feel it's a requirement - and surely pub crawls and organised games can involve a good amount of moving around?
-
I love sugary food, but I don't label it 'good', 'bad', 'treat', 'cheat', 'reward' or anything like that. If it fits into my food plans, it's in. A day without chocolate is an unusual day.

I'm 5'3", looking at a few more lbs of fat loss and recomp.

Getting up early and running for 30 minutes before I even have coffee is apparently something I am capable of. Didn't see that one coming!
-
It's absolutely possible. I'm 44 and post-hysterectomy. The after pic is me a couple of months ago - I lost some weight a few years back also on MFP, then had a few years of medical problems, then lost the last 42 lbs last year. I didn't find it hard, the key was learning how much I needed to eat vs how much I was actually…

Top down, but with accelerated boob loss :/

Happy birthday and well done! I turned 44 in March and made a similar post :)

I've been overseas for two weeks and felt a confidence and freedom I haven't really felt before even though I wasn't logging anything while I was away. I've consciously overindulged a few times (staying in places with really good restaurants), but deliberately packed my gym/running gear even though it was a pain in the…

Fantastic :)

How wonderful it feels to finally get to the point where you can accept a genuine compliment without getting that squicky embarrassed feeling.

Sleeveless tops, blue jeans (I always felt conspicuous in anything but black), bikinis, pencil skirts and long boots - I love my choices now! I find myself steering clear of baggy t-shirts because my waist is so much smaller, I have a flat stomach now, and fitted stuff looks better. Anything that depends on boobs to hold…

I still can't get used to my shoulders being wider than my hips, and my hipbones are a source of constant wonder :)

Aw man. I love bacon! Sweet potato topped with two eggs, avocado and a slice of grilled back bacon and a drizzle of sweet chilli sauce. Breakfast of the gods :)
-
I've said 'you wouldn't say that if you saw me naked' to a few people now. Kills the conversation dead :)

Completed my first Tough Mudder, ran between all obstacles, did the vast majority of obstacles (had to skip three after busting my hand on Everest halfway round), demolished my comfort zone :)
