Yes, this is correct, but how do you know if the original included dressing or not? Maybe logging the "no dressing" version subtracts calories for the dressing, but the dressing wasn't included in the first place. It's the same problem in my mind.

Please note, I had a typo in my original post, my starting muscle mass percentage was 39.4% (as opposed to 54.8%). So my muscle mass % has gone up from 39.4% to 41% according to the scale. This gets thrown around a lot with the implication that it's a bad thing, but I really don't see why. I guess it just sounds bad so people assume it is bad. But ultimately this kind of thinking is dangerous and leads to people being anti-vaccine.

Agree with all of the above quotes. We're bombarded with all these schemes and tricks and fad diets that I think we get conditioned to think there has to be some gimmick or program to achieve weight loss. I was shocked when I found MFP and it was as simple as CICO.

The website says 2800 calories a day for 3-5 hours per week moderate exercise and 15% cut. If I decided to increase my caloric intake to that level, I assume I would want to get to that level gradually, right? Not just increase to that level tomorrow? That seems crazy high to me.

Thanks, so really no benefit to one or the other, just whatever is easiest? I'm a creature of habit, so I think it would be easier to target a flat level of calories every day instead of a "moving target".
