  • oh me too, @Wakey618 ... i don't even buy the Atkins bars... i'd eat the whole box in an hour. Ice cream is totally safe from me, though.
  • I always wonder what that kitty is looking at to get such an extreme reaction :open_mouth:
  • The pantry is an excellent idea! Thanks :)
  • Thanks everyone, very good information. Buying some today :) P.S. I love this group and the knowledge and experience represented here!

  • I haven't noticed any gallbladder problems, but this week I suspect I have some kidney stones. Lower right side back pain/cramps that come and go. It's not the agony described by many people with kidney stones, so I am pushing water and hoping that I pulled a muscle. BTW, my mother had her gallbladder removed…
  • what a doll!
  • The RDA for magnesium for women is 310-320 mg a day. If I eat avocados and walnuts, I am pretty sure I am getting enough to satisfy that much, but why take 1000 mg a day? I want the maximum benefit, as I am diabetic and have had heart issues. Please tell me why you are supplementing with 3x the RDA.

  • Sounds fantastic and very rich and filling! Definitely on the list
  • Not sure how to make my "starred" topics come up top
  • Shakes are the only Adkins product I use, mainly because of the sweet factor and convenience, too. However, I am seeking out recipes for the LCHF woe to make this a sustainable way of life since I know my body is "allergic" to starchy carbs. Since clearing out the pantry of prepackaged things and pastas, I have been…
  • I found this section in Livestrong.com (http://www.livestrong.com/article/500114-can-losing-weight-raise-your-cholesterol-temporarily/) Weight Loss May Raise Cholesterol Temporarily Although research indicates that weight loss will lower cholesterol, some people may experience a rise in cholesterol as they lose weight,…
  • @KnitOrMiss I asked if she tested thyroid function and she said she did not, as she didn't think it was indicated. As I said, a rural health center.
  • I was wondering about the effect of all the changes I made and didn't have the knowledge to discuss it with her... I am learning, but have a poor grasp of the effects of LCHF, etc on lab results. Plus, they just do a surface scan; it's a rural health center.
  • @RalfLott my BG readings are coming down from very high while Dr. kept upping the dose of insulin. When I began LCHF, my legs and feet were so swollen that I could barely walk up the stairs and after watching Dr. Fung, I decided to ditch the insulin and see what happened to BG. Ha! With the lower carbs and metformin, my…
  • Thank you for all your responses... since i hadn't read anything about it here was worried a bit that I was torpedoing myself with them. :)
  • Just saw my PCP today to discuss labs and my A1C was coming down nicely, even after I stopped insulin without permission... but my Triglycerides and cholesterol skyrocketed, after i stopped my statin, also without permission. So i agreed to go back on statin for the next 4 months until next labs to see if that corrects…
  • I have the prepackaged cheese sticks in my frig... for when i feel hangry. They're 1 oz., no measuring involved, plus i eat it like a kid would, by stripping it with my teeth :) so it takes longer to eat and provides some entertainment in the process lol
  • Good luck (sincerely) with your plan. For myself, it's more about that question on how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Perseverance and patience will win the day when you want to reach a goal.
  • I have only been on LCHF since April 1, feeling much better with less joint pain and more energy, as well. BUT, I have a health appointment tomorrow with labs... they're going to be wonky, I bet. I will be interested in the numbers, but I know I'll be fussed at! These people are very conventionally trained and won't…

  • I am just learning this myself, however one of the big things Dr. Fung says is to use bone broth during your fasts. Keeping up fluids and electrolyte balance are very important.
  • I'm 56 and on day 26 of logging. When I began LCHF, I wanted to lose half my body weight (286 to 145). So far, I have dropped 15 lbs on this WOE and have learned so much from so many in this group. And the support is fantastic! Thank you all for helping me and others understand how to do this for better health and weight…
  • Today, i wasn't hungry at all, ran errands like a dervish... then, whoa, starving! I made Fat Head pizza for the first time and scarfed the first piece so fast that I know it didn't hit bottom before i started the second piece. It was so rich that it made me sick! :( I think i need to start listening to my body hunger cues…
  • @Karlottap I do tomatoes on my deck in containers... i get huge quantities of cherry tomatoes. Neighbors thank me! :)
  • That fathead pizza sounds great! Thank you... almond flour is on the list now.
  • Holy Toledo! ok i was wanting some cheese sticks :)
  • http://eatfatlosefatblog.com/bacon-wrapped-mozzarella-sticks-low-carb-and-keto-recipe/ ok this is... sorry to have offended you, kirkor... lol
  • I have never opened a coconut before, but youtube has a bunch of how-to videos... on my list for tomorrow's shopping!
  • Great post... also, Noakes said one of his favorite snacks is coconut chips. Has anyone here made those? Sound great as a way to add more fats and fiber to diet.
