That's awesome, thanks for sharing!

Good question. The answer's going to sound a bit facetious but it's not meant that way: because I want to. I certainly wouldn't torture myself to learn an exercise I don't actually want to do. That's why I don't run. Edited to fix quoting mess up

Thanks all for the great advice and encouragement. I've been trying quite a while with knee press-ups but I guess I need to start even further back. StealthHealth, I'm going to give your suggestion a try because, yes, it's an issue with descent/ascent not form. I can hold a plank (not for long, mind) it's the movement that…

I'm not great at maths, but rough calculations suggest you would need to be in a deficit of ~2,700 calories A DAY to lose that much weight in that amount of time. That kind of deficit is impossible. And if it were possible it would be deeply, deeply unhealthy. You could probably aim for 2lbs a week and be down 20lbs by…

I've definitely experienced a wall. Weirdly, mine was at 12 stone too. It took me 6 months (in which I gained about 6lbs) to break through. Now I've broken through I seem to be mentally stuck again. Did the podcast provide any useful tips for overcoming it?

It could be coincidence. There are a LOT of really nasty viruses making the rounds at the moment and you might have just got a bit unlucky. My dad is generally pretty healthy, maybe one cold a year at most but this year he has had flu twice in two months. That said, if you're worried, definitely get some tests to check for…

I'm shamefully lazy and I just had to accept that. I buy meals that are really easy to prepare and weigh/log. Some of it is pre-prepared 'ready' meals or freezer stuff which I bulk out with lots of veg. On the plus side I eat out/have takeaways WAY less because it's so hard to log accurately and that bugs me. I also made a…

It's your game, right?

I can assure you (from experience) that needing something sweet everyday and being addicted to drugs are not remotely similar. You come across, at best, woefully naive comparing the two. On a weightloss note. I'm the same age, currently have about the same left to lose and the same (as does pretty much everyone, ever) busy…

When I got my foot done I kept things pretty simple for at least a week. It was 10 years ago and back then they wanted you to only wear open shoes (so sandals/ballet flats - it was January!!) after to aid the healing process, I'm sure that's different now but ask your tattoist. I can only imagine that sweaty trainers will…

I just got really sick of feeling bad. My poor diet was making my reflux worse. Lack of exercise wasn't helping my mental health. And I felt self-conscious ALL the time. I hated being in photos and buying clothes. I'm 20lbs down, 20-30 more to go (haven't decided where I'll settle yet) and I feel LOADS better. Healthier,…

I realised not long ago that I *have* to have carbs with every meal or I just don't feel full. My carbs are always way over the macro suggestions but I'm rarely famished or suffering from cravings so I guess it's working! My plan is to lose the weight and then when I'm in maintenance play around with macros. Right now,…

I have to limit my meat intake (for non-weight related reasons) so my other half has already claimed it for his lunch tomorrow. I'll just leave it and have a bit of an extra deficit today. Thanks all!

Well I don't for sure but it's giving me over 300 calories burned for an hour walking at 3.5mph. And similar for 30 minutes running at a (pitifully) slow pace. To be honest, I was simply going by what is repeated time and time again on these forums. Eat back 50% of exercise calories because MFP overestimates. Other…

This is incredibly useful, thank you!

Thanks for this. I had been losing really slow and steady for the first 9 months (18lbs in that whole time) and it has sped up a bit since doing more exercise. I just ran the numbers and I'm probably losing the tiniest amount over 1% so I will up my calories to bring me over 1200. I want to lose slowly, I want to get fit…
