I have never been a fashionista, but since losing weight I have developed a new found joy in clothing. I mean, I’m still not all up on the styles, but it is actually fun browse and chat about clothes now.

Log every bit of it.

I would have to jump rope for 2 hours straight to get that kind of calorie burn. I think you may he calculating your numbers wrong?

Popcorn - put it in a glass bowl with a plate on top and put it in the microwave. You can have so much for so few calories depending on what toppings.

Any Dutch people? Hagelslaag (chocolate or candy sprinkles to put on toast) and dropjes (salted black licorice).

“You don’t have to work out, you GET TO.” Love this. About 17 years ago I had cardiac surgery after a medical emergency. I have lived a pretty healthy active life since then. Last year I had a stroke and was complaining to the neurologist that in spite of my healthy lifestyle, I still had this happen. She pointed out that…

I minimize the barriers- have my water bottle filled, my laptop plugged in and ready and I workout in my pjs so I don’t have to change clothes (I workout first thing). Then I don’t engage the back and forth in my head about whether I should or not. My mom voice so to speak - don’t argue with me, just do it.

Thanks for the info about METS - I never really understood how it worked. That compendium is fascinating. I think the only way to be 100% certain of calories in or calories out is by trial and error. If you are accomplishing what you intended to accomplish then you have good numbers 😊

I like Fitness Blender videos on YouTube. You can filter for length, intensity, available equipment etc

“Yes, it might not burn as many calories as running but the misconception that yoga doesn’t burn many calories needs to go! I can burn 400-500 calories doing 50-60 minutes of vinyasa yoga.” I’m jealous. I can’t burn that many calories even with running or biking. 😩 The only thing that burns 10 calories a minute for me is…

A beautiful video full of strength, flexibility and athleticism. I did not in any way mean to imply that yoga was easy or restful. I understand that it requires great levels of fitness and strength. I am no expert on any exercise, but my research indicates that cardio exercise is the best for burning calories. Lifting…

Awareness is the first and hardest part! I struggle with that a lot of times and I have noticed that strict logging helps. The second thing for me is sometimes just as hard. But I am getting better at realizing in advance that doing some yoga, getting outside or any other distracting thing almost immediately puts me in a…

Sadly, although it is so great for you, yoga does not actually burn a lot of calories as it is slower moving and not much for weights. I use Les Mills Body Flow which is a hybrid that is faster moving and it does slightly better in burning calories.

I have been logging since January 1, 2016 - minus a few vacations when I decided not to log for the week.

23 cups of water a day seems excessive to me. You might want to check with your doctor if you are that thirsty as excessive thirst can sometimes be a symptom of other things.

I workout first thing in the morning and usually am happy to get going, but this morning I was definitely slow and reluctant. One of my strategies when I feel like that is to pick an easier workout and once I get going I am usually happy to go harder anyways. Sometimes good enough is good enough 😊

Depression?

Hmmm how did you accidentally order the weights? I was desperately looking for them for months last year. I finally made do with some body bars which do work quite nicely but we’re more expensive 😡. Anyways, I love Pump and Flow. Thinking about trying Barre.

Visit the thread called “what’s your NSV” in Success Stories. NSV means Non scale victory. For me, the NSV’s were excellent motivators when the scale or my eyes weren’t enough to keep me going.

I started doing Fitness Blender videos about 3 months ago and haaaattttteeeeddd the push ups. I wouldn't say I exactly love them now, but there is something so very delightful about persisting and overcoming and feeling the building strength in those muscles. I am now a person who joyfully does pushups!!

Exact same breakfast every day. A couple of different lunches with the occasional leftovers from dinner the night before. Dinner is different every day with a rotation of probably 10 -15 different meals depending on mood.

What is with all the old threads being resurrected? 🤔

I have asthma and that’s what it sounds like to me. Running is harder work than biking so maybe that’s why? Do you have a rescue inhaler you could use before you run? Obv consult your doc first.

Don’t keep things in the house that are conducive to spontaneous boredom eating. Also keep my hands busy - I have been learning the piano, sewing, yoga, gardening.

I lost 40 pounds during that period of my life. That being said, I have 10 pounds left to lose and I'm blaming menopause for the fact that I can't seem to do it - wouldn't want to blame the fact that I like my snacks, nope not doing that :D

Just be careful that you are paying attention to the details on the label. I have had times where the serving is 1/3 of the cookie or 1/2 a slice of bread.

Fall 5 times, get up 6.

My worst habit was mindless eating: Routinely grabbing a treat as I went through the checkout, eating food just because it was out in front of me, cleaning a plate just because it was there, eating food that I didn’t even particularly like just because everyone was. For a good part of my life I couldn’t understand why I…

After a heart attack, I got to work on my cholesterol levels by reducing my intake of animal products and saturated fats. I increased my activity levels as well and lost weight. My levels definitely came down. Your exercise can be anything. It doesn't sound like you are super thrilled with the idea of the Nordic Track. You…

That sounds like an new diet plan. Drink and run, the pounds will drop right off! And you’ll have lots of fun doing it! Someone needs to market it!! 😳
