  • Well I would argue the point the cyclists are only out when the Sun is out 😆. But good points.!
  • What are the concerns your SO is expressing? Is it related only to the weight loss or is he noticing behaviours related to your weight that are worrying him?
  • I have lost the equivalent of 4 bags of potatoes and when I think about how I used to carry those around with me 24/7 I think it’s no wonder I have more energy!
  • Good for you on coming here instead of the kitchen! If I’m feeling low I like to go to the Success Stories tab and checks out the NSV thread. It is always inspiring and reminds me of the millions of reasons to change my lifestyle.
  • I kept some bigger clothes for a while just as a reminder but then got sick of them hanging around and donated. I kept a belt that I like to put on sometimes to remind me of how far I have come.
  • If it does get harder as you get older, then you better get started this very minute!
  • Go to the cancer centre and meet people with head and neck cancer who have had their tongues cut out, lost their voice boxes or had their faces terribly disfigured. Or meet some lung cancer patients who are desperately gasping for air, who can’t breathe well enough to get out of bed. Maybe that will scare you - maybe not.…
  • It makes so much sense to pick whatever strategy works for you. There are many roads to get to where you’re going! Someone told me this week that if you are not experiencing physical symptoms then it is a mental block. I thought that was good info to work with, although I’m not really sure about how to work through a…
  • I started C25K a couple of months ago and definitely felt high after running even though it was only alternating 60 seconds running, 90 seconds walking. I don't feel the high so much any more, but just feel really, really good when I am done. Good luck!
  • Okay I did it!!! I’m in shock! I don’t really understand why they do it that way since it looks like week 6 is pretty reasonable again. I feel like it’s probably about challenging the mental blocks which were definitely there. Anyways- I’m glad to have finished that!
  • You go girl!!! I look forward to following along as you knock that 5k on its *kitten*! 😁
  • I admire your determination but I do wonder why it is so necessary to do something that you clearly don’t enjoy. I decided at the beginning of my fitness journey that doing things I enjoy is the only way to really be sustainable. I started C25K because I always secretly wanted to run and I have found that I am loving it…
  • I take SJW related to travel anxiety. I suffer from heightened anxiety in the weeks prior to a trip and did not want to go on a regular anti-anxiety med as the anxiety is not bad the rest of the time. I find it helps to take the edge off - it helps me not to ruminate on negative things, it helps me to sleep and it helps Me…
  • I have often wondered if there is a direct correlation between intake and weight. From my experience I would say not. But it would be cool if there was a way to superimpose the net calories into the weight report.
  • Welcome! It sounds like you have been suffering. I’m glad you were able to take some steps toward better mental and physical health. I hope you have a good doctor to talk to about your depression and some good people to support you! Wishing you well on your journey!
  • I run because my patient who lost half a lung did a Tough Mudder and I thought if she can, why can’t I? Also because I always thought it would be really cool to be graceful like an antelope (although I look more like a penguin at the moment). I run because I mentioned it once and my daughter pounced all over it and got me…

  • Just finished W4D2! Those five minutes of running are killer! Although by about minute 4 I seemed to settle into it and was thinking yeah maybe I can do this. Anyways that one is in the bank. I hope to finish week4 on Tuesday and then I will assess what’s next and whether I need to repeat this week. My 2 daughters and…
  • That sounds painful! 😖 I did week 3 day 1 in spite of the rain - well it was just spitting really.
  • Just finished Week 2 Day 3! Here’s a pic of my running view. No pelicans around here, but lots of Canada Geese. Last spring there were lots of loons passing through as they migrated north.
  • Woohoo! Look at you go! I started about the same time as you. Just did week 2 day 2 yesterday. Not sure that I will complete it in 2 weeks as my knee gets irritated if I do all 3 per week. May just do 2 per week for now. I don’t particularly love it during. But at the end I get a rush for sure!
  • I just learned you can easily pit fresh cherries with a straw!
  • Haha - you’re calling that slow? I can beat that 😁. I have been at it since January 2016 and am just approaching 40 pounds lost. Loving the road less travelled 😁
  • I do because I already spent zillions of years telling myself little lies about how much I was eating. That didn’t work for me so I decided to do something different.
  • Presumably your life is bigger (pardon the pun  ) than just your size. You went to college! You have a family! What other things have you accomplished? What other things are you interested in? What other things do you love about yourself.
  • This may be different than what you are describing as it is not continuous for me, but I have noticed that I look forward to my meals and think about them way more. Previously it was just constant eating and very little appreciation for my food. Now I enjoy the spaces in between meals, enjoy looking forward to it, I pay…
  • I keep to myself at the gym. So do the other people. Sometimes they say hi.
  • Go check out the NSV thread in “success stories”. It will remind you of all the wonderful things you have accomplished besides decreasing the number on the scale.
  • Three things made a difference for me. I stopped mindlessly picking up junk food as I went through the temptation stands at every checkout. I just became aware that this was a habit I had developed and with that awareness checked myself every time until it stopped being a habit. Secondly I stopped keeping junk food in the…
  • A Timmies medium regular is 105 calories. In Ontario all restaurants must provide nutrition info and most of it is accessible online.
  • Thanks for all the answers! I guess I will haul banana peels around for a bit until I get a good idea of average. Hope my coworkers don’t see my banana with writing on it
