  • Hiked for 40 minutes, did Body Flow at the gym, plan to ride my bike this afternoon because the weather is beeeeautifulllll!!!
  • I only ever aimed for 1/2 pound a week of weight loss. I'm not interested in deprivation plus I feel like at that rate, I am learning sustainable habits for the rest of my life. I have lost 37 pounds. I am currently working to lose 1/3 pound per week as I work on the last 8 pounds.
  • You are half the person you used to be! :o
  • I wonder if you are suffering from depression? It might be good to get assessed for that.
  • I don’t understand why the whoosh effect is so widely accepted around here. As far as I can tell there is no scientific evidence and this community usually jumps all over any kind of “woo.” As far as I can tell weight loss is not linear. Sometimes it jumps up and sometimes it jumps down. There are an infinite number of…
  • Energy! No more sluggishness! No more knee pain! No more back pain! Walk taller! No more sugar crashes! There’s a lovely thread in “Success Stories”. It has about 25 thousand comments regarding non scale victories. I looooove going there when I need a little motivation.
  • I grew up similar to this and it is only now in my fifties that I have started to challenge the thinking. There is nothing inherently worthwhile about finishing your plate. Certainly not in comparison with loving and caring for yourself. I try to focus on taking smaller plates and portions. And when I mess up, I focus on…
  • I really know nothing about this. But I wonder, if you can’t direct which fat you want to burn, how would you be able to direct your body to burn up your excess skin rather than muscle or organs?
  • What would you call that painfully slow? How long did it take you to gain the weight?
  • I keep very little of it in the house. Sometimes I get moved to buy it and then I either moderate it nicely or I find myself with no self control. When I have no self control I have come to realize that eating it all is less virtuous than throwing it out. So I throw it out as soon as I clue in to what I’m doing.
  • Tim Hortons chocolate dip donut has only 200 calories. I make room for one sometimes
  • There’s a high protein low fat cheese cake recipe in the food an nutrition thread. I haven’t tried it yet but it has rave reviews
  • I believe that BMI is an insurance tool whereby they calculate a person's odds of getting ill. If you are within a "normal" BMI, your chances of illness are minimized. So in that sense it is useful. I think it's a helpful measure if not used in a hard and fast way.
  • I sometimes get it if I move too quickly from one position to another especially if my head is down, like in a forward fold, and then it quickly comes up. Usually being mindful of transitioning more slowly helps.

  • The absolute pleasure of feeling hungry, sitting down to a delicious meal that satisfy that hunger and never feeling guilty about eating because I have planned and decided everything I’m going to eat.
  • This is your opportunity to decide if you will do this long term or not. Those kinds of days will happen all along the way. That’s not the real problem because all it means is it will take one day longer to reach your goal. The real issue is whether you will pick yourself up and carry on with the life you actually really…
  • I’m 52. I’ve lost 35 pounds since January 2016. My initial goal was to lose 1/2 pound a week but that seemed too hard and it ended up being an average of about 1/3 pound per week - more than that at the beginning, less near the end of last year. I’m hoping to lose about 10 more this year. I did it by entering my info into…
  • I do Body Flow classes at the gym about 3-4 times a week. They’re a lovely combination of yoga, Pilates and tai chi. You definitely will build strength! Not in a body building kind of way of course. But the warrior poses are very strong and you will probably find your legs shaking at the beginning. The balance poses are…
  • I feel like in my 50's it all started to make sense and I finally understood how to lose weight. So it is hard and I wish that I done this long ago, but I also don't find it overly difficult. If you are finding it difficult maybe your goals are too drastic?
  • To do a full back bend and to wear size 5 jeans
  • Doesn’t really matter if you lose 20 and realize you aren’t happy with how you look - just take another couple years and lose 20 more!
  • Is it suspicious that nobody who has eaten bitter zucchini has responded? And OP has not come back to this thread? Hope you didn’t get sick OP!!!
  • Sorry this isn’t really the thread topic but Reddit has a thread called “a bra that fits” that gives precise instructions on how to fit your own bra.
  • Been logging for 2 years. It takes about 3 minutes per day. I will likely do it for the rest of my life.
  • Me too! 22 pound in 2016. 15 pounds in 2017. Hoping for 10 in 2018. Look at the turtles go!!
  • Just wanted to respond as a slow loser who had no intention of going gung ho or suffering too much as I lose weight. I started out 2 years ago and have another year to go before I reach my goal of 50 pounds lost. I am disciplined but I rarely suffer for my weight loss. I had no interest in weighing every crumb or obsessing…
  • I figure it will take me 3 years. I’m 2 years in now. Lost 22 pounds in 2016, lost 15 in 2017, plan to lose 13 in 2018. Slow loser right here!
