  • Moi! and if I hear one more lady say "I don't want to look bulky", I don't know... -I don't go as much as I used to though, I do what I call "greasing the joints", just enough to keep me in the swing of things. But I love how it can transform a body when it is done with a plan in mind.
  • I'm on the 1200, and I'm still asking myself what I'm going to eat. For breakfast I find that 1 toast with cottage cheese and banana is filling, and I'll have 4 or 5 almonds after that. The bread I use is spelt, the slices are not huge, so I have leftover cottage cheese and banana. Depending on what I'm eating the rest of…
  • You think too much.
  • Oh God. It's posts like these that remind me why I, like xzyst, prefer a more solitary approach to life.[/quote] I don't know what xzyst is, and I'm not sure if I'm being insulted. But the "Oh God!" is telling me it leans toward the not favourable. Carry on then!
  • Interesting. Sounds like you hang with the wrong crowd(s), whether it's FA or the Diet people or diet buddies. Sounds like you feel better when you are on your own. I would guess that it's because you are listening to yourself, and not to what you think society wants. But it also sounds like your life revolves around your…
  • I don't think the author is trying to promote fat-shaming I just think she's saying "let's get real" and stop trying to normalize obesity. As she points out, you wouldn't try to normalize anorexia so why this pretense with the other extreme? Both are detrimental to one's health. Furthermore, I've yet to hear of too many…
  • Every morning same thing. 1 spelt toast with 1/2 cup cottage cheese and half a banana. Have added a tsp of maple syrup and some cinnamon on top cos I can't deal with the 1% cottage cheese. Am going back to the 2% after I finish this container. Sometimes I'll have 1 toast and a half (when I fell a little crazy - woohoo!)…
  • I'm 57 and I thought my increased weight was the "new normal" and I just had to deal with the menopause look, i.e. the little belly and added weight on the hips, but now I see that it doesn't have to be that way. But it does take effort, and reading about other people's journeys helps to keep me on track.
  • Add me cos I don't know how to add anyone :-)
  • Awesome! Doesn't it feel great to just feel lighter? it makes everything so much easier, you feel like you can fly! Congratulations!
  • I only have about 3 pounds left and it's a real struggle. Just when I think I'm getting ahead the weight shifts back up. I'm thinking that a lot of what the numbers on the scale say is just a reflection of the chemical reaction my body has with food. I feel that I'm better off gauging my weight by the way my clothes fit…
  • Toast with peanut butter and bacon. And the other day I had a ruffled chip pita sandwich, which is probably why I'm now here.
  • I always underestimate the exercise calories and overestimate the food amount. I remember seeing a show where they tested a professional athlete on a stationary bicycle exactly for the purpose of "numbers" accuracy and there was a discrepancy between what the machine recorded and the way the lab recorded it (complete with…
  • Thanks all for the answers! (and I meant to say "cumulative" in my op not accumulative, just saying)
  • @rileysowner. Thanks for the vid. Wow it's so true. Have to go prepare lunch for tomorrow. I can see that I have to be very diligent with portions.
  • @queenliz99 Interesting! I had to laugh at the peanut butter, it is my favourite food! I have only touched it once so far, thank God! I will be more cautious with my measuring spoons. Although I can say that I do only use 1/2 tsp to (earth balance) butter my toast, and it's a bugger trying to spread that. And thanks for…
  • @pwoodroof. Thank you, I will look into this.
  • Yes I do use the scale but not for everything, I've started that for where meat/poultry is concerned, but I tend to always overestimate my portions, in other words I err on the side of caution. Because I sometimes weigh something and it says only a few ounces, but I also recall that meat portions should not be larger than…
  • A) You're not "pathetic", you're just "you" - don't use a qualifier. You are just "you". B) Try really hard not to eat the sweet. Or reduced it drastically, like I'm talking 1/4 tsp in yr. coffee or whatever you have in the day and that's it! It's not supposed to be easy. In my experience, you have to go through the pain…
