  • No. HYE looked all over for your glasses only to realize you are wearing them?
  • I have owned mine for almost a month. Track all my food on MFP and my exercise with the fit bit. They sync with each other. Love it.

  • I could really use more motivation myself. Have gradually increased my steps over the last 2 weeks and have reached 12, 000. I don't want to lose this feeling of accomplishment, so would appreciate having others to help build me up. Sorry if the following question sounds silly: How do I add a friend? I found my fitbit user…
  • I felt the same way when I started in November. In fact, I didn't really notice until I dropped 30 pounds and had to buy new clothes. However, other people saw it right away and commented. I have now dropped 49 pounds with an additional 50 left to go. There are still days where I flook into the mirror and feel discouraged…
  • Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I will revise my goals so they keep me motivated, and focus more on fitness and less on scales. It is easy to fall into that numbers trap.
  • Thanks for the answers. I do a structured work out 3 times a week and then some general walking the other days. There are times when I eat about 1100 calories and other times where I may get in 1300 calories. This helps me know where I am in the scheme of things.
  • I am diabetic and for the longest time treated carbs as the enemy. In November my dietician helped me understand the role nutrients play in my diet and why it is more important to look at the overall picture rather than concentrating on just one component. Carbs, Fat, and Protein can be good or bad, depending upon the…
  • Thanks Yarwell. I am attempting to apply what I am learning.
  • I am by no means a researcher. However I am currently enrolled in a class where we learn more about how to examine conclusions presented from research projects involving animal behavior. It has given me better understanding about how often we accept findings without actually looking at the methods used and how the results…
  • I have only been working out for 5 months now, but the gym I belong to has a great instructor who helps us develop a plan tailored for our needs. He also modifies exercises for those of us in his class to match our abilities, yet challenge each of us. Here is a general outline of what we concentrate on. The actual…
  • Running can be hard on joints of those (like me) who are obese. I jumped right into running and ended up with knee problems and a strained hip flexor muscle. My ortho recommended slow distance walking for at least 3-4 weeks and gradually increasing my speed and distance until I am doing speed walking for 3-4 miles.…
  • I am diabetic and watch carbs closely. Found Prego Light Smart Traditional Italian sauce that fits into my diet. 1/2 cup has 45 calories and 11 carbs. I use it when I am in a rush. Add veggies to make it chunky and more filling.
  • 5/1 Walked dog for 30 minutes. 5/2 45 minute conditioning class and 15 minutes stretching
  • Thanks everyone. My endocrinologist and I talked about this Friday. He basically said don't become obsessed with limiting all carbs. They are not the enemy. Avoid getting carried away, but as long as my blood sugars are doing well, don't sweat it. Stay within the initial range for carbs (150-180) and balance it out with…
  • This is just what I needed. Late night snacks are my weakness. No eating after 8:30pm for this month.
  • I too have bad knees and have seen an orthopedic for them. Dropping weight was his first suggestion. Also avoid hard running, and concentrate on hip strengthening. Had strained my hip flexor and my physical therapist gave me stretching and strengthening exercises. One great exercise that helped with my form is called a hip…
  • I attended my first yoga class last week. It was slow and relaxing, but did contain several poses I found challenging to complete. However our instructor kept reminding us to do what we were comfortable with and not to worry if we had trouble. She was extremely encouraging and no one there seemed to care that I was clumsy…
  • Thanks so much for acknowledging my post. It helps to know others are going through similar experiences. I hope to become more active here and look forward to learning a lot from everyone. My initial goal is to reach 199 pounds. That will mark the first time in over 9 years I have been under 200 pounds.
