Counting calorie deficits

This may have already been answered elsewhere, but I couldn't locate it.

MFP recommends daily calorie goals. If I have 1200 calories as daily target and eat 1050 one day and 1300 the next, do they balance out?

Lots of people track by the week, not by the day. The system won't correct it within the day, but you can look at your deficit for the rolling week and see it accounted for.

Thanks for the answers. I do a structured work out 3 times a week and then some general walking the other days. There are times when I eat about 1100 calories and other times where I may get in 1300 calories. This helps me know where I am in the scheme of things.

I mostly care about my weekly average.

Don't forget to eat back calories from the structured workouts.
1200 doesn't leave you much room for extra energy when you exercise. Enter your activity into MFP and eat back 50-75%. It will allow you to perform better throughout the day as well as when you exercise.
Your deficit is in your basic 1200 cals so you will still lose as planned.

Eating to your weekly goal is fine.

    Cheers, h.
