Chicken sausage, green beans, radishes and tomatoes, sautéed with a little creamy tomato sauce and a side of hasselback zucchini with turkey bacon and grated Parmesan cheese - about 400 calories.

All of this! I am in maintenance now and this all still applies. Lifelong sustainable action plan right here.

The combo of peanut butter and chocolate... and just peanut butter anything in general... heck, peanuts, too. Just don't let me have anything with peanuts because I won't stop going back for more.

Diet Snapple Tea is great for me - 10 cal per bottle and available just about every grocery store/convenience store around me at least. Otherwise, Perrier and La Croix are great carbonated flavored waters as others have suggested. I prefer Perrier because I can pick up a case in glass bottles which I like more than cans. I…

Two NSV today - I went into Wegmans today during my 3pm slump... I had zero willpower and wanted to buy some snacks so bad! Walked out with grape tomatoes instead. I routinely do laps around my neighborhood. After I finished my run, I was walking to cool down. Two older ladies stopped me to say they've been watching me…

So much good info in this thread - the goal is to create a sustainable lifestyle. Another suggestion to add to the mix: go, but make it about spending your time with friends, not food/drinks. I am gluten free and will often times go to a social event where all the food either is coated in breading or deep fried in the same…

I enjoy my Fitbit Blaze, but do recognize that it overestimates my TDEE by about 300-500 cal a day. It does work well in conjunction with MFP and Map My Run. Once I was able to figure out the average it overestimated, i was able to truly use it as a tool to complement my healthy lifestyle goals. Before I realized the…

I'll go over a problem spot for 15-30 seconds, then hit it up a second time toward the end of my routine if I feel like it could benefit from a second go around.

Omg - I simultaneously love you and hate you all for introducing me to protein fluff/ice cream (not sure which one I actually made) - 1 sample pack Quest PB, 1 tray of ice cubes, 1/4 cup SF syrup and 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt mixed with some water since I didn't have any milk on hand. There was SO MUCH VOLUME! I wasn't…

I started backloading my meals for the day - adding my evening snack and dinner first, then filling in an afternoon snack, then lunch and whatever calories are left go to breakfast. I've been able to cut 200-250 calories out of breakfast to move into dinner/evening snacks and that helped me a lot with avoiding binging -…

Thanks for sharing this story - what really resonated with me from it is the amazing amount of determination that must come with avoiding pasta and bread as an Italian. My step-mom is Italian and when I told her that it was determined that I needed to go gluten free for health reasons, her response was "then what can you…

I do that, too, @middlehaitch - I go to my local bakery and just browse around. Of course, it's pretty easy to say no to the goodies since I am gluten sensitive... but I do enjoy remembering what danishes and cinnamon rolls taste like - gluten free versions just don't compare. *Sigh*

This x1000 - I keep a jar in my fridge door for easy access. Whenever I want to graze, I grab a dill pickle or two first. Helps a lot!

Peanut butter - can't keep it in the house or the entire jar is gone in a flash. I keep PB2 around as a substitute...

Two thoughts, OP. I've been in your shoes so many times.... 1. Buy the cookies and on the way to the car at the grocery store, empty half the cookies into the parking lot trash can. I know it feels like a waste of money, but it does help with portion control. Can't eat it if it's in the trash! Another option if you have a…

Hi OP, my recommendation is to portion control in advance of eating on your cheat day. For example, I really love cottage cheese. I could eat an entire tub (and I have) in one sitting. However, after eating so much dairy at once, I get quite nauseous and I hate that feeling - but damned if that feeling, as much as I hate…

My cliche statement is "a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips" And to OP - I guess I lucked out. Whenever I have trigger food in the house, I usually end up giving the leftovers to the dog so long as it's safe to do so. Otherwise, in the trash it goes if I don't feel like it's worth budgeting calories for the next…

                That's fairly on point.

This is such a trigger food for me.... especially the version with a touch of honey. Omg, get in my belly! I could eat the whole jar...

A lot of what's been said already... driven by bad bloodwork, I knew I needed to change my diet. I also knew I didn't just want to lose weight; I wanted to be fit. Lost 30 lbs and traded photography for running as a main source of personal entertainment starting early 2016. Maintaining since November. I underestimated how…

My husband had ZERO interest on joining my health journey back in Jan 2016, which was fine. I wasn't doing it for him; I was doing it for me. I lost 40 lbs, gained way more energy, sleep better, etc, due to healthy diet changes... guess what? My husband eventually came around to start following some of the same general…

Maintenance calories are different for every person. The 1200 calorie recommendation is the minimum that anyone should eat, ever, just to do daily basic functions.

Gluten free is working for my psoriasis - photo of my knee on a regular $200 topical ointment versus no ointment/gluten free.

So much THIS! Protein first, then the fiber from the carbs, followed closely by healthy fats. If I don't follow this protocol, Lord help my kitchen floorboards, because I become peckish for the rest of the night.

This August will mark 10 years smoke free for me... and I STILL get cravings every once in a while though they pass quickly. Best decision I ever made. Kudos to you and everyone else who made the decision to quit. It's the best feeling in the world to get rid of that vice!

Cauliflower oatmeal - rice cauliflower in food processor; add banana to food processor; pour mixture in a sauce pan; add cut apples, cashew milk, SF maple syrup and cinnamon; simmer for 20-30 minutes. I woulda thought you were absolutely off your rocker if you asked me to try cauliflower oatmeal 2 years ago but now I eat a…

A few years ago, a moment in time was crystallized in my memory - my husband made an off-hand comment that my body was perfect. All the curves in all the right places. I remembered roughly what that weight was when I started my journey to be healthier last year and used that memory as a motivation tool to get back to that…
