I aimed for the low end of the BMI scale (reached it), now I am building muscle.

I maintain at 1600 calories. Do you know your maintenance level? If you are not loosing, you are not in a deficit. Also, use a food scale to log accurately. I was stuck in a plateau for over a year before using a food scale and discovered I was eating WAY more than I thought I was.

Actually, that was part of my weight gain, my husband has always been overweight. He taught me awesome food combinations like Doritos dipped in Frito Cheese Dip and dumping ranch on everything, including pork chops.

Offer to be the family chef. In exchange you get to make the grocery list

Food scale, meal prep Sunday and a schedule that I put the same amount of respect as my work schedule.

I feel you. I was also a little underweight during HS and VERY underweight college. I can not eat when stressed out. I have zero appetite and will vomit if I force solid foods. I used to drink slim fast and ensure just to get calories and nutrition into me. I have large breasts though and was often accused of having…

I am a mixture of both. I give myself rewards for reaching goals but also turn to r/fatlogic on Reddit to stay in reality. I also believe in the BLERCH. I am at my goal weight now, the temptation to revert to old habits that made me fat still hangs around. I am finding maintenance is harder than actually loosing weight.

That is terrible! I am sorry people suck.

Too much extra fat can cause health problems too. I definitely feel better 40lbs lighter. I also get sick far less often than when I was overweight. I am at the low end of the BMI scale and feel fantastic. Most underweight (probably all) adults have a pre existing condition that is making them underweight. Preparing…

I flat out tell them they are being incredibly rude and it is not ok.

I did meal prep Sunday and used a food scale for portion control.

Nope.

No Matter Your Size you WILL have negative/untrue judgments said about you. I noticed a lot more women were nicer to me when I was fat. I was thin shamed a lot growing up and it did cause me to develop a bad relationship with food that I have worked very hard on improving. Shaming anyone is not ok. Personally I put obesity…

5'7 120-123lbs been maintaining since August

Focus on your sleep, mindset and nutrition first.

Eating at a deficit and using a food scale for accuracy works. If diet pills actually worked there wouldn't be any fat people.

As long as you are at a deficit you will loose weight. Something to keep in mind is smaller bodies require less energy so the amount of calories you can have to remain in a deficit lowers as you loose weight.

No

Exactly.

They are trying to make themselves feel better about their weight. Ignore them.

Sometimes I have to remind myself that even models have rolls when they slouch. Work on your poster, stand tall and confident.

Is it possible that this person honestly cares/is interested about your progress and isn't even noticing you are eating "bad" food?
-
Your calorie budget should be based on current size. 1200 should not be the default

Those people are jerks. You can loose weight while having occasional treats. Stop caring about what strangers could be possibly thinking about you too. There is no need to justify anything. You owe them nothing. Heck, most don't even have an opinion about you, you are just another person walking around to them. I don't…

I have zero patience for fatlogic now.

Get a food scale and use MFP to calculate your calorie goal. Maintaining weight loss is much more difficult than actually loosing the weight. The reason you bounced back to 160 is because your BMR lowered (smaller bodies require less energy) but your eating habits returned to what they were when you were 160. Your calorie…

If you want to get in gym time, it requires making that a priority. Kill your TV. It is amazing how much time TV steals from you. Meal prep Sunday is also a huge time saver. My friends don't see me M-F. I get up at 5:15am everyday so I have time to catch up on laundry and dishes before work and I have a strict bedtime of…

So much this! Also, spoiler alert: maintenance is more difficult than loosing the weight. You MUST fix your relationship with food if you hope to keep your progress.

For the majority of the population it is accurate. I notice typically those who scream "BMI is BS" are clearly overweight and in denial about it. For average non-athletes it is pretty accurate.
