  • First of all, congratulations on the weight loss!! I am a month in to my low calorie diet and still seeing results, but I am expecting to plateau in a few months. I've read some research in preparation and it seems like a diet break is needed if you plateau. Our metabolic rate unfortunately decreases when we take in less…
  • I've found coffee to help with hunger pangs. Black is best, but I have mine with semi-skimmed milk and 2 sweeteners (37cals) and that suppresses my hunger for a few hours. Decaf works as well.
  • Maybe your doctor meant refined carbs? That is bad for diabetics. But I dont see a problem with low GI carbs. Following this post as I want to have a low carb, high protein diet as well and am struggling to keep my carbs low. Im a carb monster hahahahaha.
  • Working out can make it seem like you're maintaining due to body recomposition. Burning off fat and building muscle. Weight is unreliable then. Have you been measuring yourself? That can give you a better idea of your fat loss. You could've lost 7lbs of fat and gained 5lbs of muscle 🤷🏻‍♀️
  • Lol we all go out for drinks and throw parties and whatnot. All good looking, all girls/gays. Only have one straight male on staff and he's...erm...not so pleasing on the senses. Or maybe that's just me. Havent heard anything through the grapevine. Lol! We all try to eat quite healthily, and some of us are (not me). But…
  • I do rotating shifts so can be even more confusing. I've settled on logging based on time instead of meals, so 12-6am, 6-12pm, 12-6pm and 6pm-12am. Stopped labelling my meals as it got confusing quite fast. Hahaha. Just logged food when i ate them.
  • Ahahaha FYI the telly never shows real hospital life. Does my head in. Doctors never cannulate, draw blood, check obs, or stay with patients as they have an existential crisis. Also, my team ranges from 25-45, with most staff members in the 25-35 range. Quite a young lot, i must say, compared to the ones you work with.…
  • I would recommend NOT dating coworkers. Same field yes, same workplace no. That's a lot of drama you dont need when *kitten* is going down. Lol. Plus all the places I work for actually ban relationships in the workplace, and dont let partners/spouses work in the same department, if ever they are working in the same…
  • Nurse of 9.5yrs here, and really quite obese :s i guess the one thing i should have done when i first started is develop healthy habits from the start. Nursing is so bad for your health with the rotating shifts and busyness of the ward. You'd think you'd eat less and burn more calories as you're running off your feet that…
  • Awww haha thanks! I just really need to stay away from food as once i start, i cant stop!
  • I dont even have trigger foods to avoid :D i can eat whatever, doesnt matter to me. I've recognised it is impulse control and will power i am very low on, but i am so bad at motivating myself and most times i self-sabotage :( i've fallen off the bandwagon and gotten on again so many times i feel like all of this is too…
  • Glad to see everything went fine. Just as a quick point, some references state that a normal heart rate is 60-100bpm, and some says 50-90bpm. A heart rate of 58 with no significant electrical changes (arrythmias) is nothing to worry about, especially if the person's clinically well with other observations within…
  • Keeping an eye on this thread, as i stress eat a lot! Actually, stress is not the only trigger :( im an emotional eater. I eat when im happy, when im sad, when im bored, etc. Dont keep any snacks in the house, but i'd quite happily cook and eat anyway. Portion control is my downfall :/ i'm trying meal planning at the…
  • I have the garmin vivosmart hr. Waterproof. Tracks steps, sleep, and calories burned (uses heart rate to track calories during exercise). Also tells you to move when you've been inactive for too long. I dunno about the new fitbits, but all fitbits up to the charge hr are not waterproof.
  • Good question. Mine does the same. MFP has a lower amount of calories burned than garmin. But I don't really mind coz I only eat part of it back anyway. Would be interesting to know why though.
  • I have the garmin vivosmart hr. Depends on what you want really. There are a lot of cheap, good value trackers out there if you don't care about tracking heart rate. My garmin has 24hr HR monitoring, steps, active minutes, exercise tracking, custom workouts, notifications, stairs, calories burned, etc. Only thing is if…
  • Woah that just gave me an extra 100cals. Love it! Hahahaha. But are you saying that I'm better off just sticking with what MFP gives me rather than a TDEE if I don't have a set routine every week? Ah, that's what I'm trying to do as well. Still in it's early stages and still looking for something that will work for me. But…
  • I'm exactly like this! Check to #1, #2 and #3. I've also set my activity level to sedentary and sync in whatever exercise I do through my hr monitor. I don't have a routine as I work rotating shifts, that's why I liked that method. But like I was saying, I don't know if I'm sabotaging myself with this as I've set MFP to…
  • Omg I love you <3 hahaha! I so agree! But then my love of food is what got me to this situation and I have to master it! I guess the question is how much can I cram into my mouth and still lose? :D The link doesn't work for me. Maybe it only works for people in the US? Anyway, MFP gives me 1320 as sedentary and TDEE 1524…
  • Ahahaha but I do so love numbers. Plus my previous habit, as I wrote, had me taking in a massively variable amount of calories. Yes but my TDEE only includes light activity and 1-2times/week exercise. I just wanted to clarify if it was safe to stay at that level considering that on my gym days I can burn anywhere from…
  • I have the garmin vivosmart hr and i love it! I havent owned any other fitness tracker so i cant really compare, but it's perfect for my needs. Tracks my steps, hr, calories burned, exercise, sleep, and most especially, it tells me to move when im inactive for too long. Havent got a complaint so far :)
  • Just added loads of people. Im AshleyK. Got my vivosmart hr a few days ago and just learning to get the hang of it!
  • Added everyone! Im AshleyK :)
  • Added! Just got my watch and looking for some friends. Cant run any distance at all at the moment :s My username is AshleyK :)
  • Just got my vivosmart hr yesterday. Feel free to add me! My username is AshleyK
  • Well, my garmin connect steps are appearing in mpf, currently at 555 as im preparing for my day. But the calories burned aren't syncing. I dunno, maybe just a few teething problems as im using the device.
  • Im looking to use mine for steps, heart rate monitoring, calories burned, exercise logging and sleep monitoring. But mostly to kick my bum into gear whenever i become lax with moving about. Hahahaha! On another note, how do i add people? Another question: does active calories not sync with mfp? I've already done a number…
  • I am now the super excited owner of a garmin vivosmart hr :D :D :D started fiddling with it 1.5hrs ago and liking it so far! Wooooooo!
  • I have narrowed down my search to either the fitbit charge hr or the garmin vivosmart hr and finally decided to get the garmin. Ordered it 3min ago and due to arrive on thursday, so here's hoping i made the right choice!
