Pretty sure he/she was being sarcastic.

Hi! I lift heavy by myself all the time. Instead of going to failure (where your spot would normally step in and help you with that last one), just go to the last rep before failure. You'll get the feel of it and you'll know.

Thanks!

Thanks, everybody!!

Sorry, I see how my question came across. I meant in terms of tracking calories burned.
-
To address your actual question, though, I don't think you can lose inches without losing body fat.

Amazing work!

It depends on how you want to look. You said you wanted to look "in shape", but that's subjective. If being thin is what you think is a healthy look then you just need to be in a caloric deficit and don't really need exercise (this is what people call skinny fat, although the term bothers me). If the more athletic/toned…

You can be eating healthy, but not be in a calorie deficit. Are you weighing/tracking food? Have other goals that aren't scale related so when the scale doesn't move, you know you're still making progress.

Hi! I'm 40, but no hysterectomy. I always plan an afternoon snack ahead of time. Something that I love and look forward to so I don't get tempted by other things.
-
Thanks and you're welcome. I've been there too. I've got two young daughters and when people tell me, in front of them, "you look so skinny!" as a compliment I make a point to talk about how I've worked hard to become strong and healthy. Skinny is a bad word in our house ;)

Here's a great article to read about "why the scale lies." You don't have to stop weighing yourself, but also take weekly measurements and monthly pictures. http://www.healthdiscovery.net/articles/scale_lies.htm

All the time!

Don't downplay your success - you look amazing, fit, and healthy! I'm working to have a booty like yours ;)
-
I love these-you all inspire me to keep at it!
-
Have you increased your protein? That can cause...intestinal irritation ;)
-
Agreed, especially since you were told not to lose any more weight/fat (assuming that's still the case).
-
It's a wonderful feeling!
-
Your hard work is really paying off - I can definitely see the difference!

Hi! I'm 5'6". The first pic was two years ago at 145 lbs and the second was taken a few weeks ago and I'm at 122 (a little under goal weight, but I'm looking to bulk in the fall)

Thank you - well said.

I've got two daughters, work full-time, and am married to a husband who works full-time. I work out 6 days a week and don't feel guilty about it one bit. It's self-care and is every bit as important as family time. You're a great example to your children - keep going!

When I'm trying to build muscle I, personally, like to eat 1 gram of protein for every lb I weigh. I find that I can't get there, and still enjoy my carbs and fats, with just food alone, so I supplement with a protein powder. I take one serving of whey (fast absorption) with almond milk after my morning workout and then…

Your metabolism can't be permanently damaged by a starvation diet, but you still shouldn't diet that way. There is lot's of good advice here, please listen.

This IS how I fit the foods I like into my plan. There are rules to follow for every successful plan-they're not that hard to keep in mind. For some people with lower daily calorie goals it can be really difficult to fit in some of the more higher calorie foods they like.

I'm sorry that happened to you. Keep going back and show him what you're made of!

I think that's a lot of us in a nutshell! It's great you're taking this step - welcome!
