I have mild hypertension and I take medication for it. My doctor did a thorough heart check before letting me take phentermine and so far it hasn't affected my blood pressure. However, she also prescribed it for my 23 year old daughter who weighs around 250. Her blood pressure was slightly high, but it seems that…

angie, I'm tempted to ask my doctor about an increased dose. I suppose though I should do some research on how it affects my health in the long run before I do that. I don't have a "fear" of it--after all, it's been prescribed since 1959.

I've been on phen since May of 2016. It worked really well and jump started me to lose 40 pounds by November. Then the holidays and a February cruise made me lazy and I think the phen doesn't affect me the same way now. I've gained back about 12 pounds. I truly believe the gain though is my own slacking--the phen probably…

Oh, I forgot . . that's too bad that you don't like your doctor! Mine is a 45 year old woman and I adore her. She and her daughters struggle with weight, too, so she has a lot of empathy. I've never liked women physicians very well, but she is great.

My doctor is one of those who will let people stay on this for years, too. But I'm not sure how beneficial it truly is after the first 3 to 6 months. I started in May and my total loss to date is around 35 pounds--but I lost 25 of that in the first 3 months. I think the phentermine was really making a difference then, but…

My pharmacist sister explained to me that how you react to drugs has to do with the type or number of receptors in your body. I must have a gazillion receptors--every drug I take seems to work overtime! I started taking cholesterol medicine a few years ago when my total cholesterol count was close to 300. Within a few…

My doctor also has no problem with leaving people on phentermine for years. Too bad insurance only says you can have it for three months. I sure hate having my healthcare dictated by an insurance company. But I'm like you--I'd rather go off of it when I reach a certain point in my weight loss. I already feel like I could…

I've never taken more than 37.5 mg, but I agree with you, I don't think I'd sleep at all if I took more and later in the day. I have trouble sleeping more than about 6 hours now. Have you tried upping the dose yet?

Hi, I turned 57 this summer. In May I started out at 208 lbs. I'm at about 173 now, 35 pounds down. I started in a snug size 18 and my new size 14 pants are getting pretty loose. I'd like to lose another 30 pounds to officially put my BMI in the non-overweight category, but my doctor said "30 more pounds off will make you…
-
Wow .. I just realized I made a mistake in that post . . I started at 208, not 175!
-
This is 33 pounds down -- 208 to 175.

Ketogenic is really tough for me to follow. I quit buying bread and crackers etc. over 2 years ago and it definitely helped my husband lose. So, I don't eat any bread stuff at home, but I do eat it when we are out. My husband has gained back though--it's probably all those candy bars he's gone back to eating! :-) I try to…

*sigh* I wanna be a 10. But I started in 18s and 16W in May and now my 14s are loose--even if the scale doesn't agree, there is change happening. :-) I put on a dress this morning that I don't even remember buying. It's kind of a tank top dress and when I got to work I realized that it's way too big in the neck. When I…

I've been on it since May 14. I lost almost 30 pounds in the first round, but I'm in that terrible stall right now like you were! I've barely lost anything for the last month! I'm glad to hear that you started losing easily again. I think I just need to keep on track and pay more attention to the calories and not slack on…

Me too! Unless it's pouring rain.

I'm glad your doctor didn't have an issue with calling in a new script! I don't think I was giving my new prescription a fair trial over the weekend--we were traveling and then sitting in a seminar most of the day on Saturday and Sunday, so those things probably contributed to my sleepiness and bad eating more than the new…

Third day on the Costco prescription and there's definitely a difference. My appetite is not being suppressed and I'm sleepy! I haven't been sleepy for 4 months on my cvs prescription. I'm definitely going back to cvs next month. In the meantime I'm going to have to be really vigilant to keep losing.
-
Is it just not decreasing your appetite? What seems different about it? I just took one out of the new Costco prescription this morning--too early to tell if I feel different yet, but I'm going to try to keep track.
-
Oh no! Well, at least I'm glad I only got one month's worth filled there.

I saw my doctor on Monday--I've been on phentermine for 4 months. She saw me after 1 month and now it's every 3 months. Turns out my insurance will not pay for phentermine after 3 months--they say it's a short-term treatment. My doctor on the other hand, says that she has patients who stay on it for years. She told me just…

Yay, Angie! It's great when the scale starts moving down again. I've been stuck at the same weight for over 10 days . . . or rather I've been up 2 pounds, down a pound, back and forth for that 10 days. Finally today I'm back down where I was 10 days ago and hopefully I'll see a loss in the next few days. That's usually the…

MissusMoon - I walk about 30-50 minutes on the treadmill about 6 days a week and I do an arm routine with weights. I tried only taking a half a pill yesterday and today--I DID sleep better last night, but still only about 6 hours. And I didn't notice any difference in my appetite--I probably could phase them out…

I've been on it for almost four months. I know that it's still working for me, at least most of the time. I DO think it's the reason I only sleep about 5 hours a night. It definitely suppresses my appetite--although I wonder about that aspect because I never really ate because I was "hungry" . . mostly just ate out of…
-
Wow, do you take 37.5 dosage? I think if I took them at 11am that I'd never sleep at night. As it is, I take them about 4:30am . . .yes, I wake up that early on my own. That's my biggest problem with phen, I only sleep 4-6 hours a night. Of course though, I didn't sleep a whole lot more than that before I took them.

:| Oops . . I have more. I weighed 179.5 on Sunday morning--I have not been below 180 since 2007 and then it was only for a minute. Then, this morning, I was back up to 182!! It was disappointing, but I also know that the three ice cream bars I ate on Sunday along with a too-healthy serving of potatoes were probably the…

<3 Angie, are you talking about a break from taking phentermine and starting it again in two weeks . . .or do you mean a break altogether from sticking to your food plan? If it's the first--a break from phentermine, I'd say try it if you really think it isn't helping. I've thought about taking a few days without it myself…

I used excel, but then I used the Windows snipping tool and saved it as a jpg file to post here. I really liked looking at my progress this way!
-
Isn't it great to look at a chart!? There's lots of weeks when I feel like I'm making no progress, but when it's laid out this way you can see that the weight is coming off steadily just like it's supposed to. Great job!!
-
This is the chart that I'm proudest of . . . I've never exercised in my life and now I rarely miss a day. I try to do at least 30-35 minutes on the treadmill early in the morning before I get ready for work. I like starting my day with calories earned!
-
I liked your weight chart so much that I had to make one of my own! I had not looked at it in that format before and it's very encouraging to see the steady loss. Some weeks it seems like I'm not losing at all!
