The aggressive advertising tactics are too much for me. I’m going to switch to another app

The full page ads are unbearable and them taking away the scanning option for free users is the last nail in the coffin for me. I would consider premium but it’s way too expensive. I plan to switch to another app in October once this service is no longer available to free users.

Looks like I’ll be deactivating my MFP account then

I’m considering ditching this ap altogether because of the full screen ads. Just. Stop. It. Please.

*raises hand* I've suffered from body dysmorphia and disordered eating my entire life. Right now I'm going through a particularly difficult time as I have been slowly gaining back the kgs I lost after a really successful weight loss. I know I'm not medically overweight. But I just feel bigger. It's hard because right now…

I find at times when I'm regularly going to the gym, I feel less stressed and am less likely to binge. At times when I'm not regularly going, the stress creeps back up and I start stuffing my face with everything. I don't keep anything junky in the house to prevent myself from binging on that kind of stuff, but work is…

Wow, thanks for all of the suggestions, everyone! I really like the idea about embracing the seasons - making more healthy fall-themed foods sounds really nice. I'm feeling that since I've started piling on the layers, I've been feeling much better (wow, big surprise there - but it definitely works). I wear an…

Totally agree, Machka9. I've started taking the bus straight to the gym after work (without going home first). It's a minor inconvenience to have to carry all of my stuff with me to work, but I'm so much more likely to go! And the walk home after the gym isn't too cold as I would have already burned up a sweat. Now only to…

Thanks for your response. I agree that going to the gym is better than staying in. I learned a trick to take the bus straight to the gym after work, without stopping by at my house. If I stop at home first, I'll feel tempted to stay in. The portion control thing is pretty tricky for me - this should be something that I can…

I gained 15 lbs in my first year of university, but lost it all (plus an additional 5 lbs) from working in a warehouse for my summer job. Being on my feet and pushing around a cart 8 hours a day was enough to help me lose the weight. Fast forward to my third year of university and I gained 30 lbs from taking…

Add me if you'd like. I've never been diagnosed, but always suspected EDNOS. Eitherway, I've never had a good relationship with food. I had a pretty low point back in 2014. Like others here, I'm focused on moving forward and learning how to build a healthy and happy relationship with my body and food.

Rushgirl82, as another massive Rush fan, I LOVE your hat! I agree with pickles too. If I want something salty/savoury, I also drink some instant miso soup. You can get them in the international section of the supermarket. Just add hot water and stir. An entire packet is only 25 calories and there is a bit of protein in it…

For those asking if I've been eating enough protein, I have actually been eating less protein than normal lately. I've recently gone dairy-free, and I'm finding that the dairy-free options don't have nearly as much protein as the full dairy versions. For instance, I used to have Greek yogurt for breakfast every morning.…

Thanks for your input - that makes a lot of sense. I'm 5'3 and currently 62.7 kg (~138 lbs). I figured that 1350 was a good amount for me as I didn't feel hungry on it. But if more of my calories are coming from sugar, it makes sense that I would be hungry as I am lacking nutrients (even if I'm eating over my limit).

I've always had a pouch, even at my thinnest! It's so frustrating. I lose weight everywhere BUT my stomach. I'm keen to see it go.

Thanks for your input, everyone!

I completely understand. I regularly move between NZ and Canada, both which have different sizing systems. I can barely squeeze into a size L underwear in NZ, but when I go to Old Navy in Canada, I am swimming in a size S shirt. I find Old Navy is getting worse everytime I go home. The weird thing is places like H&M, which…

Even at my lowest weight, I had flabby arms. I tend to store most of my fat in my upper arms and stomach. I'm doing more strength-training this time around, so hopefully I will see less bat wings.

Doritos. I could eat (and have eaten) an entire party-sized bag. Pasta. It doesn't matter how full I am, I will continue trying to cram more into my mouth. Chocolate chip cookies, Oreos, and these nasty things: http://www.marschocolate.com.au/products/pods/pods-with-snickers/

This sounds almost like me. Two years ago I went through the vicious cycle of bingeing and restricting. I managed to lose a lot of weight, but just looked and felt sick in the process. I suffered quite a lot mentally as well. It felt that I was trapped and that food and my perception of my body controlled my life. Since…

Hi there! Canadian-Kiwi here, living in Auckland. Congrats on being smoke-free for three months so far!

I grew up in Ontario and love this idea. If only they can start doing this in New Zealand as well (which is where I currently live). I imagine for single pre-served or pre-made items (like donuts) would be trustworthy, but I would be skeptical for anything else. Even things like french fries or coffee, where there is room…

I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder when I was 15, but there have been times since then where I felt my anxiety manefested in different ways. I have a long history of disordered eating, but kept this relatively quiet as I was always normal weight (and overweight at times) and felt that people/doctors wouldn't…

I hate eggs, too. This has long made getting enough protein difficult as I don't have the money to eat tons of meat either. With enough trial and error, I've developed my go-to breakfast of greek yogurt (200g) with blueberries (100g), pumpkin seeds (1 tablespoon), flaxseeds (2 tsps), and slivered almonds (1 tablespoon).…

Thanks for the advice. Protein fluff? What's that?

Hey everyone! Great idea for a group. I was born and raised in Canada, but have been an expat in South Korea and more recently, an immigrant to New Zealand. I moved to Korea to teach English when I was 23. There I lived for two years and met my Kiwi husband, who was also a teacher. We moved to New Zealand after Korea, and…
