I like to use tofu as a protein source for dinners at least a few times a week, and my favorite way to do it is to cook it in something saucy so it soaks up the flavors and takes on a creamy texture. Two recipes that use this: Tofu spaghetti: I use whatever veg I have to start, usually onion, mushroom, eggplant, or…

I love it, but save it for special occasions or when I'm traveling. I have IBS, so I have to be careful with things that cause bloating. There are some clinical studies about aspartame, but nothing has ever scared me badly enough to get me to stop. Also, have you tried flavored carbonated water, like la Croix? So good, no…

I've started eating more plant-based, and I feel it has improved my health. I have stomach problems, and it helps with that. The important thing is to see it as an opportunity, not a limiting factor. We tend to center our meals around meat, so when you take that out, you open up a whole new range of recipes. Also, it's…

I told myself I was gonna get better about logging, because I slacked off for the last couple of months. Today, not only did I weight just about everything I ate, but I made really healthy choices and worked out a ton, so I was able to eat a HUGE dinner and I still have calories for an evening snack! Dinner: slow cooker…

Thank you all so much for your advice! It's very encouraging. I'm definitely going to keep on running. I'm actually heading out for a run now, and after that I'm going to look into RunDouble. Having a guided program definitely helps, and I think it will keep me going when I finish C25k.

I would say try it. Eat at that level, weigh and measure carefully so you can be sure that's what you're getting, and do it for a couple of weeks. You will probably see results. I've lost weight eating over 2000 calories some days, due to exercise and activity. It really does work. Once you start honestly logging, to the…

If feeling good is what is important, do things that make you feel good. Obsessing with the scale won't do that. If you start eating better and moving more, you'll feel better. If you lose weight, cool. If you get a little more muscular, you may not weigh less, but you'll probably look leaner. We all have different ideal…

I'm gonna second the "go slow" advice. Right now you are building, and you need a solid foundation. It's hard enough without an injury and without pushing yourself to exhaustion. You don't want to hate running before you even start. I can only imagine how hard it is for you, so keep going. I've lost twenty pounds or so,…

I eat a lot of different things. I love food, all kinds. My diary is open to friends, feel free to friend me. Some days I eat "healthy" and some days I don't, and I'm just as likely to finish with a deficit either way. I do go over sometimes, but I'm in this for the long haul, and an off day is bound to happen. I always…

I drink a huge amount of fluids, and avoid dairy, as said before. One thing that always helps me is working out. It warms things up and lets things run out, which is so gross but also so good. Then, when I'm out of the shower, I just blow it all out and usually feel better for at least a little while. Running, even though…

I did week 5, day 2 today, and honestly, it was great. I've done C25k before, but stopped running for a few months and decided to pick it back up at the beginning just to prevent injury. I'm using the Zen labs app, and today was the two 8 minute runs. If you really start running, you know that there's this feeling, when…

I am reading a book about Henry Knox, one of the generals in the Revolutionary War, and Henry James' Portrait of a Lady. I'm on a bit of a history kick since I'm going back for my Master's in Historic Preservation in the fall, and I'm trying to get back in that mindset. Also, I am halfway through Metro 2033, the book the…

I also add some taco seasoning, just a tablespoon or two, for extra flavor. These make the best tacos, so easy. I like a little cheese or sour cream, but just dress it as you would a taco. Make it a Mexican lettuce wrap if you're going low carb.

I just stick mine in the over at 350 or 375 for as close to an hour as possible and eat as is. It's soooo lovely. Sweet potatoes are the nectar of the gods for me.

I drink both tea and coffee. Tea every day, coffee every few days. I find the coffee becomes a sort of treat, and even if I add milk and sugar, 100 calories or so is not bad at all for a treat. Maybe once every two weeks I'll go and get a good vanilla latte, which comes in at quite a few calories, so just avoid coffee…

I love your description of overeating as a monster. It's so true. Once you go over one day, it's so hard to shut that *kitten* up. Very inspiring story, though. Your dedication is impressive, to say the least.

Omg I love white beans! Gonna try this for sure.

When I started I was about where you are. Still have fifty or so pounds to go. I stopped paying attention to my diet for a few months and plateaued. Now I'm getting serious again. Added!

Honestly, this is so reassuring. I am just starting out at well and I Thought I was insanely weak barely being able to lift the bar over my head once or twice. I think OHP was designed by the devil to torture women. And probably men too. Lol. Thanks for the reassurance.

I am not currently doing it but I have done it. I enjoyed it a lot as well. It's a great way to bump yourself up a level in fitness. It also got me into HIIT which is good if you like quick intense workouts. Keep it up!

Soup. That is my go to when I am super hungry but don't have a lot of calories left for dinner. You can use whatever you have on hand. My mom was great at throwing together a soup. She would use leftover meatloaf to make a killer beef and vegetable soup. Basically all you need is liquid, starch, and protein. Liquid:…

I would cook them both. If it's a treat, I wouldn't worry too much. You'll eat until you're full, then stop. Steak is really not too bad, calorie-wise, considering how filling it is, and as long as you don't make a bunch of high-calorie sides and stick to a nice salad, some roasted green beans, asparagus, etc., it won't be…

I second the salsa. A nice bed of greens, a little corn and black beans, maybe some shredded chicken with taco seasoning if you're going for a full meal. Throw on sour cream, and you have the most delicious "Santa Fe" salad you've ever eaten. It is truly amazing the difference a little salsa and sour cream can make.

This is a great idea! I have Fridays off, so it's always a difficult day for me to stay motivated. Therefore, today I will: * Do my C25K for the second time this week :( Been focusing too much on weight training. * Log all my food, and stay in a deficit. * Do some yoga, at least a 15 minute video. All the weight training…

I always trust how I feel DURING the run most. If you managed it, and it didn't hurt at the time, you're likely just dealing with soreness. The only way to overcome soreness is to wait it out, drink lots of water, make sure you're getting your potassium and stretching a bit. After that, the best way is to press on. It…

Oooh, Gemzzz12, that looks good. It might be good to add some red pepper flakes or paste if you want it to be spicy, or some rice syrup or brown sugar if you want it sweet. Or both. I usually go for both. I get the Korean red pepper paste at my local asian grocery, and it goes really well in sauces, but it might not be…
