Hey that's a good thing. You can always count on this place to jump on bad info.

So they tell me.

You're not wrong, but try not to be to angry at your friend. Sometimes people think they have all the answers and they will sabotage everything for their cause only to realize that they were insane to do so. That being said, don't let her constantly bring you down. Sometimes it's better to know when to let go of a…

Y'all right. I did some backwards division.

Edit: Don't trust my math.

I disagree. You do things your way and I'll stick to my way.

I know it's hard to eat small enough portions of high calorie food so when my mom cooks I often skip a meal that day. You will have to either cook differently for yourself or eat less of what you are cooking. I don't think there's really much else that can be done.

I purposefully capitalized "EVERYTHING" so you would know that I did not miss it.

It's not uncommon for families in the south to fry EVERYTHING. I know, I live in the south. I eat with these families.

I never said they would need it. I hope they don't. I don't regret anything I've learned whether I need that information or not. I still use a check book, but I also balance my money online. I wouldn't be surprised if check books are a thing of the past when my kids are adults though.

That reminds me of Willy Wonka

I binge occasionally just to get it out of my system. sometimes I plan them and I'll cut my calories back for a week or two. Or if I didn't plan it I'll cut my calories back for a week or two after the binge. I feel no shame when I binge. And normally when I binge I try to eat a balanced diet while I do. Maybe some sweets,…

I thought it was extremely kind. If I was trying to lose that much weight at that rate, I hope somebody would care more about my well-being than my feelings.

I wasn't implying that calorie counting is the only way. When I said most people I was talking about people who get on fad diets and never actually make any lifestyle changes. As I've kept saying on this thread, I'm aware calorie counting isn't the only way to do it. I agree that teaching about nutrition, portion sizes,…

I gave up cold cereals and switched to oatmeal. It's way more filling.

I'm having a hard time understanding your post because of how it's worded, but to be clear I never said it's the only way. Not just in this thread. I've actually never said that at all because it's not true.

Eat more food than it takes to maintain your current weight.

I don't think people travel to pay more for water.

When people ask me how I lost weight, I tell them by counting calories. Most people think it's a trick or a fad. So, I disagree that people will just count calories if the need too. I really don't care what most people do. If i used the methods that most people use I'd lose some weight and then gain more back for the rest…

Thanks that sounds like a good idea.

I'm less than 10 pounds from my goal weight. I had been think I would just keep losing until I get to the bf% I want but the more I think about it recomp seems like a better idea to me. My scale says I'm at 20% bf but I'm sure it's wrong. I'm guessing it's much higher than that. I'd like to focus more on being fit and…

I'm sure a lot of it depends on location. It just goes to show that there can be language barriers within the same language. Where I'm from you never really stop being your parents' kid. The purpose is to supply them with a tool that might help them later. I'm not saying make them do it all the time, but I see no harm in…

I think teaching a 7 year how to count calories is a terrible idea too. Most 7 year olds have just started learning about 3 digit addition (some haven't even gotten that far with math). Nobody is saying 7 year olds should be counting calories. I thought that was pretty obvious. I probably won't teach my kids how to count…

Counting calories is a tool. It's wonderful if you don't need it, but useful if you do. I don't think anyone here is saying that Counting calories is necessary for everyone. It has helped me. If there is even the smallest chance that my kids will need it, I want them to have it.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I'm not wrong about the rise in obesity regardless if I'm right about whether kids should be taught CICO. I was kind of half joking when I made my prediction. I think it's great that you plan on teaching your kids how to be active and eat a well balanced diet. I will do the same with mine and I will…

I would play Minecraft for 30 hours if I could get away with it. Luckily for me my wife cares about me to much to let me haha.
-
Judging by the number of people on here who are against teaching their kids about CICO. I'm going to go ahead and predict a rise in obesity.

Order the pizza and send it to my house. No but really good job. Pizza and I have a love hate relationship.

Oh yeah I saw someone above mention fruit. I eat a lot of fruit too when I want something sweet. Lots of watermelon and berries. Another thing I like to do is drink a glass of water right before eating something sweet and right after. It makes a half cup of ice cream seem feel like a half gallon.

I try to keep my cravings back with things that are kind of sweet and filling. I have Oatmeal every morning almost with peanut butter or a banana. The peanut butter is very sweet imo so it satisfies that sweet tooth. I also like to have a protein bar instead of a candy bar because they seem to keep me more full. I guess…
