I just posted another thread about this webinar. Sorry about the duplication! The email I got from Chris Kelly emphasized the athletic performance part of the discussion.

I wonder if a whole cauliflower would do well in a crockpot. I may have to experiment. . .

Nice to "meet" you, @memelizzy! I'm in a similar situation, returning after a break. Too much family drama/stress, and lack of access to a kitchen for the last couple months has added 6 pounds back to my weight and sent my blood sugar numbers skyrocketing. But things have calmed down and I have my kitchen back.…

@Sunny_Bunny_ In case you haven't registered yet, Amy Berger is one of the speakers. I know you appreciate her as much as I do!

Thanks for this, @cstehansen. It couldn't have come at a better time for me.

I suggest the next time a server makes a comment on your request (other than "of course, no problem!") that you simply raise one eyebrow and stare at them. If they get the hint, great. If not, reflect your displeasure in the tip. >:)

Late to the party here. . . I just watched day 2, and chuckled at the "Pee Test" results. He used four different brands of ketone strips, and got widely varied results. Hopefully that will deter his viewers from relying on results of the home urine test. It's just too bad the blood ketone strips are so expensive!

Where do you get these? I'm currently without access to a kitchen or refrigerator, so cooking my own meals is out. Low-carb meal replacement bars would be helpful.
-
I made some with an Indian twist. Add a sliced onion, some sliced mushrooms, coconut milk and curry powder.

I think it depends on what is in your pork sausage. If it has a lot of unpronounceable ingredients, I'd steer clear. If it's made from just pork and seasonings, you're probably okay.

I had to switch from Metformin to Glipizide for the same reason you did - my stomach couldn't tolerate it. After a couple weeks of LCHF I stopped taking the Glipizide, and my A1C still fell. Definitely talk to your doctor about reducing or eliminating the medication.

If you don't use a blender, the butter and coconut oil tend to make an oil slick on top of your coffee. Blending incorporates it throughout the coffee and makes it nice and frothy.

I use it when making pulled pork, chicken, or beef brisket. I cook the meat all day in the crockpot with a tablespoon of liquid smoke in with the water/stock.

Welcome to the group! We're all here to support each other and share ideas. If you haven't already, take some time to read through the Launch Pad. There's a lot of great info in there.

Can you talk to your health care provider about switching medications? Not all antidepressants cause weight gain, and maybe you can find a different one that works for you. I take Wellbutrin, and it has an appetite suppressant effect for me.

I was thinking about this, too. Why do we even care what our outer appearance is? Why don't we just focus on being as healthy as possible instead? Why do we care what anyone else's outer appearance is? Why can't we just seek to see people for who they are? I admit that I fall far short of this myself. In my mind's eye I'm…

@ABeautifulDistraction can you post it in the LCD Recipes Group forum? http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/112055-the-low-carb-high-fat-recipes-group-lchf

Let's all have a Freakin' Fabulous February!!

Ditto on the kale chips. I also love kale raw in salads, or sauteed in olive oil with garlic and ginger. I throw handfuls of chopped kale in soups. Saute a handful of chopped kale in butter, then scramble in a couple of eggs and top with feta cheese.

I'm jealous! I wish someone would open a low-carb restaurant in the DC metro area. :(

I've used their stocks before to make soups, and was happy with the results. I'll have to look for the bone broth next time.

Only from my vegan son and daughter-in-law. They are appalled that I eat meat, eggs, fish and dairy, and insist I'm getting way too much protein (even though I struggle to meet my protein macro most days). I could fuss at them for all the rice, beans, pea protein and vital wheat gluten they consume, but it wouldn't do any…

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've had a miscarriage and a stillborn, so I can understand the emotional pain you are going through. Be gentle with yourself and focus on healing first, emotionally and physically. The rest can wait. Feed your body good, healthy foods, and maybe the urge to binge on the unhealthy stuff will…

I can't add anything to the great suggestions already given, but wanted to say "welcome" to the group, and to the keto lifestyle!

Keto-ade: 1/4 tsp. salt (sodium chloride) 1/4 tsp. "lite" salt (potassium chloride) 1 Tbsp. lime juice 4 drops liquid stevia 16 - 20 oz. water Some people prefer Mio instead of the lime juice and stevia. I hope you get the electrolytes worked out soon!

I asked this very question to the nutritionist I saw. She said, "Cardio helps you lose weight and look better. Weight training helps you look better naked."
