When you are preparing meals for others, it is hard to just watch them eat. I do try to keep my meals smaller and try to make a conscious effort not to overeat.

Also wake up at 2 or 3 am each evening, no matter what time I actually go to bed. Sometimes I can get back to sleep, other times I just watch tv

Thanks, Ecosse2018 for the IF suggestion!

@brenn24179: Congratulations at reaching your goal! I think a good rule would be to watch portion sizes and do weekly weigh-ins. Weekly weigh-ins will allow you to see how well you are able to handle different foods and make adjustments accordingly. I am struggling (since January!) with my last 5 pounds. Any suggestions…

I would suggest giving it a little more time to see if your body adjusts. If not, add back minimum amounts of carbs until you reach your sweet spot.

A plain yogurt sweetened with stevia or a few low-carb berries might work. You might look into a lower carb bread/butter. A lower carb cereal with added seeds/nuts. It really depends upon your carb limit. You can always choose to have most of your carb count at breakfast and keep the rest of the day relatively carb-free.

Thanks, kpk54, I would have to drink it in lieu of my morning coffee. Too much caffeine makes me dizzy.
-
@Longshore: I wonder how much caffeine as compare with 8 ounces of coffee.
-
@brenn24179 Did you count calories as well or only carbs?
-
Someone just recommended Zip Fizz energy drink to me. Has anyone tried it?

Thanks for sharing your story. I am sure it will be an inspiration to others. I am close to goal but check in almost every day to keep on track.

Ditto all of the above. I used to get severe cramps at night in bed: toes, calves, arches, and even ankles!!! I religiously take magnesium supplements in the evening; drink broth in the afternoons, wear socks to bed, try to walk uphill at least 3x/week and keep a heating pad under the bed for emergency relief. I also find…

Thanks for the above link. It was a good Monday morning read as well.

I have to agree with you, I have always run on the cold side and doing low carb has pushed me into an even colder area. For my part, I blame some of it on being a senior citizen.

Bump We are all individuals and need to stick with whatever works for us. I float between keto and carnivore on any given week.

Nuts and cheese can sometimes be a problem for me, but mostly it's not so much the food as my "mood." I need to straighten my attitude out first and foremost.

Thanks, Goat, for reposting above. A good way to start 2019.

@nvmomketo: Your above post really spoke to me! I am +/- 7lbs away from goal and really struggling. Did much better when I was heavier. I think we are in the same slow boat! Your comment about your body adjusting and things slowing down is exactly what I am going through! Will try to somehow shake it back awake!

I am not strictly carnivore but my plant intake is down drastically. I am better able to maintain my weight eating mainly meats, fish, cheese, nuts, nut butters and a smidge of half & half in my morning coffee. I have a very small piece of dark chocolate now and again as a treat. Do not miss the fiber whatsoever. :)

Occasionally I'll use "Nature's Own" Sugar Free 100% whole wheat/grain bread. 50 Calories/slice, 9 gr. carb per slice. I've never used more than 1 slice/day.

Thanks, PamamaJane for the above reference. I had never seen it before and think it's an awesome quote. It should be mandatory reading before changing ones WOE.

Glad you found your way back.

Check your local supermarket and see when they reduce items for fast sale in the meat dept. I get very good buys and cook/prep them immediately the same day it is bought. I haven't noticed any increase in food budget purchasing this way. Also I tend to eat out less which saves quite a bit.

Ditto above. It can get very frustrating at times, we all can attest to that. Just stay the course and don't give up.

Love, marriage and butte?? Should have started at the bottom with money. Story of my life.

Adding more salt to my diet also helped me. I also use butter every day, even if I have to put it on a few small crackers. It really helped as well.

Interesting. Too far for me to attend. Hopefully, we can get some of it on the web.

I am not a runner so this may be totally out of line, but have you tried something like a Quest protein bar?
-
Wow, it surely took them long enough!

Thanks!
