  • Feel free to add me as a friend if you want. I'm a 41 year old father of 2 with similar motivations. I've been using mfp for 6+ months, 39lbs lost so far, another 40 or 45 to go. I started running recently. My diet is still terrible (open diary for friends), but I'm miles ahead of where I was when I started. The only…
  • W5D2 in the books W5D2 calls for: walk 5 / run 8 / walk 5 / run 8 / walk 5 But I did: walk 7 / run 11.5 / walk 3.5 / run 13.5 / walk 4.5+ Bring on W5D3 B)
  • Friend request sent. Depression puts a significant hurdle in the way, and it can be very different from one person to the next. The only recommendation I'll make regarding depression, is seek professional help if needed. On the physical side of heslth, I've had the most success by creating habits. If I wait until I "want…
  • Create a meal and break up the portions until you get a ratio that works. Using stew as an example, create a new recipe and enter 10 for the portions, then log all ingredients in the recipe. You can log 6 portions and she can log 4, or whatever ratio works for you. Works well for leftovers too.

  • Week 4 complete B)
  • You are correct. I picked up a base layer. They are warm underneath, but wind blows right through without an outer layer. Lesson learned. I've ordered a windproof layer to hold me off until I can get to a running store. Having to rely on Amazon is a little frustrating!
  • Feel free to add me if you want friends. My name is John. I'm 41, busy life, 39lbs lost so far, 40-50 to go depending on how I feel when I get there. Believe in yourself. Not all days are easy - just keep moving forward. You can do this!!!
  • Everyone I know who has used weight watchers, or similar "we do all the thinking for you" plans, gain it all back, and more. My fitness pal asks us to: Log calories ourselves Plan our diet ourselves Implement exercise ourselves Discipline ourselves * So we empower ourselves * Giving control to someone else from the start,…
  • Week 4, day 1 in the books, despite the first hint of winter, flurries, -3 (-9 with wind chill). My legs were cool despite the tights, so they will not cut it once we get into proper winter - I'll probably run through -20 and colder many times. I believe they will be warm enough, without wind. So obviously I will need to…

No fancy diets. I started c25k running, and I watch my calories. I've had some…

  • I 2nd fitnessblender!!! They are free on YouTube. They have tons of videos from beginner to hiit, and family friendly too. They have one with a couple kids in it - my 3 year old loves it. The other videos I've seen are proper workouts. Definitely check out fitnessblender!
  • I'm grateful for my friends on mfp, especially the runners. I've started c25k and I'm trusting it, partly because I have real life examples in my feed every day. - I ran for 5 minutes this morning, without stopping. I'm not sure I have ever done that before. - I've beat the plateau. I've lost all the 7lbs I put back on,…
  • Week 3 day 3 this morning, and something funny happened. When I got to the cool down, I ran instead B) I'm not sure that I have ever run for 5 minutes without stopping. Thank you to everyone who has done this before me. I keep trusting the program, and I keep surprising myself.

  • Why start over if you don't finish week 4? Just repeat the week, repeat individual days, whatever it takes.
  • Short answer, change something. I plateaued for a couple months and gained back 7. So I refocused my involvement, diary, and exercise. - I got more involved in the forum and added some friends for daily accountability / similar interests - I got more honest with my diary (not logging something because I went for a longer…
  • My uncle died at 50 years old, after losing a ton of weight - I was young so I don't know specifics. Basically his heart didn't have the time to adjust to his new body size ... They call rapid weight loss unhealthy, because it is unhealthy.
  • I'd love to have more runner friends! I have some awesome friends already, but the more the merrier, especially people who run. I'm a new runner - week two, day one of c25k this morning, but I'm loving it so far!!! Walking had been the primary exercise for the first 34lbs lost. I still have about 50 or so to go.
  • Join in anyway. Modify the goal if you want. Progress is progress! Lots of people in here to cheer you on. There will likely be a December challenge also. This will get you warmed up for that.
  • Week two, day one complete. I feel better than I did last week! I had to push through the 4th run, but by the time the warmup came, I wanted to run more :)

  • Sunday is my weight in day. Looks like I'm successfully back on track :) Hopefully the weight loss slows a bit though. I'm hoping this is coming off fast because I had gained back 7lbs over a month. I'll have to adjust my calories a little more if I lose over 2lbs again this week. Oct 23: 249.2 Oct 30: 244.8 Nov 6: 242.2
  • Week 1 day 3 is the same as the first 2 days. The starting and stopping might drive your dog nuts. You know your dog better than I do obviously. Mine gets so excited running that he'll zig zag.
  • Week 1 complete. This morning my breathing was better, I wasn't stiff afterwards, and my speed is up slightly :) I'm looking forward to Monday to start week 2!
  • Don't be too hard on yourself. It's the first day you switched to distance rather than time. Like anything else in life, if it were easy, it might be taken for granted.
