  • I have just gone vegan too! I will add you!
  • amara29, I have been there so many times! It's frustrating. Maybe look through the posts of people who are doing it with lots of success to get you motivated. If they can do it, so can you. Also, just take it one meal at a time, one decision at a time. Next meal or snack, make a good choice and start there. The fact that…
  • Ugh! The last few are so hard! I have about 15 to go and been stuck at the same weight since the beginning of the year! I would much rather be stuck here then at the beginning though!
  • Holy cow, I just glanced at the name of this thread "Women in their 40's" and thought it sounded like old people, till it hit me a second later, THAT'S ME!!! I was in my 20's the other day and now I'm in my 40's!! Ugh!! Anywho, I'm 41 and have about 15 lbs to lose. I've been up and down most of my life, but it seems I've…
  • I think you should do what's best for you. Maybe experiment taking things out and see how it makes you feel. Personally, for me, when I eat sugar, I want more (it's like a drug for me) and then I end up eating like crap all the time. When I eat gluten/bread/pastries, I can't stop eating them and end up feeling way over…
  • Are you eating enough at meals? I find if I eat enough healthy protein and fat in my meal, it will fill me up to the next meal.
  • I apologize. I did not mean to offend anyone, that was not my intention. I obviously took people saying they reversed their disease or were not struggling with autoimmune diseases as they got rid of them. But I do know many people have been able to live much more comfortably, possibly symptom free, by doing certain things…
  • @AliceDark, perhaps you are right. I have been in different diet groups and different health threads for years and have seen that people have gotten rid of their autoimmune diseases by eating healthy, gut wise. Pharma is big and would rather you took prescription drugs than got yourself healthy.
  • @janejellyroll, Told me what? About processed foods, sugar, dairy and gluten? A lot of people. Taking sugar and processed food out of your diet is just an obvious first step. I eliminated dairy and it has cleared up my skin issues as well as other people who have told me the same. A lot of people have issues with gluten.…
  • Try cutting down on the carbs, you can up your fat intake which will make you more full. Cut the sugar, processed foods and gluten. You won't be so hungry in between meals.
  • Yes, I have struggled with binge eating for 20+years. I find that when I stick to a healthy lifestyle I don't binge. Even if I feel like binging, I don't feel bad about what I eat if I stick to my diet. I have to start in the right mindset, which it seems like you do. The good thing is if we understand that's what we are…
  • I've never done a plank challenge, but I'm in!! 60 minutes!! Let's do this!
  • Great job! You will get off the meds if you continue the way you are going. Walking is the best exercise you can do, and eating right is the best thing to do for your body!!
  • Lift weights. Having more muscle burns more calories and fat!
  • I quit gluten because I can't stop eating it when I start!! Haha! Our gut is basically the center of health for us. It basically has to do with everything, the way we feel, the way we perform, if we get sick, even autoimmune diseases can be cured by keeping our gut healthy. The main things that I have been told to take out…
  • PaleOMG.com is a great site for paleo recipes. All of her dishes that I have tried are delish! And I never feel guilty eating paleo. Not sure what your healthy is, but you can't go wrong eating paleo. I eat a lot of cauliflower rice seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Sometimes I will add mushrooms…
  • If she's a member of the site and also sees him using the site constantly while he's logging his food, it's actually very likely that she will read this thread. [/quote] If she is even on MFP. I wouldn't care that my husband was logging food on a site or an app. It took me years to even start using my Instagram account…
  • He's asking for help, not for you to knock him for asking for it. The chances of her seeing this aren't that likely. People use these forums to get help all the time. If you are here to make someone feel bad about it, then you are here for the wrong reasons. He loves her enough to ask for help. There may be information in…
  • I agree with everyone else! Genetics plays a big part in our shape. My belly got bigger after I had a kid, it wasn't the extra bread. Calorie deficits are the only thing that work for me, but only if I am eating good outside of that. I also try to eat the majority of my calories at lunch or before. If I skip out on dinner…
  • Ok, I know that many people will disagree with me, but I think skipping dinner is pretty much the only way I have ever lost weight. I may have a snack or a glass of wine, but eating lunch as my large meal, maybe a few eggs for breakfast and a snack mid morning and mid afternoon seems to do the trick. But I also eat paleo.…
  • Ugh, this is so tough! I feel for you both. I agree with everyone that she sounds depressed. I agree with you that you need to express your feelings to her, but ALWAYS in a loving way. We women are emotional and when it comes to our weigh, it's very touchy. But you obviously love her and care about her well being. As with…
  • I'm sorry you are going through this. I have struggled with overeating my whole life. For a few years in my early 20s I was deep into anorexia and bulimia. I went to a treatment place and OA meetings for a long time. I guess it all helped. Like me, you probably know everything there is to know about healthy eating, healthy…
  • I feel your pain! I do so well during the week, feel hungry every day, eat clean, work out and lose a few lbs during the week. And then EVERY weekend I put it ALL back on by eating popcorn, pizza, a sandwich, dinner or something. It's not that I have eaten an extra ton of food or gone way off base, but it happens EVERY…
  • I would guess 85% - 90% of our weight loss is from what we eat and maybe 10% - 15% is exercise. We can definitely tone and shape our body with exercise, but diet is always the most important for the scale victories. It sounds like you are really close to your goal weight. Do what you can to physically strengthen your body…
  • I was just on another post and someone mentioned grocery service/delivery something or other. If your grocery store has a pick up, or even amazon food delivery would work to save time on grocery shopping. I would love to do that myself!
  • Haha!! You go girl! That's awesome!!
  • I love this idea!! I do really good with my food service, but the second I walk into a grocery store, there is 2-3 times the amount of food I came in to buy!
  • Wow, 87 lbs in a year is a HUGE accomplishment!! I don't like to prep, it's too much work for me. I try to eat as many 1 ingredient foods as I can. So for lunch I will have a piece of chicken and some steamed or grilled veggies. I also eat a lot of omelets, even for lunch. It takes me 10 minutes to prep in the morning for…
  • I have to find new motivation all the time. Sometimes when I see an old picture of myself where I am at my goal weight. Or sometimes going on Pinterest and finding motivational pictures, exercise routines or inspirational messages. I have to keep looking for healthy (or Paleo, in my case) recipes that look like ones that…
