  • Yeah...I'd already planned breaks for Thanksgiving and Christmas lol! My family cooks too many special and amazing things for those holidays. Not going to be passing up almond cookies and homemade noodles. Carbs be damned.
  • I can't believe no one had brought up "muscle weighs more than fat"
  • Yeah. Try calling your doctor's nurse back to cancel the appointment you made and telling her "um, I remembered I ate beets for 3 meals running..." Meanwhile the nurse is quite obviously trying not to laugh out loud...
  • When you set your activity level, it should not include purposeful exercise. So if you work a desk job, but hit the gym for an hour 6 days a week, you'd still put sedentary/not very active and then log the gym time for extra calories.
  • Thank you all for your thoughts and comments. The links were perfect! Now to reconcile those with the myth of starvation mode in my brain lol! But they make total sense. And the body fat chart...well, every calculator out there has me over the 32% threshold for a 12-16 week break time frame so there is that as well. But…
  • The thing I was looking for was a definition of "prolonged period." 3 months? A year? This whole individual, do what feels right, find your own way thing frustrates me at times lol!
  • My deficit is 1000...and a dozen sounds like heaven lol! But I figure 9 and a big ol glass of milk will fit the bill for around 800 calories. Yep. It's going down Friday (shopping day) Poor hubby will have to take the excess to work Saturday lol!
  • @GottaBurnEmAll I'd planned a Thanksgiving to Christmas maintenance break. Maybe @Little_Miss_Kriss is right and a proper "cheat" night is all I need. The pending binge is freaking Chips Ahoy of all things. Smh at my own self here.
  • Oh I plan to log if I do this 100%. If I quit that, I'll be back to a six pack of pop and honeybuns for breakfast in no time lol!
  • For real! Even set to active on MFP my fit bit gives me some incredible exercise calories. With just under 14k steps today, fitbit currently is giving me 700+ exercise calories. Dafaq? It'll take some away by bedtime as I'm fully in slug mode now. But for real? I feel like I need my head examined trying to wrap my mind…
  • I've changed positions now, but when I worked in a kitchen, I wasn't allowed to graze. Grounds for dismissal...it was considered theft. And in my state it is a health code violation. I still only eat or drink on my breaks. Now cooking at home, that's another story...tastes, licks, nibbles, yep.
  • 9 weeks pp! And the energy to work on weight! Go you! That's awesome. And I'd bet dollars to donuts that gain is residual from your cycle. Keep on...what you're doing is working!
  • Lol my analogy is 180* opposite hers. I always wanted kids. Life didn't work that way. And now, at 41 I get all sorts of anxiety at 1 day late on the period. Kids *now* would so jack up my life. 20 year old me envisioned a far different life than I ended up with. I'm glad 20 yr old me was so so wrong about what makes me…
  • A) Eat to your goal...provided you are weighing your solid foods vs eyeballing. 8lbs in 20 days is almost 2lbs per week...that's a LOT in the world of weight loss. B ) 20 days in...where are you in your cycle? Ovulation week and shark week are very common water weight increase weeks. Your reproductive organs need the extra…
  • I think for your first month, you're doing fine. I started heavier and taller and lost 12.6 in my first month. A good bit of that was the initial water weight loss that came from reducing my carbs from probably 500gr a day to around 200. I've leveled off now to right at 2lbs/week the past 6 weeks. As little bit weans or…
  • @Pawsforme I think the are talking about the adjustment fitbit sends mfp. According to fitbit my tdee is 2645 (assuming this is an average as its my calories burnt goal number). For mfp on lightly active my neat is 2285. I can get adjustments of anywhere between 300 and 1100 based on how active I am. Average is around…
  • I'm somewhat in the same boat OP. I sincerely miss eating a sleeve of chips ahoy and a giant glass of milk...every night. Sometimes thinking of never doing that again makes me sad, angry and resentful. Walking by the damn things at work 8x a day pisses me off...a lot. For *me, I've not settled on a final goal weight at…
  • And that would drive me BATTY! I'd never feel full. But, I'm super glad that you and OP are finding methods that work for you. And even happier that meal timing plays no part in weightloss lol!
  • I had nearly 100 calories of veg (onions, peppers and mushrooms) at dinner last night. I'd log 100 calories of yogurt so I log veg. I am lax with amounts of salad greens and such, but usually over estimate. I even log 3 baby dill pickles...but that's more to keep any eye on sodium.
  • I struggle some with this as well. Not only am I heavier, but he's a shortie. He still, at 40-something, wants nookie daily and near begs to see me nekkid. I think he's nuts, but obviously he loves me as I am.
  • Part of my issue is the tracker's energy out seems inflated? It's not yet 5pm and I'm already over 2500 burned for the day. 14k steps. And I do get hungry for meals. And of course I could eat more...I was GOOD at that lol! But I'm not walking around hungry all day in the least.
  • That's part of my fear. But then I fear stalling out too. I wish I fully trusted the Fitbit or even could accurately gauge where on mfp's activity scale I fell. Heck, even the 50 hundred tdee calculators confuse me. I do think I'm over thinking all of it and possibly have too much data lol!
  • I'm set to a 750 deficit with about 40lbs to go to my first goal. 60-65 for a BMI ideal weight. I'm losing at a rate of about 1000/day deficit but I've yet to get my fitbit added calories figured out. So I tend to eat within 100 or so calories of my base.
  • Lmao @Aaron_K123 I'm usually the snickering 12 yr old and totally didn't catch my own peen joke! I guess I was to kerfuffled over that insane calcium % to think clearly lol! At any rate, I do think I'll just start using boneless entries and weighing off the bone inedible parts after. So bizarre that anyone, anywhere…
  • The hair, sadly, is permanent. Once the follicle changes its forever. Belly fat, even for many non-PCOS women is the last to go. I lost first in my butt. Which was kind of sad in that it was the least of my worries lol! I am not watching carbs so much as I'm striving for a good amount of protein. The carbs have lowered…
  • I'd just eyeball the amount left. Maybe if you think you ate 2/3, log it as 1/4 less than the original.
  • And thus begins another yo-yo dieters life... For real. You're either trolling or think every person responding is stupid. Enjoy your Hades, treat binges at goal weight, Hades, binges, Hades cycle for the rest of your life. Martyr it up at family gatherings. It'll be great.
  • I'm a 40+ yr old female weighing 214 and I eat near 1600 per day. If he's set to sedentary (not very active) is that true for his activity? 1700 seems shockingly low for someone his current size. Beyond the nutritional effects of 1400 calories on a man, the mental effects are risky. Sure, right now when everything is new…
  • Yep. What others have said. I work treats into my day. I have ice cream, chocolate or some other sweet thing near daily. If I'm low on calories left, the Blue Bunny fudge pops are great for 80 calories. For fullness, I've worked with my natural tendencies. I'm good with light breakfasts (most days a Quest bar because it's…
  • I started this journey at 248lbs. I've literally cut nothing out of my life. Nothing. I've severely cut down on soda. I've cut my portion sizes down. I've reduced frequency of things like snack cakes and take out meals. I've increased frequency of salads and veggies, fresh fruits and yogurt. I have birthday cake, chips,…
