Eating red meat, with its high fat content, is very satisfying and may keep you full longer than a low-fat sknless chicken breast. At least that's my experience. More calories, sure, but full for much longer and end up eating less.

Oddly enough, this week I realized I had dropped a ton of weght, seemingly overnight, and the girls are looking quite a bit smaller; my bras fit again! Yay. I was beginning to think I would look like a moo cow forever.

I'm much more of a meat eater than I used to be. Locally we can get grass-fed, antibiotic and hormone-free beef, bison, pork and even water buffalo, so we do eat red meat once a week or so. Our local grovery store also sells antibiotic and hormone-free bacon, which is nice.

Bread is the big one for me. I used to make really nice bread, including sourdough. I rarely think about it now.

Me, too. Along with my butter lunches.
-
Hmm. I like this idea. Fat deep-fried in fat.

When lunch consists of a tablespon of butter because your bacon and egg breakfast was so satisfying.

Thanks for the good wishes. Unfortunately, my feet are like ice all the time now, which is worrying, and I had some twinges in my hands this afternoon. I've been keeping my feet busy to try to improve circulation. I guess the medication triggered a vascular issue. I should have known when the cramps didn't stop, because of…

You can do this. Sometimes you might have to do it one minute at a time, but the cravings pass and get less and less as the days and weeks go by, and before you know it you've been a non-smoker for twenty years and your lungs are awesome!

SO: My naturopath believes I have had a severe reaction to the T3 medication itself OR the fillers used in the compounding process. Stopping the medication has stopped the feeling of slow suffocation I was experiencing. At one point last week this symptom was so severe and terrifying I almost went to the hospital. Stopping…

I just can't get used to the taste of Stevia, even the Sweetleaf, even the liquid version. I went back to Splenda. I use 4 packets a day; two in my tea, and two in my coffee. My mornngs are bad enough without having to pretend I enjoy the vileness that is stevia.

Increases in thyroid meds can often cause distressing symptoms for days or even weeks -- especially if you're taking a t3 medication, which you are. Your doses are pretty small, though; how long have you been taking thyroid meds? The start-up period can be rocky. Just FYI -- I get hyperthyroid symptoms all the time, even…

A dose increase will often give you unpleasant side effects for a few days or even weeks. When I first started on the dessicated thyroid, I experienced heart pounding at night, and this continued for a year. I also felt unusually hot (unusual because I'm one of those people who always feels cold). What I do know is that…

I tried almond milk and coconut coffee creamer and hated them both in coffee. I'm also pretty suspicious of soy. However, I'm okay with the almond milk in tea, so that might be the way to go. I suppose I could try having my coffee black with sweetener and see how that goes.

My very new allopathic doctor is an interesting find, though. He says that medical schools don't teach much about thyroid disease, and that as a consequence many if not most doctors think that Synthroid is the gold standard for care -- and he says this while he is writing out my prescription for dessicated thyroid. He also…

Hmm. I could see giving up cheese and yogurt, I guess, but coffee without cream? I suppose being able to breathe at night would make it worthwhile.

I was going to ask about this. I've had a chronic sinus congestion for about 25 years. Doctors just shrug and offer me a cortisone nasal spray. How soon did your sinuses clear after stoping dairy intake?
-
A true scandal. How many people have had compromised health -- or died -- because of this?
-
Or try using brown or red rice. They always seemed to fill me up better.

I have heard widely divergent opininions of calcium supplementation over the past few years. Until four years ago I used to take calcium as a matter of course because my doctor at the time told me I should. But this was the same doctor who prescribed quinine sulphate for foot cramps instead of reviewing my medications to…

Thanks for all your comments, KnitOrMiss. I do trust my naturopath. She's helped me when no doctor had a clue. The urinalysis was very revealing. My cortisol level is way below the low end of the range, almost non-existent. I'll be interested to see what my GP has to say; he and I had a conversation about adrenal fatigue…

So, I had an appointment today with my naturopath to discuss the results of my 24-hour urine test. It appears I have disastrously low cortisol (virtually non-existent), estrogen and androgens, and my T3 is still in the basement. I've been given a long list of new supplements and prescription to add, but I have to start…

I read this and other articles about the sugar scandal in The Guardian. Honestly, misbehaviour like this among medical researchers-- falsifying research data for money -- should be a criminal offense.

Going out in the boat is...painful.

I managed to quit and not GAIN weight years ago by using nicotine gum. I found it very helpful for quelling the munchies associated with nicotine withdrawal. Eventually I was able to just taper off it.
-
Yeah, that too.

No kids, either, but mine are way too big. I would LOVE to be able to afford reduction surgery. I say to all of you -- embrace the smaller chest. Clothes always look better on a woman with a small bust.
-
Thaanks. I hesitate to approach my GP about this. It's kind of embarassing. But truly, really the reason I want to lose weight is my bust. The rest of me I accept just fine - small hips, small waist. It's the huge heavy droopers that bother me, and they aren't going away unless I stop taking progesterone, but then I would…

Can anyone tell me what size you have to be in order to get a reduction here in British Columbia? I am 5'6" and about 135, which is pretty big for me, but my chest is now 36DD, getting close to 36E, and I'm very uncomfortable with my size, which increased a lot when I went on HRT. The rest of me more or less stayed the…
