  • A fellow tubie! Yay! LOL I had gotten down to 69 pounds at the beginning of August, now I'm up to 73.... goal is 95 by Christmas at the latest. Cardiologist doesn't want me over that, because I'm already in heart failure and too much weight would strain my heart...I've never been over 95 anyway (that was when I was in high…
  • I had set my goal to 2000 with "active" daily activity. A little while ago, I noticed it said 1960... I wonder if the program went to a default automatically? I changed it back to 2000. And the other day changed it to 2500, since I've had a change in health, and need to push myself for more. Also, I noticed that my sodium…
  • Whole milk = 150 calories Chocolate milk = 200+ depending on brand Minute Maid Mixed Berry 100% juice = 150 Most other fruit juices are about 100-120 (be sure to get 100% juice, not "cocktail"...that's just flavored sugar water) Sprite = 120 Some root beers are up to 160 (if I remember right, Shasta is 140) Carnation…
  • Ah, the joys of braces... I think I went through more Tylenol in those 2 years, than I have in the 20 years since! As others say, soft foods. I actually liked some baby foods, mostly the fruits and dessert kinds. You can also put regular foods in a blender, with a bit of milk or water to thin it to your liking. Good…
  • Thyroid got checked every 6 months while I was taking Amiodarone... great for heart, but very bad for thyroid, lungs, liver, eyes, etc. It did start tanking my thyroid, so they took me off it and put me on Metoprolol...not quite as good for my arrythmias, but doesn't wreck everything else. SO! I got a feeding tube put in…
  • You really should only weigh yourself once a day, at most. Once or twice a week is even better. All weighs should be done the same. The best is in the morning, after using the toilet but before eating, and with as little clothing as possible.
  • Actually, I asked for it in January. I got told to just try to eat more often. Got given Reglan, which didn't help the nausea. Now that I'm 71 lbs (last Tuesday), they are more seriously taking my request.
  • I eat average 1800 daily, but goal is 2000. Like I said, my tummy gets upset if I put much more than a larger snack or small meal in. I sleep 10+ hours a night, and rather lazy during the day. My problem partly (other than microscopic stomach) is heart failure. My cardiologist says my heart uses 2 to 3 as much energy just…
  • I don't eat fast food because it has so much sodium. I have heart failure, and too much sodium makes me retain fluid in my lungs, harder to breathe and my oxygen levels go too low. So my version of "junk food" is sweets and fatty stuff like cheesecake :)
  • No, of course not... it never occurred to me to eat high calorie or fattening stuff to gain weight ;) I drink about 3 or 4 glasses of whole milk every day, I put sour cream and/or cheddar cheese on anything it can go on, cottage cheese with my fruit, hummus with my vegetables, cook with oil and butter, etc, etc, etc... and…
  • I have never been over 90 lbs. I got sick last year, got down to 75 and was stable for a while. The last couple months, I've gotten down to 70! My doctor just put in request for feeding tube at night, cuz I just can't seem to eat enough during the day. .. if I try to eat to much at one time, I get nauseated :/ Female, 38…
  • I have a Snickers just about every day. I make Carnation Breakfast powder in with 10 ounces of whole milk. That right there is 530 calories for just a simple/quick snack. Some people might consider it junk (especially the Snickers), but you also need to consider that being underweight can also be just as dangerous. There…
  • Zofran gives me feverish hot flashes, phenagren makes me a vegetable (I'm awake, but NO coordination... the nurses have to practically carry me to the bathroom, I can barely even walk!) I do eat what I'm in the mood for, but can still only eat small amounts about every other hour. I don't think I have gastroparesis...my…
  • I just learned about Scotcharoos!
  • I always read that you shouldn't do any exercising within 5 hours of going to bed. The best time is within 2-4 hours of waking up. I've been doing my walking 5 or 6 pm, and also having trouble with sleep. I gotta get more disciplined and do it before 10am (after that, it's too hot)
  • I would, but you probably wouldn't like it LOL my food diary is full of junk food. And I only exercise 15 minutes at most, a couple times a week. Definitely not something most regular dieters want to see when trying to share experiences ;)
  • Oh, I don't weight that kind of stuff. Butter, cream cheese, dressings, etc I measure by the volume like tablespoons or cups. And with stuff like rice, noodles, meat, other cooked things, I weigh/measure after it's cooked.
  • Eh... too much a love song. I like regular ones, like Car Wash, Stayin' Alive, Disco Inferno, etc. :) No mushy stuff! LOL
  • Your legs might hurt from sitting too long. Mine cramp if I sit for more than 2 hours. Get up and move... you don't need to actually go anywhere, just walk in place or even just shift your weight from one foot to the other for a couple minutes :)
  • I measure and weigh everything. It's a little hassle, but I like to know it's correct. I always end up estimating wrong. Tonight I gota piece of fudge that looked like it might be a bit too much... Put it on the scale, and it was 41 grams! A serving is 40 grams...I was amazed! And happy LOL
  • I prefer Disco. LOL
  • I'm a weirdo, I LOVE fruits and veggies, all by themselves. Favorite veggies for just mindless snacking while doing stuff like computer and TV are sugar snap peas and sliced bell pepper. But since I'm trying to gain weight, I'm really supposed to have other stuff with it, like Ranch dressing or hummus.
  • I know it's a little extra work, but what about making your own soda? Get just plain carbonated water, with no other ingredients. Put chopped up fruit in it, and let it stay in the fridge for a few hours or overnight. Watermelon and cantelope are very sweet, but they're more healthy than processed stuff :) When I want more…
  • I can barely maintain at 1600 during my lazy days. Every day activity on a regular basis and I need 1800+ I'm trying to gain weight, so my goal is 2000+ bare minimum on lazy days. Remember that "junk food" is not totally evil. It's perfectly fine to have a bowl of ice cream, or a few cookies, burger, etc to help with…
  • 7/1= 0.26 miles in 10 minutes 7/5 = 0.42 miles in 16 minutes I was supposed to walk yesterday, but had to work AND do festivities, didn't get a chance. Today I remembered to use my walker and oxygen, so that's why I lasted a little longer. But gosh, lugging those things from the porch to the street is practically a workout…

  • I have heart failure, and retain fluid easily. I have to weigh myself daily, because if I gain 2+ lbs in 2 days, I know I need to take my diuretics. I'm also trying to gain weight in general, but I only take Monday weight for that, and track progress on averages for the month. And always in the morning: after toilet,…

  • I was thinking of asking doc, and also going to the cardiac rehab office too, see what they say (in the same hospital, they'd have all my records)
  • I've never been above 90. After a rough year in 2015, I'm now down to 73, and my doctor would like me to get back to original weight. Everybody says they wish they could eat all the stuff I do (both quality (I do quite a but of junk food) and quantity), but it's actually kind of annoying. I would love to just eat fruits…
  • Already supposed to be doing yoga for my back... Really need to start actually doing it LOL The oximeter measures your heart rate (beats per minute), and how much oxygen in your blood via capillaries in your finger
