  • Hiya Trish, love your post! I absolutely agree that I need to get rid of the guilt coming from wanting to clean the plate so to speak. It's so intrinsic the need to not waste food, I have to tell myself it's okay to not eat something because it does not taste good. And yes, compensated for yesterday's high calorie intake…
  • So wonderful to hear from real people rather than hundreds to studies all of which have a different theory. I have decided to use an app called Happy Scale to track my weight on a daily basis and then post it to MFP on a weekly basis. Hopefully that will keep me motivated enough to stay on track with my weight loss journey.
  • Oh that's a good idea. Maybe I will weigh myself everyday but enter in the data to MFP only once a week!
  • Thanks everyone. Really appreciate the advice as I am a newbie to weight loss. The kitchen scale should arrive in about 3 days and hopefully I use it regularly then.
  • Hmm...that's good advice everyone. So have ordered a kitchen scale from Amazon. Will soon find out how disruptive that is and if I can make it an everyday practice. Since this is just day 2 of my first sincere attempt at dieting ...I really don't know what will work for me and what won't.
  • Thanks Heather. Buying a food scale is definitely on the agenda. I have a question for you, "Doesn't it get tedious weighing out every portion?" In some ways I am afraid, the more complicated I make things, the more difficult it will be to adhere to any kind of a diet.
  • Thanks guys. That is great advice particularly about weighing out portions, I have been estimating it and may be way off. Also I will make a serious attempt to log in the calories everyday, just going through that process may stop me from going overboard at buffets and parties.
  • And yes SJ10 am, went through the success stories. Hopefully will post mine there one day. B) And good luck with your weight loss journey.
  • Hi Seska, Thanks, yes logging in every bite that I consume is the critical first step. I really need to track how and what I am eating. Hopefully that will bring in self awareness and motivation to do better. Absolutely agree with weight loss being a marathon not a sprint. Excited to start though!
