I'm up 3.4 pounds (eek)! This is a combination of a seemingly "unearned" low weigh-in last week, and the hyper-hydration shifts that come from having a colonoscopy yesterday, plus the "compensatory eating" afterwards. Regardless, I'm up way over where I want to be and I am feeling pretty out-of-control with regards to…

My primary exercise is running. I try to run six days a week, weather permitting, and now I'm trying to run 4 miles each run. It's not a ton, but it's not trivial either. My real goal is to burn some calories and avoid injury. A secondary benefit is "fitness." I had my annual colonoscopy today, and it was somewhat…

I love when we get to use the Trager grill in the summer…nothing better than summer BBQ! We haven't done it much this year, unfortunately, just because of how busy we've been, but it's still a favorite. In terms of activity, getting in a "hike" at a local park is always nice. Hikes here in Ohio are nothing like hikes were…

I used to weigh-in on Tuesday, which was my old WW at Work meeting day. However, I found that my personal pattern of eating didn't fit that well with a Tuesday weigh-in. I generally keep more strict eating habits during the week, but allow more more loosening on the weekend, particularly with the festive meals on…

I can pretty much stick to exactly what I said last week, so I'm cutting and pasting: I have not stuck to my food/alcohol plan at all. I am not managing stress very well lately and I'm struggling to get my head back into the gain. I'm giving myself 1 point for sticking with my running, but no points for the other two…

Interesting. I would guess getting hearing aides would be similar to getting glasses for the first time. It took some getting used to, but boy was it nice to be able to see clearly! Good luck with them. The only downside is you won't be able to claim to your wife, "Sorry, I didn't hear you dear."

I'm not sure I go as fully off-the-rails as you suggest, but I certainly struggle with things that I know I could do "on-plan," but in general are better if/when I avoid them entirely. Having something sweet at night is one example…I'm better off if I just avoid them entirely, but more times than not I end up sitting on…

I'm down 2.2 pounds, which is obviously great, but it's not really because of any great focus on my part…I think it's just my usual bouncing around when I'm not sticking to my plan. As usual, I'm drinking and snacking too much at night. My latest excuse is that I have to finish all of the liquor in the house before we move…

My primary focus is calories. Past that, I like to think that I generally eat healthier options—vegetables, meats prepared simply, limited highly-processed foods, etc. I don't look at macro- or micro-nutrient content. I figure if I eat in a healthy way, all of the other details will take care of themselves. There are some…

Sure, it's a fair question. In this context, I guess motivation refers to the initial driving force that got me wanting to lose weight (looks, health, etc.). Those still exist, but to be honest, I don't actually think about those desires much lately. Instead, "wanting to lose weight" is a given core-value for me that I…

Here's my Friday update: I have not stuck to my food/alcohol plan at all. I am not managing stress very well lately and I'm struggling to get my head back into the gain. I'm giving myself 1 point for sticking with my running, but no points for the other two goals. I'm going to stay with the same three goals again this week…

I'm up 1.6 pounds. I simply haven't gotten my head into the game, and instead have been an excuse factory of reasons to "unwind" at night with alcohol and snacks. Well, they're not excuses, per se, since much of my stress and anxiety is real at this point, but nevertheless, I could be managing those issues in a more…

Diet is a context-dependent word to me. If I try to drill down a bit more into the question, I guess I'd note that I don't have a particular emotional relationship with that word—it's a neutral term to me. This is probably because I hadn't tried a lot of named "diets" before I joined WW, so I don't have a real relationship…

I don't have any limitations on activities (exercise or otherwise) based on health conditions. I do have low bone density, and had been lifting weights for a while to try to get some real "load-bearing exercise" in, but ultimately, I find that running fits into my life more effectively than lifting does, so I run.
