Biggest insight initially was that I could bring my own lunch to work rather than eating in the cafeteria. That was the first step towards properly controlling my intake.

No, I don't do that. I do, however, always have more intake on Friday night and Saturday lunch, as those are Shabbat meals for us, and we are supposed to have extra-enjoyment on that day!

I'm up 1.2 pounds this week. I'm finding it a little challenging to get back to my old eating pattern (i.e., my pattern from before my long trip overseas). Too much snacking, too much wine. Same old story I guess. I have been running regularly, though, and I'm on-track to get to my goal mileage for this year, barring any…

I like holiday foods on their intended holiday. For Thanksgiving, I'll have everything offered, and some turkey sandwiches in the days afterwards. For Jews, Hanukkah means fried foods (commemorating the oil that burned in the Temple for 8 days), so I'll have sufganiyot (jelly or otherwise filled donuts) and latkes. With…

Bleh, I'm not a fan of pumpkin spice generally, and I really don't like seeing it where it doesn't belong, like in beer!

I'm up 1.4 pounds over the past 2.5 months (before Israel to after Israel). Not bad, all things considered. Now I'm just working to get back to my old patterns of eating, and (as usual) working off the last few pounds to get back to my personal target weight. 182/134.2/146

Thanks gang! It's good to be back. Here's one gratuitous picture for you...it's the Kotel (the Western Wall of the Temple Mount; the holiest place in Judaism) on the day of the "priestly blessing." One day during the Sukkot holiday (they also do it one day during Passover), the Kohanim (the priests) give a blessing at the…

We don't have a specific plan, yet, but we'll probably take a trip or two to visit two of our kids in the US. Maybe in December? Travel is my biggest food-related challenge. I think that I've got my home-life set up to make eating healthy pretty easy, and so when I'm out of my element, it's much more difficult.

I find it hard to flip-the-switch and tighten up my eating. I think I've got much of my weight-management set in auto-pilot, so much of what I do is routine and doesn't require any thought. If I need to cut back, then I need to re-engage my brain, and that's not always easy to do! I wish I could figure out what works and…

Wow, this is like Beetlejuice! I'm still alive, just away from home and conserving my data plan. I'll have more to share when I get back shortly. Thanks for asking about me and "pinging" me! I hope you're all doing well.

My most recent change has been to restart a substitution strategy. In the evening, after dinner, I got into a habit of snacking mindlessly while sitting on the couch watching TV. I'm certainly not hungry at those times, and I recognized that it's simply a habit. So, I've started substituting a flavored diet soda (e.g.,…

I'm exactly the same weight as last Friday. I guess that's ok. There was a long fast day this week, which means I overate at break-the-fast to "make up" for skipping breakfast and lunch (ha ha). All things told, though, I'm doing reasonable well with sticking to my plan, barring any unusual days (like a…

Another INTJ-er here! Agree that most leisure time is solitary. I love to read. I don't read as many "fun books" as I used to and instead read a lot of Jewish texts. My primary focus has been learning gemara, which is the Rabbinic discussions that work to understand Jewish law (as determined in part from the written Torah…

Good afternoon everyone! Busy morning, including a doctor's visit and labs. Whee!

My official WW goal weight was simply the weight that corresponded to a BMI of 25. In other words, I wanted to be in the "normal weight" range. My personal target weight is different. When I was first losing weight via WW, I took to heart something that Brian CSURamFan said: rather than choose a goal weight, choose a way…

The only emotion that I find really messes with my weight-management is boredom. If I'm bored I'm "hungry." It's funny, because I can totally recognize it even in the moment when it's happening, but that doesn't prevent me from taking a pass at the cupboard or fridge!

I'm down 0.6 pounds. But, more importantly, I stuck to my plan really well this week. I ate properly, I didn't have alcohol during the week, and I got all of my planned running in. Yay me. 182/132.6/146
