Could you go to the store that sells the bread you like, buy a large number of loaves, keep them in your freezer, and take out one at a time? For your other question, people buy transport bags and those cooling blocks. They use them to travel with a variety of food.…

Thanks. We're all different people. The important thing is we're all trying and will get there when we get there. It's all positive.

Hi, smile_laughter! I couldn't figure out how to post this in short form on my newsfeed, so I shut my eyes and posted it here. You're a great encouragement to me, too. <3

Everybody, thanks for your comments. About my health stats, my doctor's warning that I could have a heart attack or a stroke really scared me. I also don't want to take pills if I can change my health myself. I love walking so that's the exercise I chose. I joined a gym so I can exercise in bad weather. For my food, I'm a…

Congratulations! You look awesome. You look like a completely different person. I gave up dairy this year due to health problems and lost weight, too.

You look wonderful! Congrats for your fantastic journey!

Wow, what a change. You look fantastic! Congrats!

The exercise I suggest is seeing another doctor. Edited: I saw he has an MRI scheduled. That's good. He should rule out serious illness before going with arthritis. Persistent strong pain is a warning sign. Not to scare you, but I know someone who had persistent pain in his spine and a doctor told him a fall caused it,…

Your big issue to me seems to be confidence and the understanding that you own your own life. The best exercise is the one we are willing to do. If you want to lift weights but feel stared at because you're the only female, can you go at a time when the place has fewer people? Can your fiance go with you? Walking, time on…

I am sorry you've had so much stress lately. Maybe talking to a professional would help? Good luck. I would start small with a few changes and aim to be healthy. I see meals at work as one of your biggest issues. I think if you could tackle that, you wouldn't feel in despair when you go home. Here are my suggestions: (1)…

As other people have said, coffee by itself doesn't have calories (or some tiny number, like 1 or 2). The sugar and milk/cream you add have all the calories. Headache queen here. To the best of my knowledge, coffee (caffeine) will not prevent headaches of any kind. However, if you drink caffeinated coffee on a regular…

Oops, didn't read everything, removing my answer. Good luck

wal If your life is better without certain foods, for health reasons or because you can't control yourself around those foods, then I would stop eating them. I can't buy Greek yogurt. If they are in the fridge I will eat all of them right now, ugh. Maybe add some treats, new food, new spice, more fat like avocado or…

I got mad about the age comment. I see so many age putdowns and age excuses around weight. I also believe these age beliefs are part of our culture. You will lose weight if you eat fewer calories than you burn, no matter what your age. I am over 50 and went from obese to normal and it was not that hard. If I can do it,…

I like these sites. They both have recipes (look on the bar at the top of the screen): http://ohsheglows.com/ http://kamalkitchen.com/

Yes, your sodium can be too low. I recently had a full blood test to check my cholesterol. It showed I am okay in most areas but my sodium was low (not low enough for the doctor to be concerned, but below normal). I don't eat a lot of processed food and don't put salt on my food, so that's probably why. I bought some salt…

I like Amy's brand soups. I'm not sure where you live, but many grocery stores in the US sell them. Amazon sells them, too. Here's an Amazon link if you would like to read about them. My favorite is the lentil vegetable. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=amy%27s+soups

I used to order a grilled cheese sandwich and cup of tomato soup at Perkins. The grilled cheese sandwich: 600 calories The cup (10 oz) of soup is 410 calories and it's half cream and no, you can't order it made with water. 1000 calories for a simple sandwich and tomato soup. Gah. Blergh.

I usually eat legumes twice a day. Lentils are a big source of protein in my day (and also iron and fiber). They've been totally beneficial for me. I often eat them with stir-fry or simmered vegetables and add spice. You mentioned eating soup. One thing to remember is people lack an enzyme to digest the legume shell, so if…

Welcome and best wishes. The MFP food and exercise diary is a good place to start. Many people start by logging what they eat every day, withour making changes, to get a realistic picture of the calories they are eating and their food choices. The food diary has a goal area where you choose your goal weight. The program…

If somebody smelled like coffee I would follow them anywhere.

congratulations!! What an accomplishment! You are so inspiring!

Hi holykrits. I've had success with buying a great looking water bottle and filling it with filtered water, crushed ice, and lemon or lime slices. It might sound silly, but the beautiful bottle makes it seem more like a treat. For snacks, I eat apples, almonds, a small salad with salt and pepper, and plain instant oatmeal…

I'm changing my response to say you have psychiatric problems. See a professional.

Doctors with full schedules can always refer you to another doctor who can fit you in.

Oatmeal eater here of all kinds of oatmeal. I disagree that instant oatmeal has had "the good stuff removed." I wanted to include oatmeal in my diet because it helps lower cholesterol. I researched instant oatmeal versus steel cut oats. I love the texture of steel cut oats but don't love the long cooking time. I eat plain…

Try having a package of instant oatmeal with an apple. The oatmeal is about 100 calories and more filling (to me anyway) than yogurt. My new thing is to drink 1 cup of V8 vegetable juice. It's only 50 calories per 8 oz and takes the edge off my hunger.

College student here. I understand what you are saying and agree. However, FYI, you can take legitimate college classes online. Most colleges today offer online courses, from Harvard on down.

I live near a beautiful nature area. I walk there to look at the hawks and wild grass. I also joined a gym where I walk in bad weather. I often wear earplugs and read a book while I walk on the treadmill. Why do I walk? For exercise, for peace of mind and sanity, for walking meditation. If you are bored with walking or…

I don't know where you live, but if you're in the US you can often go to free stop-smoking/stop-nicotine classes at many hospitals. Many years ago, I stopped smoking cigarettes cold turkey but knew I would start again, so I signed up for classes. It was one of the best things I've ever done for myself. Also, the…
