Are you talking about an american "pint" or a proper pint? A glass of wine is about 130 calories (130ml/ 5floz) whereas a pint of light larger (british pint 568ml) is about 200-250 calories. Quite a big difference.
-
No I'm sorry. That is not how it works.
-
2 meals (lunch and dinner) and rest of my calories come from snacks. As I prefer to graze and don't like sticking to a schedule.
-
No problem. And yeah I know, I always try to be as accurate as possible. Which is why socialising is so hard. I do make sure not to eat any restaurant or pub foods though as you can never trust the calorie counts to be right. I only eat stuff I have made myself or weighed out portions of food. Wine it is from now on.
-
I've only recently started going to the pub again. Trying to be more social. As if I let myself slip I'll stay in the house for days at a time which is bad for my mental health. So no, I wasn't always doing this in my regular calories.
-
True :/
-
Yeah. I always weigh my food. Trust me I know how many calories I'm taking in. It's the pub that has been throwing my calories off.
-
Between 1000-1300, more if I hike (rare) and a maintenance day once a week. It doesn't completely stop the weight loss. But it does considerably slow it down to the point I wasn't losing weight at the expected rate.
-
I generally eat between 1000-1300 and more if it's a hike day. I don't find low calorie particularly hard to be honest, I like a lot of low calorie foods and I have fun making new recipes with few calories but lots of bite.
-
Maybe it's a northern thing to not have diet mixers in pubs :D
-
I can't taste the difference between cola drinks, diet or not. All tastes the same to me. Yeah, it is annoying.
-
Because 4 whiskey and diet cokes is 280 calories. whereas 4 whiskeys and normal coke is 880. That is a big difference. Especially when going the pub twice a week. Say for example I'd eat 1000 in calories that day from food (and yes this is cleared with my doctor, I'm very short so it is fine for me) and had allowed myself…
-
Haha very true.
-
I don't like gin or tonic and they don't carry diet tonic in the pubs. I've found most pubs carry very few or no diet mixers.
-
Yes my TDEE s that low, I'm only 4'9 and rarely exercise except occasional hikes. It's all been discussed with my doctor 1000 is fine for me so long as I watch I'm eating enough macros and micros. Got another 10lbs to lose. About once or twice a week I'll go to the pub. Will do. But pubs aren't known for their great…
-
can you clarify what you asking more? Not quite sure what you're talking about.
-
Well...no not really. Since I'm obviously not only consuming calories from alcohol. So it doesn't work out quite like that Say for example I'd eat 1000 in calories that day from food and had allowed myself 4 drinks at 70 calories each (so 280) to bring my daily to 1280 when I have a TDEE of 1600 per day (so eating at 1280…

Yes, can't stand it unfortunately :/

Guinness is 210 not 120 calorie per pint, not much less than a larger (Which I prefer). Really not a fan of Guinness at all.
-
True in that their not being truthful would usually put me off as a customer. But it's the local and where my group of friends prefer to go. So I'll still go there, but I'll be changing what I drink from now on to something like wine...might try some more spirits to see if I can do neat spirits but I've not found ones I…
-
Yeah. I don't particularly disagree with the rule to be honest. They're a business and there to make money. If everyone started bringing their own stuff they'd lose a lot of money.
-
You can get kicked out of a pub for stuff like that. You're not supposed to bring in your own stuff.
-
Yep. Pretty sad about it to be honest, really put the spanner in the works of socialising for me. As pretty much all social stuff with my friends involves the pub (so British).
-
The reason it readjusts is because the less you weigh the less energy (calories) your body needs to maintain its weight. Therefore you need to eat less to be at a calorie deficit and to lose weight.
-
lol...just what?
-
I unfortunately am not at all a fan of straight spirits. Think I'm just going to go to wine instead now. At about 130 calories a glass it's less calories than what I used to drink which was pints of beer.
-
I study biomedical science. What you just said is complete nonsensical pseudoscience and there is no scientific evidence to back it up. The artificial sweeteners can increase appetite, that's the only reason it is associated with weight gain...but you still need to eat/ drink more calories than you need. That's the only…
-
Apparently what she said was complete bollocks and they have no diet mixers at all.
-
Yeah. I can't taste the difference between cola drinks so i had no idea until it was pointed out to me. For all the bar staff knew I could have been diabetic and requesting diet for a very good reason, and they didn't even bother to tell me what they were giving me was not what I was asking for.

Peanut butter.I love it, but it is so calorie dense there is no point. A single "serving" is so tiny and already clocks about 200 calories. I'm in the camp of if you can't enjoy it properly what's the point in having it at all? I'll still eat ice cream though. I can quite happily sit down and watch a film and eat half a…
