Found out why my weight loss had stalled/ stopped.

...Every time I was ordering a drink at the pub they were giving me normal coke and not diet coke! So annoyed.

I specifically choose a spirit and diet coke as it makes it as 70 calorie drink rather than a 220 calorie drink. I asked the barmaid what diet mixers they have, they said coke, pepsi and diet coke.

Turns out this whole time they were just giving me normal because they don't have diet. So annoyed that they didn't even say "sorry is normal coke okay we don't have diet?" instead I trusted them to give me diet at my request and I've been going hundreds over my calories!

Furious.

Yeah. I can't taste the difference between cola drinks so i had no idea until it was pointed out to me.

For all the bar staff knew I could have been diabetic and requesting diet for a very good reason, and they didn't even bother to tell me what they were giving me was not what I was asking for.

Hold on... you said she said that they have diet coke? I'm confused.

Apparently what she said was complete bollocks and they have no diet mixers at all.

You do know Diet Coke makes you gain weight? Right? Our bodies are so used to fake sugars that it tricks our bodies into thinking it's real sugar. :#

They decided not to tell the OP they didn't have diet and just gave her regular, thinking she wouldn't care.

Yeah.. It's suspicious that when you asked about diet mixers, the first two she listed were NOT diet.

I can absolutely taste the difference between sugar and any kind of artificial sweetener. Unfortunately I hate artificial sweeteners, so I drink my bourbon on the rocks :D. No chance of misunderstandings that way tho!

I unfortunately am not at all a fan of straight spirits.

Think I'm just going to go to wine instead now. At about 130 calories a glass it's less calories than what I used to drink which was pints of beer.

And carbonated drinks make you hungry. The fizz gets close to what triggers the chemical if you're full or not? And well...you eat when you drink anything fizzy. Beer, water, soda...bar makes money. :# Thanks America for the SUPER SIZE. :|

You know, that's really bad. I mean, what if you were a type 1 diabetic and asked for diet soda and got regular? your blood sugar would spike :/

I'm sorry that this happened to you. This is a great example for people who post here and claim they do everything right but can't lose weight, especially the posters who say they know the exact calorie counts of whatever restaurant food they eat and it can't be enough to undo their deficit.

Yep. Pretty sad about it to be honest, really put the spanner in the works of socialising for me. As pretty much all social stuff with my friends involves the pub (so British).

You can get kicked out of a pub for stuff like that. You're not supposed to bring in your own stuff.

    Wow, really?

Yeah. I don't particularly disagree with the rule to be honest. They're a business and there to make money. If everyone started bringing their own stuff they'd lose a lot of money.
