Pretty much this. The study did not find anything that suggested behaviour and intake of calories vs calories out did not make a difference and that BMI is solely genetic. It simply found a correlation between parental and child BMIs which can be caused by a lot of factors. The problem I have with studies like this being…

No starvation mode is nonsense perpetuated by people completely uneducated past high school on advanced biology...and even then sometimes people clearly weren't paying enough attention in lectures and will believe anything they hear on facebook or tumblr.

Just use a converter to figure it out. For example if you weigh 30 grams of cereal but need to log in ounces (for whatever reason), google what 30 grams is in ounces and input that. As for milk, measure it in ml so much easier, no faffing and pretty much all liquids will have a ml option. Unlike the person above I do not…

Forgot to take a picture of what I had for dinner today but roasted Mediterranean baked vegetable tart with sauteed mushrooms, leeks and onions with side salad.
-
Yes. Today I had bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes and leeks and some salad. No fruit though, not a big fan of fruit in general. Prefer savoury foods. But will be having strawberries tomorrow.

I must be going blind, I didn't even see her stats :')

Was that to lose 1 or 2lbs per week? If it is setting it to 1300 a day it may be too aggressive of a weight loss plan for you and you may struggle to stay on track. If you manage fine that's okay, but be sure to eat back at least some of your exercise calories if you're eating that much a day. Also when tracking calories…
-
The good thing about this site is it sets you calorie goal without exercise, so you can add on exercise calories as the days go (if they're not all the same) and you can then eat back some of those calories back if you choose. For example (and this might not be the right amount for you). If MFP set your calorie goal to…

If you set your diary to public and make a thread asking for advice I'm sure many people would love to help.
-
We can't help guide you without knowing how many calories you are consuming in a day. Even if you think you don't eat much in calories you cannot know unless you are tracking. Cake and cookies can have a lot of calories, home made or not. The only way to lose weight is to be at a calorie deficit...how you choose to be at…

Haha same actually. I never really go over on just a food day. But I have a couple of times from alcohol and alcohol related inhibitions.
-
You're not "supposed" to do anything other than eat in a calorie deficit to lose weight. I'd ignore any of that nonsense you hear. Eat however satisfies you and keeps you in your calorie goals.

I have this problem with my sister. Whenever we go out for walks or a hike or something she is always like "oh let's go here for lunch" usually it's a pub, and typically looking at their nutritional information most of the meals are 1000 calories + bare in mind we would have already eaten a packed lunch. Drives me up the…

It is a myth. Not backed up by serious science.

Non of the bolded is true. It just does not work like that. Feel free to argue with my metabolics degree lecturer but it is just complete nonsense. You also shouldn't blanket state what bodies need at a minimum "1500-1600 calories" is my MAINTENANCE I would not lose weight on that and would need to be doing some serious…

Accepting that I can't have my cake and eat it too. Sure when maintaining I can have a day where I just eat a shed load of calories, but it means I then have to scale back on other days. Not going to lie it is frustrating and upsetting knowing I essentially have to track for the rest of my life. Especially being so small,…

Why did you ask for opinions and help on your diet when you clearly are not interested in changing what you're doing? You're arguing against every response and advice given to you.
-
I'll be honest...he doesn't sound very supportive at all if he can't handle you eating different food. Not like you're telling him he has to change his eating.
-
Not obsessive no. But I do sometimes pre-log. For example tomorrow I know I'm going to be hiking for at least 7 hours so I have pre-logged that. And I also know that I'm going to drink a fair amount of alcohol at a party afterwards so I have pre-logged that. A long with the food I plan to eat. It's only really for days…

I used to blend frozen berries with low fat (low calorie) greek yoghurt to make a sorbet for less than 100 calories. Was pretty good, and you can add sweetener if you prefer it sweet.
-
From my point of view, fi there is ever time to stop worrying and logging (if you're comfortable with it) is when you're on holiday. Because holidays are obviously not frequent occurrences, so any back steps you stake while on holiday can be easily overcome when you go back to normal. I'm going on holiday in 3 weeks. I…

I don't think they were saying her crap diet is preventing fat loss. But that her crap diet is causing her constipation and she should sort that out.

You haven't stalled, you're being impatient.

No credible surgeon would perform a tummy tuck when you still have significant weight you plan to lose, as it's a disaster waiting to happen. You won't get the desired results you want doing it this way, you will come out of this with a very odd looking stomach.
-
If you're sure you're logging calories right and in a deficit (or at the least not going over maintenance) it is physically impossible for you to have gained fat. Your body needs extra energy (calories over maintenance) in order to make more fat cells. So don't worry about it. Fluctuations in scale weight are completely…

I disagree. This is the exact way I'd want someone to address me if I was making excuses and not being honest with myself. I much prefer a smack of reality than being molly coddled and have the core issues avoided. The core issue here is that the OP "doesn't know" how to cook or make meal plans, this can easily be overcome…

Hahaha. Such a funny way to put it! Thanks for the laugh.

Which is why I said to make plans around what is cheap or in season. I never said you had to buy what I do, I was just showing you how I make a meal plan. "And we just are not very creative in creating meals from random ingredients. " now see...this where I am just seeing excuses. You're refusing to even learn how to do…

It's not a quick fix and you will still need to drastically alter your diet and eat a lot less than what is normal. If you have that surgery is permanent and you'll never be able to eat like a normal person again. Is that what you want? Not to even have a choice in the matter. A lot of foods will be completely off limits…

Simply make a shopping list of food you like an can afford and that fit in your calorie goals and make a meal plan off that. It's not difficult no matter how much you tell yourself it is. Example. I do all the shopping and cooking for myself and my mum. So I need to plan for 2 people. An example shopping list would look…
