I'm right there with you - my biggest triggers are the weather, coming down from intense stress and hormones. I did find garlic as a trigger for some of my migraines (and if I'm on my monthly and eat garlic, I will get a headache). My sister is triggered by red 40, eliminating that from her diet helped immeasurably. We're…

It might make them think twice though. I used to work at a pizza place and after we started posting our calorie counts, a lot of people stopped eating there every day for a "light snack" before heading home for dinner. (They would take one look at that 600 calorie slice of pizza, 1000 calorie meal - due to the enormous…

I want to know this too, since both my sister and mother also get migraines from it. I don't like the taste, personally. (I don't like the taste of Splenda either). I just avoid artificial sweeteners because they taste bad to me and they're not in the house to accidentally ingest to protect my family from extreme headaches.

When you say sports activities, do you mean actual sports - as in baseball? I'm sure you include exercise - like riding your bike someplace or an intentional walk (like my mother and aunt do when they head out for their 5-mi walk around the neighborhood). I'm not understanding. What is NEAT? I'm sure it stands for…

This^^^ I've worked in retail, trust me, some folks need a nudge to do their jobs and a customer holding up a pizza and saying "Hey this says it's expired. Do you have fresh ones?" is vital. But yes, if milk smells bad or tastes off, toss it. Milk is often set off by light (that's why the ones in cartons and opaque bottles…

I only weigh twice a week on Wednesday morning and Sunday morning. I found the daily weighing was making me neurotic about little fluctuations. It's one thing to check but there's no need to obsess (talking to myself there, just so we're clear. I obsess about things.)

I have always brought lunch because it's more convenient. Presently, I've been bringing wraps (small fajita sized tortillas) with a salad (chicken, egg, tuna, ham) or lunch meat (chicken, turkey) or, when I'm in the mood for it, peanut butter along with some sort of trail mix. I rarely reheat meals because the microwave we…

Bob's your uncle is a British English thing - it's like "There you go." Like when you're explaining something and want to skip all the meaty part. This is an example I found: "left over right; right over left, and Bob's your uncle - a reef knot"

This^^^ If you determined your caloric needs at a sedentary level and then ride your bike to work, you should count it, because that's not sedentary. If you factored in the daily bike ride when you set your activity level, then no it wouldn't count because it's already counted.

I want to wear the skirt I interviewed in again to work before my anniversary date on Oct 3.

Care to explain? I do have a scale with which to measure my food by the gram and all but but the visual cues are useful when you're out at a restaurant or a friend's house and can't break out your scale to check how much food you should be eating. Are these measurement's entirely inaccurate in your experience (is a 3 oz…

I know I didn't used to drink as much as I do now. Now, I aim to drink at least 8 cups a day and usually succeed. I have a 32-oz cup that I'll fill a couple times a day (usually after one of my walks) and I drink a 16-oz glass of water with breakfast and again with dinner. I read that caffeinated beverages don't count as…

I started out simply increasing my activity as part of a health initiative at my workplace. I started out with 1 15 minute walk on my afternoon break, then increased to 2 (adding one on my lunch break), then three (my first fifteen minute break which I am entitled to but hadn't been taking). Now I'm taking four, sometimes…

If I brought my parent a bottle of wine for their anniversary and they open it and we have it with dinner, that's a gift and no, I'd never expect them to give it back so I can take it home. If I bring food to a wake, that's to help the family so they don't have to fight with cooking dinner on top of everything else and, it…

We usually bring disposable wares too, but honestly, if you host an affair of 30 people (especially BBQ's where many people bring salads of different sorts) and everyone brings a dish to pass... how many different iterations of potato salad do you want? I'd think it would be more of a hassle for the host to have to clear…

It's gardening season here in New York so we've been getting a lot of fresh veggies and eating them raw (though I peel cucumbers because the skin has always tasted bitter to me). When veggies aren't in season, I find it harder to eat as many as I should, though I usually will buy frozen ones since the fresh ones are really…

I also work a desk job and I've not yet gone to the gym (there being none in my area - no really, I live in a somewhat rural area). I use my 15 minute breaks (they make me take 2) and my lunch (20 minutes of it anyway) and the time I arrive before work (my carpool gets me there about 20 minutes early) to get over an hour…

Since I've had the same problem, I looked it up... the formula is 14 grams of fiber for every 1,000 calories consumed. It isn't easy for me to get that much, even eating fresh veggies as I do in the summer, as RuNaRoUnDaFiEld said.

I've noticed a lot of people don't eat breakfast. Why is that/How does that work? If I completely skip breakfast, I get really hungry/sleepy before lunchtime. I'm up with the sun (4:30) and generally have something light with my morning coffee (a hard boiled egg, 6-oz of yogurt) and then something else about midmorning…

I stand corrected... did you ever think to perhaps try a smaller portion size? If you have totally sworn off McDonalds and that works for you. That's fine. I still like it and it's a nice treat now and then.

some yum, my sister make maple macaroons that are awesome Hot dogs

Sorry, I know. Nothing is bad as long as you plan for it. I meant fast food is calorie-dense, so I'm not shocked and I'm sure that no one on the site is shocked when they see big amounts of calories associated with it. You can indeed eat anything you want as long as it fits your calorie goals and macros.

I've been at restaurants where the server was sent on break. They sent another waitress to our table to finish us off. I let them fight it out for the tip, but I was understanding and had no problem with it. You should be able to eat some time during a 14 hour day. That's just not right. I work 8 hours at a desk job and I…

A large sweet tea is 220 calories and a large fry is 498 calories... but that still doesn't add up to 1330 calories... Maybe they were thinking a large soda?

I used to work in food service. We would post our calories. I saw people balk at buying a slice of pizza (big slice - like the whole plate) when they saw that it was 400 calories. I was always like, is it a lot? Maybe but you have to eat and if you go to Wendy's (our closest situated competition) you're going to have a…

I'm saying that they probably knew what they were getting into with the first bite... heck, with the first glance.

Not having been to the state fair, I couldn't say. I will say this: I call certain foods "fair foods" (You know the ones, deep fried pickles, deep fried oreos, deep fried twinkies, fried dough). I know those aren't healthy. I don't expect them to be healthy. I know that they are full of fat and sugar and calories. No one…
