Just find a pool that is standard length and swim laps.

Buy a bike and use an indoor trainer. That way if you want to ride outside you have that option. I have a Kurt Kinetic Rock and Roll smart trainer. https://www.kurtkinetic.com/trainers-products/kinetic-rock-and-roll-smart

Physical therapy for sure!

Ok I'm not 40 yet, a couple of months off. This is me on Friday, 4th female out of the water out of 24! 40 is going to be amazing!

Finishing Ironman Whistler in 2013. I was 20th in my age group for the swim! I finished in 15:52! Not "fast" but it was such an exciting day! I need to do another one!

Swimming is my happy place. I can zone out or get in a good workout. I love open Water swimming and pool swimming.

Gains are made by taking rest days. That being said, if you are sore you can take an active rest day. Yoga, walking, swimming. Today I'm super sore from my workout. But didn't want to do nothing. I hopped in the pool and did 2200 yards. I didn't want a high impact workout today. I feel so much better and less sore. But…

Just a word of caution. Don't use the pull buoy too much. It can hurt your shoulders!

When I bump my ankle on anything it's so painful! I'm not getting my hardware out at this point though. I've talked to my dr. About it and it's 3 months of recovery. You can walk, but nothing high impact. Nope! I feel like for me that's a step backwards. If the hardware becomes painful, I'll have it removed. I don't think…

LOLZ!

Keep working with your PT! I'm so surprised you are able to run so soon! It took me over a year and I only had one surgery, one plate and 8 screws! Lol! Good luck with your recovery!
-
Tabatas! On the treadmill. 20 seconds all out, (I step to the side of the mill) 10 seconds rest. 8 times.
-
You can do it! Time, patience and doing your PT exercises religiously!
-
Huh. You ran with a broken foot?
-
Broken ankle with a plate and 8 screws. Took over a year to start running again. I did PT for a year to ensure that my ankle was strong enough and had proper range of motion for running. My goal was not to quit, my goal was to run. My injury wasn't going to stop me forever.

I think so!

My mom is 67. She runs. Looks amazing and younger than all of her friends who do not workout. She ran her first marathon at 60. She's training for a half in October. She wins races (because no one her age runs anymore! Lol). She inspires me everyday to be healthy and run!

Sighting! Sighting! Sighting! Look on YouTube for sighting drills you can practice on the pool and outdoors!
-
But the problem is that people don't know how to seed themselves for starts like this.

If you are are doing a triathlon, pool or open water. You should consider learning how to swim freestyle. You're still going to get passed, you still might kick someone.
-
Breast stroke, well swimming for that matter is zero impact. 750 meters isn't much. Maybe that's why.

Everyone has 24 hours in a day. It matters how you use those hours. I teach 24 8 year olds all day. I stay late after school, but I make exercise part of my daily routine and schedule. Even if you walked for 20 minutes, it's better than nothing.

When you work harder, your heart rate will get faster. When you become more efficient at that pace your HR will be lower. You are fine.

My first 5k after I broke my ankle was 55 minutes. A few weeks ago I did a5k in 30 minutes. Not a PR, not even close. I now gauge everything post broken ankle! Lol!

I broke my ankle and have a plate and 8 screws. I was in PT a solid year so I could get back to running. I would definitely get some PT to help with your ROM when squatting and running. I still have a small bit of range I just can't physically get to because of the injury but it's sure close to normal I think because of…

I would t worry about doing much at this point in your healing. You are a week out of surgery. Take care of yourself. Get clearance from your doctor before you start working out again. 2 weeks after ORIF ankle surgery I was "swimming". Meaning it felt good to get in the pool. I used a pull buoy to swim a bit and did very…

Sounds like you need some physical therapy!
-
I'd actually prefer about 79!
-
Along the same lines, I would suffer through a swim workout in 90 degree pool temps. I mean I could do it, but I'd be slower and have a real hard time sprinting. I would also need a lot of water! Lol!

I'd actually go see a doctor first. You don't know why you lost so much weight. It could be a thyroid problem, hyperthyroid. Obviously, I'm not a doctor but did have hyperthyroid and I lost quite a bit of weight and ate like a linebacker. Hyperthyroid can be very dangerous as it takes a toll on almost everything in your…
