  • Well I been Keto for over a year now and my hair is still white. Like all over white. But I am good with that. I use to pay a lot of money for this hair color when I was young. Got me into bars! ;)
  • *face palm* From a ketoer to the OP. If you are struggling ... please stop. This woe or even low carb doesn't work for everyone. Enjoy your carbs! There is nothing wrong with them! It's about CICO no matter what way you choose to eat. Find what is right for you. And please. Don't drink the kool aid. Or the fat for that…
  • I like it. It works for me and my life. Hubby likes it too. Our doctors are happy and we are content with it. I think restrictive is a relative term. It is not restrictive to ME to eliminate something from my diet that holds no value for ME. I am starving within an hour of eating a bowl of oatmeal or rice. So I just ate…
  • Thank you guys! You gave me a few things to think about and give a try! Most helpful. Jon - thanks for the clothing info. I will take it on-board. There's a running store close to where I work that I will pop into and see about shoes. I get the weather thing. I live in Florida so I have the opposite problem. lol…
  • You'll gain some water weight by eating more carbs than you are use to. Other than that enjoy the day. It's once a year! As long as you get right back on track I see no reason to deprive yourself unless you want to. If doing that will cause you to go off the rails and eat all the things for weeks then that's another story…
  • I think it was around 4lbs. What I do remember for sure was I pee'd CONSTANTLY. OMG who knew a person could carry around that much water!!
  • I have been keto for over a year now. I am absolutely not going to attempt to convince you of anything. CICO still applies. I chose this way of eating because I like it. I finally figured out that for ME it wasn't the pastas and breads or grains I liked, it was the stuff on TOP of it that I liked. Those other things were…
  • That was pretty awesome!! Thanks for your knowledge on this.
  • ^^TRUTH^^ OMG some entries are horrid!! I have so many ridiculous entries clogging up my food diary because I used it once then figured out it was wrong and now I can't get rid of it. I have toyed with cancelling my account and rejoining to get rid of the nonsense!
  • If asking me, I typically try not to go over 40 net. I prefer lower because I like the way I feel when in constant ketosis. Not for any other reasons. 40 net has me bouncing in and out. 30 and under has me pretty solid in ketosis and I enjoy that feeling. MOST of my carbs are from veggies. Days where I hit the higher end…
  • No ... just no. Someone will rip my straight up black coffee from my cold dead hands! Anyone caught trying to put stuff in said coffee will lose their fingers! I don't get the fascination with BPC or really any kind of *fixed* up coffee. Trying to find just plain old black coffee is becoming like a treasure hunt. When you…
  • I am 55 and been keto for a year. CICO still matters and I logged consistently while I was losing. I am maintaining now and log when I feel the need to check myself. I know I will always have to do this. Carb creep is a thing! I don't vilify them but for ME they cause issues so I have to keep them in check. I lost…
  • At 55, I still find myself amazed ...
  • I have it. Mine stems from an odd curvature in my neck. Once I got my CPAP it was like a whole new world for me. Life was so cool because I was awake for it lol. Weight did drop for me easier than before. I am guessing cortisol was an issue. And I chose a different way of calorie management once I started feeling better.…
  • Heavy whipping cream, berries, cream cheese, nut butters, dark chocolate, full fat yogurts, sour cream, sugar free jello and puddings, low carb tortillas made into chips, burritos made with lettuce wraps, pizza burgers, all beef, pork, and chicken or turkey with skin on, most all above ground veggies and leafy greens,…
  • How old are you? A lot of this is going to be age and genetics. I'm 55 and yes I have some skin issues but it's not as bad as I feared. I've been maintaining since May roughly and they say to give it a couple YEARS. After that you pretty much have what you have. I've recently started getting serious with kettlebells and…
  • OMG LMAO I love it!!!! CONGRATS on your hard work!
  • Am glad I found this thread! I am 55 and I LOVE my kettlebell!! I have been struggling using it because I have a horrid internet connection and trying to follow along with you tube videos is a nightmare! Hello 5min rest times while the video buffers!! Ugh! Thank you for writing down what you are doing and when you increase…
  • Ok first off be CAREFUL supplementing potassium. You get more than you think you do in natural foods and in the US potassium isn't required on labels. Salt is your equilizer. As long as you keep that up the other is not needed as long as you don't become deficient. You can get nu salt and lite salt at most any grocery…
  • When I first started keto I used them. I think I bought one bottle. It helped me to see the results and correlate it to how I was feeling physically. Once I got the hang of things and a good glimpse of how I was feeling when in ketosis I stopped using them and just checked intermittently until the bottle was gone.
  • Congrats!! Awesome work!
  • Aren't chia seeds a good source of Omega 3's? Anyway I use them and make a chocolate pudding as a snack. Pretty filling!
  • We have found the opposite. I only buy what's on sale. I don't do a bunch of almond flours and the like. For the most part I don't do organics and total grassfed because the check book doesn't allow it. Whole chicken legs with skin and drumbsticks along with fattier cuts of meat and frozen veggies are cheaper in my area of…
  • Count me in this camp! Getting pb to stick on them is an adventure in and of itself! lol
  • The first one! Reduced fat to decrease calories. If I hadn't adjusted my calories down I would have remained stalled I think.
  • I don't think the advice has changed. I remember you and some of your questions. I think your needs have changed which has changed the advice. You are in a totally different place than you were. When I first started I ate all the fat too. Then as my body changed and my needs changed I had to lower the fat to continue…
  • USDA entry for whole eggs, raw. Weigh them. Cook them how I want. adding the butter or whatever. Weigh the left over shell then subtract amount from original gram total before cooking. There is also a USDA for eggs hardboiled. Same concept. Shells dont weigh that much so if I'm in a hurry I dont minus them off.
  • Keto flu can pretty much be avoided but sounds like you should be waiting for a firm diagnosis from your medical team! Good luck to you!
  • Welcome! Sounds like you are motivated to get this started! Lots of great folks around here!!!
  • Yes. I work for University of Florida and there is a LOT of Keto studies on cancers and tumors. Particularly brain tumors. It is promising in rodents but its so far away for humans it bothers me. However there are some people that have adopted it along with conventional treatments and have had positive outcomes. I just…
