  • I have been on keto for almost a year. Reached goal weight in May and have been maintaining since. I plan to eat this way for life. I love the foods I eat and am very content with this way of eating. Do your research and decide for yourself if you would like to try it. It is not a magic bullet. You still have to count…
  • @nvmomketo ... am so sorry to hear this :( I am on my phone and it doesn't like to post links but try some google fu with Univeristy of Florida. I work there in research and there is a lot being looked into food wise. Keto I know is one thats studied with tumors and there may be more I am not aware of. I hope you can find…
  • 20 grams of chia seeds with water to make a pudding. Add some dark chocolate and a couple drops of stevia and I'm golden.
  • Was about 2 days I would say. Maybe 3. Happened like Sunny_Bunny_ said it would!
  • Do yourself a favor and realize if you do try keto you do NOT have to have recipes with 15 ingredients in them or bunches of special foods. A typical day for me would go something like this .... I will give you a work day example since that is when I am shortest on time. Breakfast: 2 hardboiled eggs. 2 slices of bacon.…
  • Here is one of my favorites ... Porkchop cooked in a teaspoon of coconut oil and seasoned to my liking. Steamed cabbage with a tablespoon of melted butter and warmed chopped walnuts over the top. Meal is ready in about 30 minutes. Remember, you don't have to make it hard on yourself. You dont have to cook something with 15…
  • IMHO it's a money making scam aimed at the Ketogenic folks. It *may* be useful for certain individuals with certain health issues. Other than that, for general folk, I think it's rubbish. And keto flu can easily be avoided by paying attention to your sodium. Much much cheaper option. :)
  • Excellent work!
  • People say it's restrictive. To ME it doesnt matter where I cut calories from. It matters what is satisfying to me and helps me reach/maintain my goal with as little fuss as possible. I prefer tastier fatty foods than low fat, so for me it's not restrictive in the least. It is an individual thing. If you are not dealing…
  • I have found I hit that button on accident. I am usually on my phone so when I scroll, that button is RIGHT where my finger touches my screen. It's annoying as all get out! Same with the quote button on the left. I try to catch it when I do accidentally hit it and correct it but my guess is I have missed a bunch. I think…
  • You have lost 2 inches in 3 weeks? If you measured correctly I'd call that a win personally. :)
  • First ... you dont need to drink a ton of water. Drink when you are thirsty. You also need to be mindful of your sodium and make sure you keep that up. Most who suffer from irritability and feeling bad are not getting enough salt which throws electrolytes out of balance. Easy to avoid problem. You can also have whatever…
  • I'll just leave this here :) mobile.nytimes.com/2016/09/13/well/eat/how-the-sugar-industry-shifted-blame-to-fat.html Now I am not going to sit here and bash Harvard. I am also not on the "sugar is the devil" band wagon either. I have elminated sugars in my diet for my own reasons. HOWEVER ... follow the money and you can…
  • If you are looking for low carb AND low fat Keto is not for you. What makes that way of eating helpful for some is the higher fat content which helps with satiety and energy. It is your fuel instead of carbs.
  • I can't see your diary but I am curious about your fat intake. Are you maxing that out? A lot of people stall because they think they have to meet that goal. It's fat to SATIETY. If you are hitting your fat goal daily back off of it some. Carbs is a hard limit you set for yourself. Meet your protein goal daily as long as…
  • HAHA! ... there is that!
  • Have you been checked for sleep apnea? I didnt think I had it but my doc had me go for a sleep study anyway. Got the shock of my life when it came back that I did have it. From the time my machine was delivered my life has changed! Including easy adherence to the ketogenic lifestyle :)
  • There is no Keto vs Calorie Counting. You still have to do that. Fat is high calorie and you have to watch it. For SOME people the Keto way of eating helps curb hunger so they don't have to count and can lose weight. I have to count because even though I am full I know myself and don't trust my own signals! I didn't log…
  • I will ditto what the others have said. Its not an "ants in your pants" kind of energy but the ability to keep moving at a steady pace all day. No crashes, no sleepies, no OMG I have 2 more hours of work left and all I want to do is take a nap! I will say I do experience a strange feeling of being .... awake. It is the…
  • Maybe it is the brand. I use Utz usually and honestly I cant taste the pork rind part at all. I just use a pan and brush the bottom of it with a bit of bacon grease so they dont stick.
  • Maybe you need to figure out WHY you are cheating. Do you feel too restricted? Are your cravings a problem? Are you not eating enough when you are eating Keto? Figuring that out should help you analyze why you are doing what you are. Hope you get back on track!
  • I crush them and make pancakes. I know sounds gross but even hubby wants these ALL the time lol. 1 cup crushed pork rinds 2 large beaten eggs 2 TBSP Heavy whip cream 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 tsp cinnamon Let sit for about 5 minutes That is the original recipe. Then I add .. About 2 oz cream cheese 1/2 tsp baking powder…
  • I met ny goal weight and still kept loosing. For me to maintain I have to make sure I get close to my daily fat goal and upped my calories. Ketosis didnt have anything to do with that part of it. i just had to find my happy place
  • I think this is where things come down to individuals. I haven't had a gallbladder for roughly 20 years. Hubby has gallstones and only a partially functional gallbladder. I have no trouble. His gallbladder is triggered more by vegetables that tend to give him gas lol. Go figure. I can't tell you the last time I had an…
  • Yep it is safe. I've been doing it for almost a year now. I think i get plenty of veggies and I also eat fruit in quantities that don't make me go over what I've alloted for myself. I am now in maintenance and plan on staying Ketogenic. It is not a magical diet it is not universal to everyone. I love what I eat. YMMV.
  • I am not from the south but live here now in Florida. Two words. SWEET TEA. OMG they are absolutely not kidding even a little bit!!! It makes my toes curl and my mouth pucker. Swear I get a cavity just smelling it lol. They have to be at least 500 cal a glass lol And yep they can eat but they are some of the BEST people I…
  • Do your research first before you jump in. Try the low carb forum here. They have a ton of material to go through and learn from. Most people who try this way of eating and fail is because they let their electrolytes get out of balance and feel like poo. Salt is your friend! Also fat isn't satieting for everyone so that is…
  • Welcome!!
  • I used to feel like this until I realized I didnt really hate exercise. What I DO hate is being bored. For ME that is things like stationary bikes, treadmills, stair stepper thingies, etc. I loathe cardio programs with jumping jacks, running in place or just plain running for the sake of it. That kind of stuff. But, I LOVE…
  • Ditto! It takes time to figure all this out in your head and time for your body to adjust. Sodium is massively important as has been addressed already. It bears repeating!! Once you've adjusted it will get easy! Keep on keeping on!
