Well first off I never said I DO workout for hours now, I said I’d like to. Thanks for all the replies!

Thanks all for the replies. -I’ll read that article, thanks for that! -As for the socializing vs. actually working out; I actually workout the whole time -Find somewhere else to spend my life? Why? I love the gym. I spend my time doing things I love, I love working out -As for the recovery, thats my main concern. Am I…

Couldn't have said it better myself.

You're right. I guess what I'm more looking for is a good place to get a generic, beginners bulking workout plan. I assume things like squat, deadlifts and the like are important as well as the reps (8-12).
-
I appreciate all the responses. @usmcmp duly noted. Thanks @sgt1372 Well, I know I'm logging accurately but I also ride to a from work on a bike (30min one way). I think I've got pretty high TDEE. I have not been doing the same thing for the last 5 years but I do feel like I should've gained more muscle by now than I…

Geez!!! That's a ~2lbs. a week, solid!!!! Keep up the good work man!

There are faster ways of losing weight. I won't post them here though because I'll probably get chastised for it. Might I suggest checking out Lyle McDonald? Dude's a genius. I always encourage people to figure out things on their own... if you have the motivation and put in due diligence, not only will you lose weight but…

*Ridiculous. Just sayin. OK CONTINUE!!!!!
-
I guess I'm also wondering why this is.. I know the mile mentioned some hormonal whirlwind of sorts for females and a little bit of trouble for males but is it dangerous to diet longer than that?
-
Thanks guys! @trigden1991 somebody had to say it!
-
I second that. Definitely not just for obese people. I'm not obese ~20% BF and I've been doing it for almost a month with no negative side effects. Unless you count losing weight a negative side effect. See what I did there??? -.-

Dude!!! Tell me about it!! All of his books are researched to death! I have read it actually. Funny thing I think I noticed with his writing; as he gets older he tends to not include citations and instead just says something like "i'm not going to cite this because they're so much research on it anyways that if you didn't…

Hahaha that's hilarious. Yeah, I've found through horrid trail and error that there are some seriously ignorant people. It's as if they come up with ONE idea for how weight loss works and if the science doesn't fit that idea, it's crap.
-
Yeah I hear you. Lucky enough, where I live we don't require a referral from a doctor. What did you mean by that last part? Do some people believe that a PSMF doesn't work?
-
I can't give you any exact quotes but Lyle McDonald has some doubts as to whether or not when will lose muscle if the PSMF diet is done correctly. He says muscle loss should be minimal if at all. Most the time people just don't get enough protein to outweigh the catabolic affects of a diet but whatever. We will see :-)
-
Wow great info here! FYI; I'm on a PSMF and have been for a good 2-3 weeks now. It's T O U G H, but gets results quick. I'm having my RMR and body fat scanned via DEXA before the diet and after. I'll update when I get the results (if I remember).
-
Why are low calorie diets out of the question? That's the best way to lose weight. McDonald suggests a high protein diet (at least 1.2 grams of protein per pound of lean body weight), then as low as you can go with carbs and fat with a good weight training program. Follow all of that and voila! You'll lose weight
-
Well if you read the article I linked above to Lyle McDonald's website, the science that he's read has supported the idea that your metabolism does indeed slow down as you diet.
-
Yeah I found out about Lyle McDonald through a different post on here and have been hooked ever since. The guy is a fitness genius of sorts.
-
First off, I've done loads of research. Please don't assume that I haven't. If you want to see my reasoning, just ask like the other members have. This isn't for a school paper or some other thing I have to write but am too lazy to do the research myself . Secondly, the article I was referencing is:…
-
hahaha the author of that has some serious opinions about people who believe in the starvation mode!
-
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
-
Thanks for that. I know someone mentioned I think someone with the last name McDonald and how he's done some studies or something on that... just can't find them. Thanks again :)
-
Good point. Anorexic people also don't have much muscle haha
-
Hate to be a bug but can you provide evidence for that? I'd like to know for sure that the body can only metabolize a certain amount of fat per day and if it goes below that it'll use protein. Appreciate the responses!
