  • What everyone else said, and try out a pair of Injinji sox. They are toe sox made to go in those nutty toe shoes, but they help pad toes in regular shoes better than regular sox. Even better than fantastic regular sox. I was surprised at how much they've helped me.
  • I live in Nuu Muus. Check out their website. They don't climb up my belly floobies. They look great at the track or on a trail or a bike or in the garden. They dress up with a sweater or jacket. They come in a pretty scoop top or the classic and modest keyhole neckline. They dry out after a swim in the Mediterranean. Ruu…
  • Are you working with an asthma specialist or just your regular physician? If it's your regular physician, they generally don't know anything beyond albuterol. Get thee to an asthma specialist! There are several really good alternatives to albuterol. My son used Levibuteral after albuteral made him nuts. Also, you may need…
  • I have a cheapy with "cook," "warm," and "unplugged" settings. It has a poorly fitting steamer section that can sit on top. It works great. White, brown, pearl, jasmine, Calrose, it's all good. Can't imagine paying the big bucks.
  • I became lactose intolerant at about 55. Funny thing though. I did the program in the book "I Gave Up Sugar" after having a runaway relationship with it. My hot flashes went away as did my lactose issues. More than two years later, and back eating sugar (though not as much as before), I'm still good with dairy. Hm.
  • I love oatmeal, but I rarely eat it. It just doesn't stick with me even when I doll it up with nuts and milk and whatnot. I need a solid animal protein in the morning.
  • Are you religiously stretching after every workout? That may be the cause of your hip/knee pain. Walking and running are both good, except that very well run studies show that about 2/3 of people who do them do not lose weight (I'm one of them). Whichever one you will happily do is the one to do. For fitness if nothing…
  • If I put it in the pan, I count it. Even if there's enough left after I'm done cooking to smear around and reseason my cast iron. The only time this isn't true is when I use a lot of oil to cook in, a lot is left over, and i can account for the difference.

  • No one should shave their pits!
  • Fasting makes me feel like crap for three days after. I think that is more than what is being asked. So I tend to eat a tiny bit for breakfast and mid afternoon, and take at least 2 cups of water over the course of the day.
  • Organ meats especially liver, heart, tongue, and tripe. Can't bring myself to eat kidneys, though. As if they can even be found these days.
  • Homemade refries and corn tortillas with a sprinkle of low fat mozz. Fruit on the side or turn them into tacos and get a head start on veggie consumption.
  • 57 years old, and eaten from/cooked in cast iron all my life. 1) There is no sin in soap. If you can taste it, you didn't rinse well enough. Period. I've soaked them overnight or longer in soapy water, scrubbed with all sorts of soaps, and they power on. Not sure where this soap fear comes from. Mom did the same with the…
  • I l-o-v-e "Barbara Kingsolver Greens." Get a copy of "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" and make her recipe. You can follow the complete recipe including the eggs (great for breakfast or for dinner), or leave out the eggs. Rippin' good greens of any sort!
  • Personal feelings here: I used cartoned eggs a few times and thought they were disgusting. But so many people like them I thought it was me. Then I went camping with several other families and the morning it was my turn to make breakfast I used real eggs. Two of the families were blown away. They'd been using…
  • I would add that eliminating these foods won't cause weight loss. I am very gluten sensitive (not Celiac, but gluten gives me the squats), and eliminated gluten from my diet 5 years ago. I weigh more now. It's all CICO. Also, I ate gluten on purpose last week while in Italy to test for myself the "European wheat is more…
  • Don't forget to do 2 sets of about 30 yards each butt kicks and high knees 2-3x/week. Even that small amount makes a huge difference. Hills once a week--find a nice hill and run up it for two minutes at a steady pace. This doesn't have to be a fast pace, just a steady pace. Then walk back down. Do that 10 times. Practice…
  • Brooks Dyad 8's are good and stiff for better support. They allow me to run in spite of a big toe that can't bend, a tricky Achilles, and thinning tissue in my heels. Of course, slipping a pair of green Superfeet in them doesn't hurt, either!
  • Oh, God! Is this "diet" making the rounds again? I thought we killed that one 30 years ago.
  • Keep in mind that drinking more than a liter an hour can cause "water intoxication." More than that can mess up your electrolytes and send you to the hospital or possibly kill you.
  • Naps good!

  • Check this out: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6AtMgeRkSKk Also google YouTube "mom exercising using kids." You'll find lots of options!
  • I've worn men's running shoes for years because of my wide feet. Sometimes the heel is too large as a pp noted, but if you use the "heel lock" on the laces at the top of the shoe, it will hold you in place like a charm! I have the advantage of an awesome running store, and it turns out that the Brooks Dyad 8 women's runner…
  • if you are bloated you may also have a food allergy or intolerance that can also cause you to feel like that. but detoxes dont help with digestion or metabolism or give you energy unless it has caffeine or a caffeine derivative in it,or possibly a B vitamin that can give you a little energy.[/quote] Agree about considering…
  • For me personally, cheese. O, cheese, I do so love thee! I tend not to buy good cheese because I can sit down and sliver away at an entire portion until it is gone in one sitting. I keep lots of low fat mozz on hand, though, because small amounts give me a melty cheese fix, but it is too dreadful to just sit down and eat.
  • OK. Exclusive. On the bf board I belonged to back in the day, it meant extended, and a lot of women thought that anything longer that three to six months constituted "extended." Which is sad.
  • Wentworth (grittier Australian version of Orange is the New Black) Rake (funny, also Australian) If you like BBC murder mysteries: The Fall, Luther, Broadchurch, Shetland, Happy Valley, London Spy, River, Southcliffe. And, American delights: Parenthood, Nurse Jackie, Dexter, House of Cards, West Wing.
  • I think you have a very sexy belly! (Not come on to you just telling it like it is.). Love your little pooch. It's barely there, and adorable. You are doing great.
  • Add onion.
  • Oh those evil tortilla chips! The devil's handiwork. Hummus or baba ganoush with cucumber slices and red or green pepper slices and broccoli to dip in it. Trader Joe's Red Pepper Spread (or if you don't have access to TJ's look for ajvar--eye-var--at the store. Zergut is a popular brand.) same dipping arrangements. Or…
