  • Sofchak: sushi, sushi, sushi.
  • Baked Tostitos scoops. I make a freaking mean plate of nachos with those. I also second cutting up tortillas but I nuke them 2 minutes.
  • It's normal.
  • Something you can't track, but which is awesomely effective is to cook in cast iron. Especially acid foods like tomato sauce or long cooking foods like soup. I was anemic as a youth but as an adult I've cooked something every day in cast iron. My levels are always great.
  • That is a pretty low caloric intake. But, to press on, you can have a one (real!) egg omelet, overstuffed with 2 cups of cooked kale and a cup of mushrooms for the same calories as those grapes and bananas. Way more filling and you knock out some protein, superfood, and fiber all in one tasty, enormous meal.
  • I am all about kale and mushrooms.
  • Exactly why I made MY post on cheat days. Naysayers be darned. I feel in upswell, a movement of positivity coming on!
  • Simple portion control. But even with that said, I breast-fed my child for 31 months and never lost a pound. It just doesn't work for some people. Just feed your baby, be active, eat good food. BTW--i'm going to hop on my little soapbox for just a second. EBF refers to extended breast-feeding, which is when you breast-feed…
  • You want to know why I'm concerned? Here's why: Anyone who's been on this forum for any length of time has read any number of posts by incredibly vulnerable people. People who are at the mercy of the diet industry, people who are at the mercy of the food industry, people who don't have the "will power" that others do, and…
  • About the article, hm. I just pulled it up and read it. I'm not a member of anything. Not sure why you can't get in.
  • Also, be aware that some very well-run studies have shown that not that many people lose weight from walking or running. I am one of them. You can talk CICO till the cows come home, but I simply do not lose weight when I am running. Only about 1/3 of people actually do. That said, I would never discourage you from…
  • I completely understand what you are talking about. It's called compulsive over eating. I am a compulsive overeater, and I come from a long line of compulsive overeaters. I can do great all day with food, eating healthy eating well. But in the evening everything goes down the dumper.I can get completely obsessed. I hate it…
  • First of all, I don't call them cheat days. I think we need to approach our diets in positive terms, and that makes it sound like we are doing something bad. But, beyond that… I don't track anything from Friday dinner to Saturday night. I made up a "food" with my daily calorie count as its value, and I enter that for…
  • You might want to read this article from Harvard. It's got a lot of good, solid medical advise that may help decide what to do: http://www.health.harvard.edu/digestive-health/constipation-and-impaction
  • I prefer to press on without punishing myself. If I can tweak a meal slightly without making it feel like I was "bad" I'll do that. For example, if I had pre-logged a hamburger for dinner with all the trimmings, and then blew my daily calories by having brownies, I might just lose the bun and turn it into a hamburger salad…
  • Totally awesome chicken nugget recipe in one of the Gluten Free Girl cookbooks!
  • RodaRose, thank you. I've been following that thread which is where my questions came from!
  • Love bibimbap, and though it has lots of white rice, it's essentially healthy protein and veg. Get it in the hot pot and allow the delightful crust of rice to develop. Eat with a spoon not chopsticks. Bulgogi is great (if you want to try that out before you leave home, pick up a frozen saffron road bulgogi from the health…
  • Also very fond of Mayo Clinic site. In general, put more trust in websites that end with .edu or .org than any of them with a .com.
  • Bumping up!
  • Welcome! I went gf five years ago because of a sensitivity as well. It truly is overwhelming. Gluten seems to be in every damn thing you find in the grocery store – – even things that are not overly processed. Here are a few suggestions I would make: Understand that depending on how sensitive you are, or how sensitive you…
  • Second the PT suggestion. Outside that, though, I have aging related wrist and shoulder difficulties, and I have had a great amount of luck doing push-ups against the wall, varying how far my feet are away from the wall as I progress, I also do them using a table for support. You can also do them on the stairs, working…
  • Thank you for the great ideas! Totally forgot about a few of them. Btw kommododevaran: I am already a mega water drinker. My fave drink of all time. I have a glass of it with ice on hand all day, every day. I grew up on amazing well water that started me drinking water early on. Just need something watery that's a bit…
  • Remember too, that sugar-free doesn't necessarily mean low-calorie. That sugar-free peanut butter you are eating, is only 10 cal per 2Tbs serving lower than peanut butter with sugar in it. Seeds are also pretty calorie dense. A nice serving of a lean protein like grilled chicken, or even a nice lean piece of grilled steak…
  • My God! Is this coming back around like that freaking grapefruit diet? Don't buy it.
  • I second gazpacho!
  • You might check with your doctor and get a blood test. Could be anemia, thyroid, if you are the girl in the picture-pregnancy.

  • That would be a great way to start the day, but it is not really no-cal/low cal. Just want a drink, not a meal, but thanks!
  • A giant pack of corn tortillas, and a giant batch of homemade refried beans is my starting point! Also, not sure what part of the world you are in, but if you can find a restaurant supply store, like Cash 'n' Carry (not! Costco which is not! cheap) you can get really good deals on food there. If you can find one, set aside…
  • Eid mubarack!
