  • That's great progress! In my book, maintaining is a WIN too!
  • Wow! That's AMAZING progress! Great job!
  • I think you can freeze the beans that are left over. When I boil legumes, I usually boil more then I need and freeze the rest. Sometimes I guess we just need a more restful day, and that's ok!
  • I am so happy to read about your mental changes about how you view and relate to food. I only hope I can get there in time!
  • Great job hanging in there @NatashaLP2014 !!! You have won a battle against the scale!
  • Excellent numbers @NovusDies!!!
  • Take care! Sending prayers your way!
  • Congrats @FitByFifty1970!!!!! So happy for your achievement!
  • Yes, I agree that the book has its highs and lows. As you say, some of the info is useful. It was the first diet-CBT book that I read, so for me some of the stuff really helped. But it may very well be that there are better diet-CBT books out there.
  • @NovusDies: I hope you are feeling better! @bmeadows380: Have fun on the road trip and be safe! Enjoy the diet break, and those extra calories with all the yumminess :) @conniewilkins56: I think the Beck diet book really helped me with handling my mind around binges so far. I'd recommend it. I am in no way affiliated with…
  • My food-related update is that I took a diet break. I didn't plan it, but it happened due to increased hunger. So I had a couple of binges, and ate at maintenance for about 1 month. I've seen an increase of about 3-4 lbs, but I'm not too worried, it is coming off again. I've been back in deficit for a couple of days and it…
  • @hansep0012 That is very nicely put! Here's to enjoying this season of weight management! Enjoy the upcoming trip and all the delicious calories coming your way, @bmeadows380 !
  • I've been lurking around, reading you all and cheering on your progress. Now that the conversation is becoming interesting, I'll give my 5 cents ;) I have a couple of friends that have met their now husbands on online Christian dating sites. I know there's always a risk there, but it may be worth a try. That widens the…
  • Congrats on the whoosh!!!! So happy for you!
  • Congrats for sticking with the aerobic session till the end!
  • I've also tried WW many years ago, but never figured out the point system. I find calories much easier to understand. @bmeadows380 It's amazing you are now in the moderately active category!! It's awesome you've built this good habit! Also, your planned vacation sounds lovely - I really enjoy hiking.
  • Thank you for the calculations and advice! I looked back at my MFP info and it seems that my rate loss was very similar 4 years ago, and I had a plateau at 196 lbs (I'm at 207 now). So, for now, I'll do as you said, increase the calories to 'slightly active' for a two week trial, and take it from there.
  • Welcome Natasha! Congrats on your decision to join MFP again and get back at it! I admire people who can sew, and it's amazing you can make clothes for your family. I am now trying to teach myself how to knit and am enjoying the challenge.
  • Thanks for the openness! My MFP target weightloss is 1 lbs/week. With the "sedentary" option, I get 1600 calories a day. With "slightly active" I get 1820. The change in weight during the past 30 days was 11 lbs from 218.5 (18 March) to 207.5 (16 April).
  • Good point! Yes, I should remember to give myself credit for keeping on track and exercising for the past few weeks. Consistency is key to controlling my weight, and I've been doing good. Thanks for the reminder!
  • Very inspiring advice!
  • Later edit: I see the topic has changed in the meanwhile! Still going to ask for your advice though :) You are keeping really active!! These days, with social distancing and everything, I struggle to get 10k steps in on a regular day. Nonetheless, that is my aim. Since you were talking about steps and levels of activity, I…
  • I like the fat brain topic, so I thought I'd chime in. I have a weird combination of fat brain and slim brain. Sometimes I feel like I haven't lost weight at all, and other times my brain suddenly feels like it has a really tiny body and starts bumping into things... Those are the days I am really happy with my progress…
  • Hi Becky and Jessie! Nice to have you here and to hear about your success. Keep strong!
  • Thank you for the welcome @NovusDies. Third time's the charm @bmeadows380! ;) As for the "switch": my family has a history of thyroid imbalance, but as far as I know my levels are within normal range. Good food for thought to talk over with my doctor. Stay safe & healthy everyone!
  • Hi @bmeadows380! After reading your bio, I identified with 2 parts: 1) the ups and downs of weight loss, especially with PCOS, and, most of all, with this: 2) "I don't know what controls that little switch in my mind that gives me the willpower to succeed in dieting, so I don't know what kicks it on or kicks it off, but I…
  • Hi! I'd love to join the group! I've been on MFP for 3 years and have been losing and gaining the same 40 lbs over and over again in the past 15 years. :# But I need to start again, and I need to believe this time will be different  So, I started in March at about 230 lbs and by now I'm down to 214lbs. I exercise…
  • You've got this! Hope you have lots of fun!!
  • This is so awesome! Congratulations!!
  • How long did it take you to get the first rank? Congrats!! I just took up boxing classes and really enjoy them :)
