  • I don't understand why people think that you need a load of alcohol in you to puke six times. My friend has no tolerance at all, two cans of Cruiser's (each can being 7%) is enough to send her puking all night and feeling absolutely terrible the next morning. Most people with average tolerance would at least need ten cans…
  • I think it's more a body image problem than it is a weight loss problem, because I have friends who are quite skinny already but feel as if they're not satisfied, and so are joining me in losing that extra weight. I think trying out new clothes would help, you don't have to buy them, just window shop and try them. When you…
  • It's up to her what she wants to do. Drinking is full of calories but that doesn't mean she can't account for it by going on a deficit earlier or later on, just like anything else.
  • Okay, if you guys think it's not unhealthy, then I won't bring it up to her. She's just a really good friend of mine so I don't want to see her crash and burn, or become really, really miserable when doing low-carb without understanding what she's doing. Thank you though :)
  • Even if you have a lot of calories to lose, losing more than 8 lbs per month will be dangerous to your health, going up to 8 lbs per month is already nearing dangerous. There's a reason as to why MFP only goes up to 8 lbs per month. Please make sure that you have realistic expectations before you come into your weight loss…
  • Yeah, I always weigh myself in my gym clothes every week or every two weeks. Whenever I remember to do so. If I see a loss/gain, then I weigh myself a couple days later to check if it's not water fluctuation, and then I put that number in MFP if it's the same number.
  • Yeah I know that's what you personally do. I know that swapping out normal buns with a lettuce bun would drop the calories by a good 100, but it would be hard to guess the meat and everything else on it too, that's why I suggested to still add around 50 calories to the guess just in case. I didn't suggest leaving the place…
  • What do you usually buy when you travel? If you go to supermarkets, there should be pre-packaged food that you can just heat up in the microwave. Not exactly healthy, but you have a ballpark of how much calories it is.
  • I would say the opposite actually. Even if you swapped out a few of them for lower calorie options, I would err on the higher side just in case. Say quick adding 50-100 calories more, since it's hard to accurately determine exactly how big the portion size is.
  • You mean the point where I said people wouldn't sell their children for a chocolate addiction, but would for a heroin addiction? It was in reference to a post that compared chocolate addiction and a heroin addiction, and how it's impossible to compare them because a chocolate addiction is really minor compared to a heroin…
  • I think you might have been arguing to someone else, because I never mentioned food in general, just chocolate. Bringing up food is a completely different topic, which yes, I agree would have happened in the past (maybe even currently in impoverished countries). However, I highly doubt anyone would sell their own kid for…
  • But that's when people were in poverty or starvation/famine. Food is a need to survive, they would have died if they hadn't sold their kids (which I don't support, by the way). Unless you need chocolate to survive, you can't compare the two.
  • Love how OP hasn't even replied to anything in the thread yet lol
  • I don't have a plan yet, except for sticking to my calorie goals and exercise as I've been doing now. I might have revise over the course of the challenge, but we'll see :)
  • I've heard that the last stretch is usually the hardest. Have you lost anything at all in the last 7 months, or have you just been at the same weight for the last 7 months? Do you use a food scale? If not, you may need to tighten up your logging and maybe decrease your calories by a bit (100 maybe) just to get to those…
  • Oh I see, I never knew that. Then again, I only came by a month and a half ago.
  • Mostly it's because everywhere you go, the focus is more on the calories instead of IIFYM. Like not losing enough weight? Calorie intake. Gaining too much? Lower calories. Doing exercise a lot? Eat back your calorie burn, at least half. You never hear people talk about IIFYM (at least in this board) unless they're…
  • What is your calorie goal in the first place? If you're going below 1200 daily, that's very unhealthy. The calorie goal that MFP gave you is already at a deficit, so you're supposed to reach it, and going 200-300 under every day is really high. Have you only been at this for a week? How much is that "bit loss"? That 2…
  • Yes, that's definitely true. After a month of lowering my intake, I had a cheat meal and ate indomie. Usually I would need to eat 2 packets to feel full, but this time around I felt bloated. Today as well I went to eat pizza and garlic break as a celebration for my boyfriend having finished his exam. I ate half of each, so…
  • So are you finding it hard to keep within your calorie goals, is what I think you're getting at? Have you put in MFP that you're in a sedentary lifestyle now as compared to last time?

  • This was the reason why I told myself that I wouldn't weigh myself on the scale everyday when I first started MFP. I didn't want to get discouraged if I saw a gain the next day even if it was just water fluctuation, so I settled to weighing myself once per week or once per two weeks because I just forget to check the scale…
  • I just hate the imperial system in general, so I plugged in the metric numbers in the BMI calculator. 27.7 was what I got. Actually just recalculated and got 27.3. Must have mistyped.
  • As a freshman, do you get catered foods for all 3 meals of the day? If not, then you should meal plan and meal prep. Ever since I've started meal planning, I could count my calories ahead, as well as being able to ensure that I don't have food that will go bad. If you do get catered food though, you may want to just eat…

  • I've heard of people who tried to sell their kids or organs for drugs... Would you REALLY sell your kid for chocolate?
  • You didn't eat though, that's amazing! Congrats, you did really well handling the situation too :)
  • Yeah, MFP gave me 60g of protein daily, though my weekly average for this week has been 48g. I'll try swapping out my breakfast for eggs tomorrow and see how I do.
  • My boyfriend loves them and I buy him a lot of chocolate, just as a small simple gift. I don't tend to buy them as much anymore though, he gets pimples if he eats too much chocolate and he can't portion his servings, and he hates pimples! Such a dillemma lol
  • I think the best thing to do with someone like that is just keep agreeing. Whatever she says, just say "Yes", even if you're not going to do it. Just tune her out and keep saying "Yes". It helps a lot, and she'll understand that you really don't want to talk about it, or she may take it as if you understand her and she'll…
  • Hmm okay, I'll try to add more protein then. Thanks :)
