  • I have this issue with lunch. I eat a big breakfast because I wake up hungry but then find I'm not hungry at lunchtime. The only issue I have with skipping a meal is that for me, it makes it harder to reach my calorie goal.
  • Doesn't this demonstrate the pointlessness of the woo button? The OP didn't know why they were being woo'd, leading to a long debate about why it was woo/whether it was woo, etc.
  • Hiya, I have similar problems sometimes in reaching my calorie goals as I can't eat high volumes of food ; I get full too quickly. I often have around 200 calories at the end of the day so I just snack on peanut butter or ice cream. 800 at the end of the day is quite a lot though! What helps me is logging at the start of…
  • But she has posted a photo in which she is clearly not overweight or obese.
  • I think you look fabulous!
  • What baffles me is why some people think that 150 lbs is overweight and obese?
  • I don't have Cushings but have similar symptoms (huge stomach, skinny arms and legs) due to being on long term steroids for a chronic condition so I sympathise but have no answers, I'm afraid. I have found that progressive lifting has helped a little with the muscle wasting. If Cushings is treatable then I would assume…
  • Also how is my comment woo? Fodmap isn't a fad thing ;it's an evidence based diet which is successful for many people who suffer from gut conditions
  • It's not meant to be done long term though. You do it for around 4-6 weeks then gradually reintroduce foods. I did it with the support of a qualified dietician but I'm in the UK so didn't have to pay. I'm already on a restricted diet as I have ulcerative colitis so I can't pretend it wasn't challenging but it's not forever…
  • +1 for FODMAP but I'd recommend doing it with the help of a qualified dietician if possible, because it's not easy to follow
  • That 'If you ate this every day you'd weigh x in 5 weeks' has never been accurate for me. Mfp tells me my maintenance is around 1600 per day; I eat around 2200 and have stayed the same weight for months
  • True! Hasn't thought of it that way. I guess what I'm saying is that eating conventionally 'healthy' food would not make me better and my condition was not caused by diet or lifestyle ( as far as I am aware)
  • This. I suffer from Ulcerative Colitis and if I were to eat 'healthily' I'd end up in hospital. And my lifestyle makes very little difference to my condition. Flare ups occur out of the blue and seem to bear no relation to what I've eaten how much stress I'm under or how much water I've drunk. I am at my best when I eat…
  • You sound like me (though I'm probably a lot older) I have found I need at least 2100 - 2200 just to maintain. If I go any lower I start to lose weight. It's been easier since I started using a fitbit - I eat back the extra calories it calculates. With the amount of activity you are doing I'd guess you're burning more than…
  • The op asked people to be nice so that's what's being referred to here
  • I'd recommend my protein too but to he honest it's not that high in calories - I mix it with full fat milk and nut butters to bump up the calories. I struggle with appetite too and it helps to drink my calories when I don't feel like eating.
  • You look amazing! I can relate to still feeling skinny - I'm 5'3 and went from 108 lbs to around 130. Logically I know that's a healthy weight and I'm not skinny but I still feel it and still get comments about it from friends. I guess it's the same as when people lose weight but still feel big. Oh and by the way I would…
  • I have ulcerative colitis which is similar. Like Hamsibian, I find I have to eat a lot more than mfp suggests, even just to maintain. I've found there are some calorie dense foods which I can tolerate - eg, nut butters which I always assumed would upset me - and so I concentrate on those. During flare ups when I don't feel…
  • Full fat dairy, oil on or on pretty much everything, nut butters, as has been said above. Take it slowly (I had the same issues as you to start with and still can't eat large volumes of food) Drink your calories if you don't feel like eating. Eat smaller more frequent meals.
  • You sound just like me. I was always underweight, unable to eat large meals or finish everything on my plate, would skip meals etc etc. And lose appetite when I'm stressed! I joined mfp in September 2016 and it's been a slow process but I've gradually gained weight! I've had to stop lifting due to health problems but hope…
  • All my life I've thought I was "naturally skinny " until a year ago when I got sick of being thin and decided to try and do something about it. Joined mfp and started logging my calories and bingo , I gained weight. I discovered 2 things: I'd overestimated how much I was eating and underestimated how active I am. I don't-…
  • 5' 3" and I maintain at around 2100. I'm heavier though at 130 lbs( I look way too skinny at 120)
  • The hard gainer link posted above is an excellent place to start. I would add, make sure you are weighing and logging your food accurately! When I started using this app to gain weight, I realised I had been drastically over estimating what I was eating. Basically I wasn't eating enough ! I also have more success when I…
  • I've been following this thread pretty much from the start. (I wish I could unfollow it) Why,with all the many responses setting out the pros and cons, are there still people posting saying "I've never had one" or "I never get the flu therefore I don't get the jab"?
  • Mfp says 1570. Experience, even without eating back exercise calories, is around 2100. I'm female , 5'3, lightly active and weigh around 130lbs
  • By the above criteria I am probably skinny- fat. My bmi is around 23 but I'm pretty sure I'm around 30% fat. Mostly around my middle. One of my saddest moments was joining mfp and learning that you can't spot reduce or "turn fat to muscle " :/
  • Some of the comments I've had : You need to eat more. Are you anorexic? Your husband must be a paedophile if he finds you attractive If you turn sideways you'll disappear Plus numerous others suggesting I'm not a real woman, I'm ill, I have mental health problems, I'd be no good at sport or anything active, I need feeding…
  • If you've read through this thread you'll have seen several of us pointing out that the vaccine is *less effective * for people who are immunosuporessed (of which I am one) What helps to protect us is healthy people minimising/reducing the risk of infection, by (amongst other things ) getting vaccinated
  • My original aim was to gain both (I was underweight) I was doing well on strong lifts but have had to stop all upper body exercise and pretty much all lifting due to a shoulder and neck injury. I'm doing lower body weight exercises but doubt I'm gaining any muscle on that. And don't want to gain any more fat! I'd be happy…
