Thank you all, I've tried different scales-and I've had the same readings. Also, I did not weight myself before Thanksgiving, but I'm positive I was around the 294lbs range.

Calorie deficit means eating less than your maintenance calories. Whatever that is.

How do you really adjust your calories in my fitness pal?

Hey guys I found this great article on weight loss plateau. Check it out : https://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm Here is an excerpt: The Weight Loss Plateau Over time our bodies adapt to the lowered calorie level. Our body becomes more efficient at using energy (lowered metabolism), and therefore burns…

Well, I plan out my diet. I calculate my daily intake to about 2300/day. I eat "roughly" the same meals every day- and same amount--but I don't calorie count anymore. By eating the same meals and amount every day--I track my calories.

I am 30 and 6'1

Guys thanks for the responses. I am eating 2300 calories a day now. But, I have plateaued long ago since May. No, I am not on an Atkins diet.

My bad I forgot to add something. My. Calorie deficit was 2300 per day. That's what I have been at since September till now

I'm 6'1. I'm eating 2300 calories a day. My goal is 265 lbs. I currently weigh 301lbs

What's up bro. If you are that heavy, I don't think that counting calories is necessary at all to lose weight. My experience is that: the heavier you are--the easier it is to lose weight. Any small changes you make will cause a dramatic weight loss. I lost 57lbs once just by dropping sugar and junk food---with no exercise…

Start really small and slowly. Set short term realistic diet goals every week. Every week change something about your diet. Week 1: no sugar Week 2: no fast food Week 3: no snacks/ crackers Week 4: start strength training Week 5 add cardio. At your current weight any change to your diet that is consistent will result in…

Yes. I have read the same thing. I think HIIT is better in my opinion, because it raises the resting heart rate after the exercise for several hours. This allows you to continue burning calories after your workout out. It is much quicker also.

I don't think you should eat back calories. If you do then what's the purpose of your workout? Also, you can easily overestimate the amount of calories you need to eat back.

You've made great progress, I lost 8lbs in week one-then after that nothing!!! Keep going and don't give up. I think you should incorporate weight training and more cardio into your routine; something like 5 days a week for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Dieting alone will eventually lead to stalling as the body will adapt in…

Last year, I lost 56lbs in four months with absolutely no cardio or weight training at all. This summer, the scale barely budges on diet alone. I think you don't need exercise (technically), but but some exercise along with cardio is good preventing plateaus.

No it wasn't water. How do you know? Did you measure me? Obese people can lose huge amounts of fat at a time. 1-2lbs per week only relates to average size people.

You should focus on calories alone- forget about counting carbs. I lost 8lbs my first week on mfp by eating more carbs and just focusing on calories; and this was way more progress than my low carb diet. Junk food doesn't matter either, calories in versus calories out. Have you heard about the famous twinkie diet? It works!

Chris Aceto a professional nutritionist said that eating a large meal once in a while, during a very low calorie diet;tricks your metabolism into thinking food is available; as a result your metabolism goes up temporarily, so does your BMR and as a result you lose more weight at rest. I think evamutt is correct.

Great advice guys! Let's get beers tonight!
