  • Check out the group "Larger Losers" from the groups tab next to message boards. Nice group of folks that are supportive and upbeat.
  • A sense of community is a priceless gift and one that I hope to "re-gift" to each of you! With contributions to various threads I have gained insight, found solace, laughed, wondered, and questioned. Priceless gifts from each and everyone of you, particularly: @NovusDies @Jackie9003 @merph518 @real_change @jjlewey…
  • Good topic @NovusDies . I am pleased about my very modest loss for the week of Thanksgiving and my plan for the Christmas holiday is to repeat it. Eat at maintenance and take every opportunity to be active, even creating activities as needed.
  • @tinkerbellang83 it was the "2 tree decorations" that had me giggling - good one!
  • https://www.hystersisters.com/ There is a free, amazing group called HysterSisters, which has solid information and support. With the information available from the site I was able to make informed decisions about how I wanted to address my fibroids and extreme anemia.
  • Here's one for you, @conniewilkins56 and group! "There are only two days in the year when nothing can be done. One is called Yesterday and the other is called Tomorrow. So Today is the right day to love, believe, do and mostly live." ~ Dalai Lama
  • @conniewilkins56 Prayers and good thoughts for your husband and you! My husband had this procedure and tolerated it very well so good vibes all around for guy. Hugs. Pam
  • LOL - no really, LOL! "Thinema" I can't stop giggling! Thanks @NovusDies (wipes tears from eyes and continues to chortle, giggle, laugh and applaud).
  • Ooooh! You have in-house expertise, go you, @gewel321 for reaching out and getting pointers, too. Nice post!
  • @maiomaio71 the recap of your day sounded just wonderful to me because it included family, activity, time for reflection and just felt balanced. Good for you. I am learning to "count the days" as I have one son currently deployed to the far corners of the world and one that will begin his off-site training for his new job…
  • @gewel321 Glad you started this post because I, too, have recently struggled with this phenomena of the scale. Urgh! In the hope that this helps, I will share an insight I gained from the experience. Trust the CICO process. It will catch up with the scale. My mindset is to make CICO my constant and let other variables such…
  • @astidog99 How was your meal out as far as enjoyment of the celebration and tracking the calories with no assistance from the menu?
  • For my family food was and is a central theme for each holiday. On my mom's side it stemmed from very humble (poor) roots where there was often times throughout the year when the family went to bed hungry. To celebrate the prosperity of better economic times a large meal was served and shared. Thanksgiving always featured…
  • @conniewilkins56 AW, thanks for starting this thread  My positive post is to attend my second appointment with a therapist today to talk about depression.
  • My Thanksgiving day and long weekend went well for me as far as CICO and choices. I am proud of myself for thinking about it ahead of time, remaining flexible, and being moderate.
  • @conniewilkins56 and group: These last couple of weeks I have been in "lurker mode". Still checking in and nosing around but in all honesty, I want my contributions to the group to be positive and upbeat and that hasn't been my mindset of late. My sweet sister commented on my weight loss since she had last seen me in May,…
  • Truth in Lending: I am stirring the Fitbit / Google pot! Does anyone else have a lurking suspicion that health data (however it is collected) will very soon be used to offer me healthcare choices and influence the price of said healthcare? If the Fitbit HR reads high and my last blood work from my provider shows elevated…
  • @katy9599 You might look into a step pedometer, such as the Virgin Pulse model that sells for ~$40 USD. It uploads to MFP, tracks steps and flights of stairs and gives the time. Nothing more. Straightforward and reasonably priced using a standard CR2016 battery (flat, round, nickel-sized, available in Walmart by the…
  • @merph518 AWESOME! Thank you for posting your wonderful progress; it is a great motivator for me.
  • Oh my goodness, I'm sounding like my grandparents here, but bear with me! It bothers me to lay down good money (can't you just hear your grandpa?!?!?) and have a piece of electronics not perform or, worse, break. My solution is to be about two generations behind "the latest" and I've been very pleased that 1) most of the…
  • @NovusDies Perhaps a chapter by chapter discussion? I like to have a completion or due date, maybe the thread could have chapter 1 go for a week (or other time frame) and then open a discussion on the next, and then the next?
  • @NovusDies I'm in, will figure out by what method to absorb the book (audio? Kindle? library? oh the choices!). Are you working towards a specific date to start the conversation?
  • @conniewilkins56 Shout out to you for asking the questions because I need some new ideas for different ways to celebrate. One thing I've instituted for our blended family - by this I mean that our children each have two sets of "parents" and that some of their spouses also have two sets - do not feel that you "must" eat…
  • Thriving is a trend, not a personality type. Ran across this quote this morning, not sure who to give credit to but as I read it I wanted to share it.
  • @ConfidentRaven I can just imagine your husband treasuring that lovely photo of you; I'm glad you were "confident" to let him take it. Hugs to you both!
  • @maiomaio71 ...well, ya know, and I'm sure ya know, not drinking is much more preferable to your health :hugs. There are so many other things to consider about that darned plateau of weight and you can eliminate that one for sure! Go forth and persevere, be stubborn in your good habits and keep going!
  • My victory yesterday was to look in my lunch bag and decide that I could reasonably make the baggie of pizza and the baggie of chicken wings (leftover from Monday night football dinner) into three lunches. And I did. The victory was truly realizing that a year ago I wouldn't have given a thought to having the entire set of…
