I liked the suggestion by oolou about using the time while the kettle boils to do something extra. My job involves a lot of walking (nursing) so I am going to use this time to do some stretches.

good on you. Just keep up the positive attitude and sensible plan and you will do it. As you get fitter you will also feel better and your asthma should also improve which is something to strive towards. I'm soon turning 60 and it is definitely harder as you get older but consistency is the key - keep your goal in mind
