Your point is valid but your math is off because you used 7000 instead of 3500.

Only a pound? That is less than normal day to day fluctuations. It isn't worth worrying about in the slightest. The coffee I am standing here drinking weighs 2 pounds.

I was out the door at 3:30 this morning. There is always time and you can also prep it ahead of time. I like making a breakfast scramble with eggs, lean meats, veggies, potatoes, salsa, etc. but I also often have grits with shrimp or sausage and cheese, oatmeal with peanut butter protein powder and sugar free syrup,…

It depends. It can be a good amount of food if you choose wisely. As far as creating a deficit, it just depends on your stats and how active you are.

Perfectly normal for all the reasons given. Heck, I gain a pound just taking a shower. Chug a bunch of water and then hop back on the scale. It will go up by the weight of the water. Fluctuations in weight don't mean you gained fat. Give it time and trust the math.

Haha, I love it. Having been through this myself, I know that you can and will do this. Just take it one day at a time and before you know it the days and pounds will add up and you will reach your goal.
-
I don't personally like to spend my calories on drinks but I have seen others do so because they accounted for the calories and maintained a deficit. It is pretty much that simple.
-
This is why the scale isn't moving. It has nothing to do with tricking the body or keeping it guessing.

152 pounds lost and no plateaus. Plateau is just a fancy way of saying you aren't maintaining a calorie deficit. Weight loss will fluctuate but fat loss is pretty consistent if you are. My weight fluctuates but the long term trend has held true.

Necessary? No Beneficial? Absolutely It really just comes down to what your goals are.

Yep, as others have said lean meats, fish, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, egg whites... Nuts, aside from powdered peanut butter, are a good source of fats, not protein. Protein powders can be useful for things other than strictly protein shakes. They are good mixed with Greek yogurt or used to make pancakes, muffins, or…

Acylation Stimulating Protein aka ASP

I also might or might not have weighed empty containers of Greek yogurt and cottage cheese so that when I have whatever amount left that I will eat at one sitting I don't have to dirty other dishes.
-
I do this with dry ingredients or things you can pour like egg whites and such.
-
This^ Btw, it mixes well with Greek yogurt and I have some PB flavored that I mix with oatmeal.

To the bold... duh, of course she feels more satiated eating more calories and we didn't all get overweight by having appetites that were an accurate measure of our needs. Also, she lost zero pounds in 4 weeks. That wouldn't happen if she was under eating and doing all that exercise.
-
I do this with LOTS of things.
-
I should have. I would have made a killing.
-
Nope, you missed the part where OP isn't actually eating 1200 calories. She is eating more because she isn't accurately tracking her calories which is why the scale wasn't moving.
-
Also, stop worrying about what your weight does daily. That doesn't mean jack. My weight was up 3 pounds this morning. That is normal. Our weights fluctuate constantly. I gained a pound just taking a shower. What matters is fat loss and that is based on a calorie deficit. Trust the math and watch the trend over time.
-
Yep, your trainer is clueless. Weight loss is about calories not carbs. A bunch of us here have lost well over a hundred pounds eating lots of carbs.
-
Yep and the scale will and should move slowly and there isn't much room for error. Fortunately, there is also no need to rush.
-
Plateau is just a fancy way of describing inaccurate logging or too high of a calorie goal. I have lost 152 pounds and never hit a plateau. Weight loss isn't linear but as long as you maintain a calorie deficit, the trend over time will keep going down. There is nothing to it but to do it.

There are quite a few of us. I don't personally use the app but I do use the same process and have since before I found out about myfitnesspal. Since then, I have endorsed it to lots of people.

I recently spent a few days out of town for a wedding and due to restaurant food, I gained 6 pounds but I stayed within, or at least close to, my calories and it all came back off in a few days. 2.8 pounds is well within normal fluctuations.
-
This ^ Nothing to it but to do it.

This, pictures help a lot. Without them, it can be hard to see how much you have changed. Eventually though, it will become much more noticable and the change on the scale and dropping of clothing sizes are proof of your progress.
-
It is ALWAYS calories in and calories out. The leaner you get, the slower you need to go so you need to be accurate with your calories and have a little patience.

OP this is very doable and you don't need specific things to eat, just a calorie budget. This is actually a very simple process. It does help to minimize "junk food" and build your meals around foods that will keep you satisfied and are nutrient dense rather than calorie dense. It is all about what keeps you unsatisfiedand…
