I agree with what everyone has said about setting a steady loss rate and setting a reasonable calorie goal that isn’t too low. I also wanted to say that the first week or so is always the hardest as you’re changing your mindset from mindlessly eating what you want to having to set limits. Once you get into the swing of it…

I use happy scale, the weight trending app, because it gives me perspective on my weight loss rather than focusing on the immediate number You see on the scales on a given day. Its interesting to use because now I know that the week before my period I will always gain a bit of weight and then the week after my period I…

I have to think alot about iron and calcium for feeding my 9 month old - it’s important for babies to get both! I use these pictures taken from a nutritionists insta page to help me work out what foods are high in calcium and iron :-) Meat is a great source of iron but these pics show non meat sources.

Congratulations on the pregnancy! I don’t think mfp can have pregnancy settings - mainly because every pregnancy is different. You can definitely set your own calorie goal and macro goals. The most important thing is to listen to your body during pregnancy, some days you’ll need more calories and that’s OK - you’re growing…

I don’t always prep but I do meal plan. So I know exactly what I’m going to buy and eat for each day. I’m a stay at home mum so I’m lucky enough to just have to do this a day or so out and not for a whole week. I find if I don’t pre plan my eating day then I’m likely to snack and pick at food and over eat. My plan takes…

I haven’t really got any tips for fasting as I’ve never done it. I know that I always want an evening snack after dinner so I save calories for it. I tried cutting out my ‘treat’ altogether but I found myself getting hungry in the night so now I just make room for it. In my previous life my ‘treat’ would have been…

Hey! Congratulations on having a baby :-) I had my little girl 9 months ago and am currently trying to lose weight while breastfeeding. I read somewhere that the minimum calories you should eat while breastfeeding is 1800 and as I am short I gave myself that as my calorie goal. Mfp thinks I should be maintaining my weight…

This frustrates me so much. I know that calorie counting works. I’ve previously lost a lot of weight calorie counting and gained most of it back after stopping. I’m now losing weight again by calorie counting. I told a friend what I was doing and she started preaching to me that weight loss is not about calories but about…

Hi Kirsty I’m breastfeeding my 9 month old and am eating 1800 calories a day plus my exercise calories (if i do any)! It’s so important to eat enough to protect your milk supply. You’re doing an amaZing thing breastfeeding your baby :-) I am currently losing weight eating 1800 which should be my maintenance calories so i’m…

I’m a SAHM too. I find it difficult making 3 meals and 2 snacks for my little girl as it tempts me to pick and snack constantly. Really trying to kick that habit! I’d love more mum friends- please everyone feel free to add me

I have been both overweight and underweight. I found that people are much quicker to comment if you are underweight- it must be more socially acceptable to mention? Both of my weights were self inflicted so at both ends of the scale I knew I had a problem with food. In that sense it wasn’t really offensive when people…

You definitely need more than that. I did about a year of 1000-1200 calories a day about 6 years ago. By the end I was so unwell. My eating was so disordered that looking back I can’t believe I did it. I was anxious and unhappy all the time and my body was starting to suffer. My friendships suffered too. I lost a huge…

I love volume eating. I love feeling like I’m eating loads but knowing the calories are low.

Hi everyone, I had a baby 8 months ago and am just coming around to losing the baby weight now. I’ve got a long road ahead and would love some other mum friends for support - please feel free to add me and we can encourage each other.
