  • Yesterday pic after the gym 😊
  • I am about to drink my protein coffee pre-workout now as I am about to leave for the gym ☕️
  • And the protein will not clump when added to hot coffee.
  • Yes mix the protein in lukewarm (or out of the facuet) water. I use as little water as possible to make the protein as thick as possible to be dissolved and pourable. It almost will look and pour like half and half. I really like the taste but to each is there own. I even drink coffee with whey as pre-work about 30-45…
  • I have been tracking my macros also. I do a lot of weight lifting so I have to eat carbs for energy. So on my heavy days I eat more carbs (125g) moderate days I eat less carbs (80-100g) and on light or rest days are my very light carb (5-50g) days. Saturday is my cheat day I will eat maybe 5 grams of carbs but lots of red…
  • Glad to hear others add protein to coffee. I mix 100% whey protein (2 scoops) in room temp water to completely dissolve it. Then add stevia to 4 cups of coffee and then add my whey. If you add powder protein to hot liquids it will clump up. If I said this on other MPF chats I would get hell and a bunch of woo's. I have a…
  • Earlandrew - I turn 50 next week. My best lift by far is deadlift. I am strongly considering competing after looking at records I know I can break. But IMHO you should not be hurting on any lifts. I never hurt on my deadlifts...almost never. Lifting with proper form I believe will minimize your pain. If 315 lbs hurts go…
  • I am a powerlifter so this might not apply to you. I have to do barbell bench for competition. I use dumbbells for secondary exercise on the same day. But IMHO dumbbells are superior to Smith machine and barbell. Dumbbells are great for your stabilizer muscles and will build the most mass. Smith machine is a very good…
  • Mine macros are: 20C, 30F, 50P. My humble opinion is yes reduce carbs on rest days. I lift weights, 3 heavy days, 2 moderate days, 2 light days. I have found that I can not cut out anymore carbs and be functional with a calorie deficiency. Once I lose about another 15 pounds I am going increase my carbs and try to maintain…
  • You know how to ride this horse and know the game. Get back up on it and don't look back. I speak from experience so you are not the only one 🐴😁
  • Oh I forgot that you lifted... My bad Quicky. It's great you have the genes to eat what you want. Hope your genetics holds up. Awesome about the state records! I am going for National record(s) next year. Never taking drugs in my life but I workout with the untested USPA national record deadlift. Can't wait to beat the…
  • Thanks lemurcat and jgnatca....Finally an honest to goodness informative dialogue. I am going to try adding cocoa powder to my coffee. I realized that I shouldn't be asking questions on MFP. I am a powerlifter trying to lose weight for competition. I have to make every macro calorie count while being in a calorie deficit.…
  • Too many websites... Maybe but probably way less then the average bear. Super foods...negative on that. I can show you my diary from the last month to prove that one. Plain chicken is probably my only super food and whey protein. But I am engineer and I for sure over think somethings...very guilty on that one. If there is…
  • It is all about your goals. I eat somethings I like and somethings I don't. Food can be like medicine...you take it even when you don't like it. Plus I start liking some of the things I use to not like. Also it is similar to alcohol...no one liked the taste of their first drink (unless there was tons of sugar in it).…
  • I am not normal and I know it. Very driven. I lift extremely heavy way past what most can people can take as far as pain. I have lifted a very long time but very smart and never injured myself. But I really enjoy my lifestyle. So I measure my pleasure in a different way than most.
  • I am only saying it made me gain weight... Not that it make someone else gain weight. If you Google sucralose it will say it can make you gain weight so I am not the only one. Friend me and I will show you my program. I don't want to take this chat in a different direction.
  • I am talking about nutritionally...not taste. I eat a lot of things I don't really like. But I heard dark chocolate is really good for you. And plain cocoa powder is pretty cheap.
  • I want to eat my carbs...fruits and vegetables. Sucralose actual made me gain weight. But if you are going to use sucralose just use sugar instead...honestly. I avoid all sweeteners like the plague. I do use stevia a little. Actual bought a stevia plant and going to experiment with it in some recipes.
  • Looking for new friends who are into weightlifting and HIIT and clean eating 💪🏼🏋️‍♂️🏃‍♂️🥑
  • I am exactly the same. I eat to get stronger and but not excessive. I will eat and drink things I really don't like just so I can get the right macros. If it taste good it is only a plus.
  • I use MyProtein (Impact Whey Protein). I buy 11 pounds for around $55 but I wait till it goes on sale.
  • Rules for buying protein. 1. Taste decent enough to drink. 2. Has high protein ratio to calories. 3. Low carb and no added sugar and NO SUCRALOSE. My humble opinion is to buy pure plain whey protein and add stevia to sweeten and maybe some vanilla. Save your money and forget the isolates and casein proteins for now.
  • I have been lifting weights a long time. If you are a hard gainer eat your protein and forget the powder. If you are trying to lose weight and gain muscle (not probably going to happen unless you use steroids) you have to drink protein powder and lots of it. You should be getting about 1g per pound of lean body weight or…
  • I have been intermediate fasting 16:8 now for about 3 weeks. Lost about 8 lbs but now the scale is not moving. I have kept my calorie deficit the same with intermediate fasting as I was when I wasn't fasting. Would quit fasting but my waistline is continuing to shrink. I will quit fasting after my waistline stops shrinking…
  • Happy you are starting your new journey. I know you are going to doing great with your new goals!
  • Cooking your own food you have a huge advantage getting your calorie and deficit in the right direction! And throw in fitness training and you will have lost 10 before you know it. 💪🏼😁
