  • I've been working on maintenance (and absent from MFP world). I apologize! I've been for the last month now, maintaining between 140 &145. :) which makes me happy. My first goal of maintaining was 160, kept loosing, then I was like, okay, maybe 150? Nope. Saw my surgeon and bariatric nut and exercise psychologist in May,…
  • The very very base # is 60 grams. You need to hit that daily... Goes for water also, the very least amount you should drink is 64 ounces a day. so, at least 60, more is better for protein. :)
  • Sadly, I've had to take a couple weeks off of running, had to get my dang gallbladder out :( But, Surgeon said I'm healed up to try running again, but if I have any pain to stop, since I'm 2.5 weeks out. SO, with his blessing, I'm going for a run today. :) :) I had signed up for two 5K's, both of them were the weekend…
  • Ditto what @JamesAztec said! Focus on healthy habits. Getting your protein, water, exercise in. Move more. :) Once we stop focusing on the scale, and more on how we feel, it's amazing. You have make great progress!!!! Keep up the good work. (in six months, you have lost a WHOLE person, give your body some time to adjust).

  • Thought I would update on my one-year surgiversary. :) Current weight: 143 Current tops: small/medium Current bottoms: 6/8 Shoe size: 7-7.5 This last year has been so awesome, there have been ups and downs, but overall, it has been an awesome journey!! Just trying to figure out maintenance, as I truly do NOT want…
  • Happy two year!!! :D
  • @brendajean316 I just think, if someone who says I "took the easy way" would come live one day in my shoes, and know the amount of physical activity and what I do/do not eat, they would see, I've flipped my life upside down. I personally know three coworkers who had gastric bypass or the sleeve, and the gastric bypass…
  • I just read the 'apology' she did as a blog post yesterday! I used to enjoy her blogs, but since reading that, I'm not going to anymore. It turned me off to her blog. This is NOT the easy way!
  • I have been working out 3-5 times a week, cardio and weight training since I was released at 6 weeks post op to do so. I am 10.5 months post-op now, and down 165 pounds, at my goal weight. I followed the diet given, and exercise requirement. I see my surgeon, a nutritionist and an exercise psychologist. Cardio has helped…
  • Cinnamon Sugar Toast. -toast bread, butter toast, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixture. (my mom actually had a little container that always had cinnamon sugar in it!) Hawaiian Delights... graham cracker, with butter on it, and brown sugar sprinkled on top, heated in the microwave for 30 seconds.
  • There is an Ottawa in Kansas. http://www.ottawaks.gov/
  • I would suggest following what your NUT said to do. :) My NUT just said to get at LEAST 60 grams of protein a day. (RNY 5/16/17) I'll be 10 months post op on Friday, and my labs have all been good. (minus my liver enzymes being elevated due to the dang gallstones... but they were normal until last month!)
  • Gallstones.... @DawnCumm @MoyMG I didnt know where was a med to prevent gallstone formation. I would have been on that! *looked it up: Ursodiol is controversial as to if it truelove works or not to prevent gallstones from forming--once you get off the med, it may form/may not. Especially since our diets post-op are VERY…
  • I went to see my surgeon yesterday... gallstones :( I'm 1 in 9! booooo.... anywhoo... the nurses that did the BP, questions, etc, were talking outside the room, and were like, "how does she have gallstones?!? She's so TINY!" Why yes! that makes me feel good! And my surgeon bragged on my weight loss to the nurse who stepped…
  • YOU cannot put in BASIC effort and expect EXTRAORDINARY results. Follow the program, don't bend the rules, get exercise in, be patient, you didn't gain it all overnight, surgery isn't a magic pill that'll make it fall off overnight.
  • @NicoleL874 now that you should be all healed up, how does everything look/feel?
  • I'm not even sure anymore if my nails are brittle or not. I started getting dip powder done 7 months ago. I do know my toe-nails break and peel often still.
  • Double Ditto what @Aztec4Life said. You didn't gain overnight, it wont fall off overnight either. You got this. Just work the program.
  • @loveshoe I would totally suggest going to a bra shop. The current sports bra I have is Wacoal, which has an underwire, I wear a 34I.... this one holds the girls in position as I run. :) and as I continue to lose weight, the bra shop will continue to alter it for free, so it will continue to fit. I have this one…
  • @Aztec4Life I guess this is the downside of working from home! She does see me not eat the crap foods that she brings in (chocolate candies, chips, other junk foods-and shares with everyone) when we are onsite for something. She does see my eating lunch when we are onsite too. But she lives 3 hours from me, so…
  • One of my co-workers the other day, when we were discussing weight loss, said "well, I'm doing it the hard way."... Uh, come with me for a day, see what my eating habits are, what my routine is (gym), then tell me this is easy... this is the hardest thing I've EVER done in my life! I let another co-worker know my…
  • Days 1 & 2 were the absolute worst. I remember being so hangry. Day 3 was easier. It just takes a bit to get over the hump. You can do this! Push thru, remember your goals.
  • My really good friend & me were like that, all around food. Now we get our nails done together, no food involved. We see each other, and are able to focus on our relationship, not food. I hope that your bestie is as supportive as mine has been in my journey. :)
  • I only count protein. My goal is to get 60-80 (more on the upper number).
  • I would work at losing the fat, and lifting to maintain the muscle mass you have. :) once you get to where you want to be, you should be able to increase the calories to work on gaining muscle (safely)...
  • That is SO exciting!!! Congrats!!! & Good luck!!
  • I asked my exercise psychologist (Bariatric program I'm in has me seeing an exercise psychologist and a nutritionist  ) She said that you cannot gain muscle while in a calorie deficit, like we are in, the benefit of lifting weights is to keep the muscle you have, so your body doesn't use it for fuel, instead of the…
  • @jcavanna2 C25K running trainer. :) I never thought i'd be able to run, period. So it's pretty exciting! It's so funny what I think about while running... "why do people run? This isnt fun.. but i'm running! holy crap, I can do this! why on earth do I drive to the gym to run on the treadmill.... I'm like a little mouse on…
  • I am right with you @jcavanna2, I have marathon envy!! I'm super close to finishing C25K (couch to 5K app)-- Today is week 7, day 2-5min warm up then 25 minute jog/run--I'm on the treadmill, and am increasing the speed some, so today it'll be 5.2 MPH, then I need to figure out a 5K I can run, that isn't outside right…
  • My nutritionist has the my protein/carb/fat split as: 50% protein, 30% fat, 20% carb. They never gave me a goal number for anything other than protein. No calorie number either. Just worry on the protein.
